Eli's death in the end of episode 2... so sad...

OT: SoC with STALKER complete installed. Walking around the bar area was pretty depressing.
Your karma could also affect the ending....Doctor VonSexMachine said:Ugh, I just finished it today in a fit of boredom although I have racked up hundreds (yes, with an s) of game hours with a few different characters. It even got the ending wrong in the epilogueExiusXavarus said:All I can say is, the ending of Fallout 3. Thank god I save with nothing but the ending...parade to go, so I can go back and explore the wastes. I was only level 15 and yet I think this is my favorite character yet.
ETA: The Crossing was pretty depressing too. It was a little sad to see the survivors not all that upset about their fallen one.

I reckon one of the most depressing was watching Sgt Johnson die in Halo 3.
Man, that sucked.

Indeed. But some people have decided to like the character no matter what. You can give them dialogue and plot analysis to convince em the character is corny as hell (and in fact more plot driver than character)...they'll just shrug and offer their emotional argument: "I genuinely cried...it did something to me...so it's real for me." The classic subjectivist retreat...Synonymous said:The whole problem with HER is...screw it, spoiler text:Manji187 said:Heh, why is SHE always mentioned or suggested in threads like these (key words: sad, depressing)?
IMHO her whole...act is what makes her a cardboard character.
...that Aerith's death has become *the* landmark sad event in RPGs, if not in all of videogaming; her martyrdom and the attendant mourning has elevated her so that she's an icon; she's and not a *person* anymore. Therefore, it's in the end actually harder to relate to her; it's more tragic to see a human murdered who never meant anyone harm and was cut down with their life in front of them than to see the inevitable sacrifice of some holy thing born to die.
