Yeah sorry never really watched that much Pokemon. As you can probably guess, I was more of a digimon kid.
God I loved that show.

But hey, I wish you all the luck with this petition.

You do realize this is the internet right? One thing I've found on the internet is that reason and sense check themselves out at the router. I just go with it. Who cares if it makes sense? signing petitions that probably will have no impact on anything at all is better than the then just sitting in my dim room staring at the wall and slowly going insane. (well...more so. I'm not the pinnacle of mental stability by any standards.)

Also, it's already been done. In the Manga.Rather dark. Characters and pokemon die. It has been extremely popular. a Anime for the manga COULD work, and it would likely be awesome. I don't really care. I'm just bored and want more anime to watch. Pokemon is a cool universe soooo....yeah. Might as well.

I love how so many people are stating that Pokemon is supposed to be aimed a children.

No, no it's not, at least it wasn't originally, and the Special manga proves that, it had an Arbok getting decapitated in the first damned issue.

That said, I didn't notice anything truly 'dark' or 'gritty' in the OP's video, hell that was tame by Pokemon Special standards, unless I'm missing something from not speaking Japanese, and it definitely looks more interesting than The Recurring Adventures of Dumbfuck McGee and Pikachu.

So an adaptation of a video game rated E for everyone is quantifiable proof that the entire franchise is not aimed at kids? Pokemon Special is not what people immediately think of when they hear Pokemon. They either think of the E for everyone video game, or the children's cartoon, or the children's playing card game. It is not the standard against which everything pertaining to Pokemon is set.

From what I read on the original yugioh anime, there were some instances where decapitation was a punishment for losing a duel.

People did die (there was no shadow realm) in yugioh from losing a childrens card game

Honestly, I don't want a more mature one. I just want a less cheesy one that is closer to the games. Use the main characters from the games and make them less lame than Ash. Like... a PokeSpecial Anime. It doesn't need to be gritty or PG-13, it just needs to be more accessible to all ages. Seriously, I tried to go back and watch the anime a few months ago. Well, there was almost legs cut off, people falling from skyscrapers and a good deal of eyes getting plucked out in the Japanese version, and that's just what I remember. It was much grittier, and actually pretty good.

OT: I kinda like Pokemon the way it is. Not everything has to be dark and gritty. With everything becoming edgy and dark I truly learn to appreciate a colourful Zelda, Mario and Pokemon.

"More mature" does not always necessarily mean dark and edgy. With simply more depth and complexity, it can be aimed at a more general audience, rather than *just* kids. I don't think OP is asking for the equivalent of an M rating, just something that doesn't pander to young children at every turn.

The original Pokemon anime is an insult to it's viewers really. It's just so bad, just because it's a kid show, doesn't mean that it needs to be of such low quality writing and character development.

That being said, like the Transformers, He-Man, My Little Pony and Thundercats (both new and old) cartoons, they are series made to sell toys. Some are arguably of higher quality than the other (MLP: Friendship is Magic has a higher writing standard than Transformers: Energon), but the goal is ALWAYS the same.

Sell. More. Toys.

With that in mind, it's hard to argue that Pokemon did not succeed in doing so. I would love to a more 'mature' Pokemon cartoon that doesn't treat it's viewer as a drooling retard, but I highly doubt it would happen. As much as I would want it to.

I'm not against people for wanting the original Pokemon to stay on the air because it is a happy sort of place with much good going on while other shows like to be gloomy, dark, or unhappy. However, this is my argument to all you guys who want the old show to stay up.

It's way.. way overdue and cliche'. I've seen the new episodes of Pokemon based around Ash and you know what? The same formula follows.
- Ash meets new person or group on his adventure.
- Person or group has a problem with their Pokemon.
- Pokemon tries to overcome issue, but fails.
- Team rocket tries to kidnap Pickachu or Pokemon.
- Team rocket fails and gets blasted off (now they're actually flying off with jet packs..)
- Pokemon has problem solved, and everyone laughs at some cheesy joke.

That's it. Every, every episode my friends.. follows this formula. Other people have noticed and there are plot holes in the series. First, the series isn't going anywhere because there is no stable plot. Second, Ash is still the main character which he hasn't aged.. he's still 10-11 despite being on the air for over a decade. Another problem is that the show is very repetitive, keeps being to cheesy and cliche' where you're not surprised or drawn in.

That is why this series needs to be taken off and redone. That is why I approve of this new mature series of Pokemon with a new star and an actual plot to follow. Plus, who said it was going to be darkly mature? It's just probably going to be PG-13 style with some mature humor or scenes rather then grim dark stuff. Watching the trailer, I can tell it'll be at the maturity of Bleach/Naruto/One Piece. So yeah I signed the petition and I would be thankful to anyone who can give me the company's e-mail so I can send them a message on how great this will get people and the older generation back into Pokemon.

"mature" is probably the wrong word, but I wouldn't mind for a Pokemon anime spin-off that took itself I little more serious. Watching Ash time and again defy all logic with the power of love gets quite silly after a while, I still really enjoy the anime and when Team Rocket finally got serious in the new season I got the nerd chills, but I really think a more serious Pokemon anime would be quite enjoyable to watch. Even if it just ended up as a spin-off with just a few episodes it would still be interesting.

So if anything I want a new anime to refresh the Pokemon world. But... making it friendly for both Kids and Teens isn't impossible.

Hehe, alot of the stuff in YGO was censored, and the first (albeit crappier animated but extrememly dark) series wasn't even touched.

Like the Duel between Yami Yugi and Arcana? Spinning disks that 'send you to the shadow realm'?
Yeah okay no, the original was the loser would have had their legs chopped off. Fun stuff!
