Now I know you're just being deliberately obtuse.
Or I am just using Bethesda's past DLC descriptions to make a realistic assumption that houses are not the only thing in this DLC.

Using a companies past actions to determine future results? THE HORROR!!!
Perhaps someone else will explain it to you.

Right.....

I don't see how I was being unnecessarily insensitive.

I was just pointing out that Bethesda never gives an even remotely detailed description of what is in the DLC, thus it is unreasonable to assume hoe building is the only thing in the DLC.

I really hate it wen people try to use the "MODS ARE FREE" excuse.

You can get everything for free via mods. Shivering isles could be done for free via mods.

Does that mean Shivering Isles isn't worth the price? no.

With the mods are free excuse literally nothing Bethesda dos is worth buying... except it is.
Your argument is hugely flawed for two very specific reasons

1). Their is no mod that is even close to being anything like Shivering Isles, the closest was that lost spires mod but that had zero voice work.
2). From the info we have about this 'Hearthfire' it is seems that the DLC is in fact exactly identical to this mod here http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18480

so until we hear something about 'Hearthfire' that actually tells it it is a bit more than build your own home then this statement

Oh um so I can buy something that I can get in a mod for free? Great.
is currently true.

1. Well your point 1 is actually something I also regularly use to call out the "MODS DO IT FOR FREE" people, as to why mods are worth it. And I was talking more about the actual content, not the voice acting which can be replaced with text easily.

2. Just because there isn't currently doesn't mean it isn't possible, why not ask someone to make it and wait if people care about free DLC so much?

3. It isn't like that mod because its an official product, would have voice acting, has no chance of not working because of an update, or being abandoned by the creation, furthermore it has actual support.

So its like the mod, but with an inherently higher quality. Which is what DLC normally is, mods with more quality.

Well then if you have the game on PC don't buy it. Simple as that. This will be for console users. And more than likely it'll have much more stuff, and a lot of detail.

Now maybe if this was PART of a larger DLC then fine.

But didn't Bethesda say they were aiming for large DLC's with a lot of content? This is a step in the wrong direction.

If this is true I'll be mighty disappoint.
Bethesda said they would be doing DLC of various sizes and various price points.

Some DLC will be as expensive as dawnguard, some will be less, some could be more.
yes but this is already a mod.Build your own house. The Shivering Isles wasn't. Hopefully though, there will be more to the DLC than that and that is just a feature of the DLC.

Various part of SI were, combine enough free mods and you'll get just as much, if not more content, ALL FOR FREE!!!

why pay for content when you can get more content then DLC can provide for free via mods? am i right?

Everyone is forgetting.....you can't play mods on the 360 version....because that's probably the only platform Beth will release it on! ZING!
No, the DLC comes out on all platforms.

Hearthfire also sounds like a good time to add season foliage.

A bunch of mods that you would have to find and put together and you would ultimately come up with a lesser experience not to mention a buggier one. Plus I doubt any mods actually did the story of the shivering isles or actually, you know took you to the shivering isles. yeah I look it up on the nexus and no mods actually made the shivering isles. Hearthfire is one dlc that copies a mod that can easily be found because it is the 77th on the top 100 mods on the nexus.

Hi. PS3 owner here. STILL waiting on Dawnguard, and if this manages to come out before then, I'm uninstalling Skyrim.

So you would rather have them release it now and have the same issue Skyrim first had with the Ps3, instead of having them work on it and make sure its fully optimized for it then?

I got the GOTYE editions of those games so yeah I didn't really buy any DLC. And I'm not buying the Skyrim DLC until it's really cheap.
I really wish the Gotye edition was a real thing, where there were new Dark Brotherhood missions where you got close to your prey by painting yourself to blend in with abstract art and then stabbing him in the back while moaning that he's now just somebody that you used to know.

On a serious note, I wish bethesda would throw out a couple crappy free mods like they did with Morrowind (Here's AoE arrows! Here's a quest to find a random lost helmet!) This mod seems like something that could be thrown together in no time, so why not do it free as a piece of goodwill? And then release it to PS3 owners first!

Perhaps this particular DLC is not particularly meant for the PC versions of skyrim? (I play it on PC, but I am not an asshole who has no sympathy for the console players, even though I do like to point and laugh at times...ok so I am an asshole, shutup!)

And... I am quite lost as to the part where Bethesda is forcing folks to buy their DLC...If you dont like it... -gasp- dont buy it.
No i understand that it's meant for consoles, i just pointed out that saying that the pc version has mod's for this is not childish or silly.

No, buying things without consideration is childish, any responsible consumer however should weigh bang per buck and mods are always a consideration in that.

So far it doesn't sound like they are bringing something of good value, but we have yet to see the final product.
