Right before you face the Queen of Hearts in American McGee's Alice. I couldn't believe it. I literally sat their stunned and in denial for 10 minutes. The Queen had to pay...

The ending of a certain high profile game released this year.

Anyone who has finished it will know which one I mean.

This, a million times this. Also, the ending was sad too.

In Lost Odyssey when
Lirum dies
So sad. :'(

The encounter with Ashley Williams on Horizon. She was my favourite female character in Mass Effect and my continued love interest and that scene really was sad. It was sad because it was hard to see two people who loved each other once now realise that they have drifted apart, it was sad that my favourite female character had to get little airtime and I had to wait until Mass Effect 3 to see how it turns out and it was sad just how many people dismissed her behavior as 'bitchy' considering the circumstance.
Still there was a little ray of hope when Shepard got given an apologetic email from her but still, emotionally speaking it was one of the most genuienly shockingly moments in games to date.

Still the scene where Shepard gazed at her picture before the Final Mission was still very heartwarming.

I know its been played to death, and they ruined it with the second game but "The Nuke Scene" from Call of Duty 4.

Me, at first.
Then I remembered it wasn't Soap and I was like "meh, the SAS missions are more fun anyway"

I cried myself horse when...
Agro fell down that chasm just before fighting the last boss in SOTC. The last colossus was one of the more emotional boss fights I've had in a game, namely because of the horse's "death". Still, I'd hoof to say that I was pretty enthused when I saw that the only thing he had to show for that ridiculously huge fall was a limp.

Yeah, definitely RDR.

Cried with happiness when the music started up and I rushed back to Beecher's Hope with him but lost it when I realised what he was planning at the barn. Sigh... good job, Jack.

FF7, City of the Ancients...nuff said

Heh, why is SHE always mentioned or suggested in threads like these (key words: sad, depressing)?

IMHO her whole pink, innocent "holy virgin" act is what makes her a cardboard character.

SE should remake FF7 and make her a more believable character...one that doesn't melt your teeth away with her sweetness.

When Roach and Ghost die in MW2. Was frustrating because I had no idea it would happen and I'd spent AGES doing that mission on veteran, hardest one on the game IMO, and the way Ghost and the Shadow Company guys help you at the end made me have no thoughts of betrayal. Just that whole mission, but mainly the last bit.
Another more subtle one was at the end of the American campaign in CoD WaW, when it's either just you or you and Roebuck left, out of all the guys who were with you at the start.

The Penumbra Series (Well, 1&2 anyway)
When you're forced/tricked into murdering the only human beings down there with you. The game makes you feel guilty as hell.

Also, Mass Effect
I ended up letting Kaidan die and, yet again, the game makes you feel like a total bad person.

Nver been depressed or even sad for that matter by playing a game. I just don't tend to get emotionally attached to them as they are, well ..... not real.

Metro 2033. But only because I had failed to attain the good ending. Twice.

Yeah, Fallout 3 definitely had its moments like

Amata and the return to Vault 101

And in L4D(2)
Bill dying in The Passing. He was my favourite character.

Ummmm wow there is quite a lot, One which sticks out in my mind is in Fallout 3 in that hotel (sorry havent played it in a while) if you look around you can find a tape of a father who has been shot and is leaving this tape for his daughter, recording it as he is dying(also felt kinda bad for taking it.)

Also in Borderlands *SPOLIER* when you go back to T.K. Baha, if you've played it you'll know what I mean.

Theres loads in RDR, including the end, and GTA IV. Rockstar are good at that.

SORRY ONE MORE, God Of War 3 with Pandora... poor Kratos.
