No offence guys and girls but how about we wait till the OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT before we make our judgements yeah? No-one said that it was going to be a small content DLC - I seriously doubt that it would JUST end up being a house construction simulator.

The only "build your own home" mod that i have tried out was thoroughly "meh" so i am looking forward to this.

And if this is the second and last timed exclusive for XBL then... that's a bit of a disappointment.
if that's the case then thank god I hated the timed exclusive dlc for skyrim

I will probably get flak for this but Skyrim felt so meh to me compared to the earlier games in the series. No longer excited by the brand anymore.
I feel you man, for some reason Oblivion was more inspiring than Skyrim.

Might have been because it was the first game I seriously got into.

Is this part of a big DLC or just a small Plug-In like Oblivions Thieves den and so on?

Given that Oblivion's house plug-ins were just a shell of a house that you bought furniture upgrades for with maybe one or two small quests like "kill badguys in basement", and this DLC has purchasable land, and houses you build from one room cabins up to large mansions, I am going to guess that this is far larger then an Oblivion plug-in.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a multitude of quests like
-Clearing the land before you can buy it
-Hiring workers to build your house
-Having to do stuff for the local Jarl before you can get X upgrade
-Having to collect resources to actually use in the construction of your house

Sort of like Morrowind's house building quests, but longer, and less shitty.

And they will probably throw in things like adoption, and seasonal foliage, and skeleton butlers to round it out.

The problem with bethesda and mojangs modding community, is that it makes it impossible for them implement any new features or DLC without people getting their pitchforks and going "MODS ALREADY DID IT!"
But it just doesn't. If Bethesda release daft mods like the horse armour and charge for it then yeah the point is valid but if they instead give us huge new areas, a great story and a bunch of decent voice work, like they did with Shivering Isles, then the modding community just can't do that. End of the day Bethesda knows what the community can do and it really is up to them to go beyond that, they have proven that they can do it, it is just weather they opt to do it or go for a cheap buck.

yes but this is already a mod.Build your own house. The Shivering Isles wasn't. Hopefully though, there will be more to the DLC than that and that is just a feature of the DLC.
It's only on one platform though. Saying 'it's pointless because mods' is like saying 'Dawnguard is already on the 360 so why should they release it again'?
But yeah, I'd like a bit more than just a house. Like spellcrafting or something.

Now I know you're just being deliberately obtuse.
Or I am just using Bethesda's past DLC descriptions to make a realistic assumption that houses are not the only thing in this DLC.

Using a companies past actions to determine future results? THE HORROR!!!
To be fair, using the same logic you can work out houses WILL be the only thing in this DLC.
Like [http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Fighter%27s_Stronghold] this [http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Thieves_Den] other [http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Vile_Lair] DLC. [http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Wizard%27s_Tower]
It is still a little ridiculous that they are taking something that is free but then charging for it.

Same could be said for the
-Vampire upgrades
-Werewolf upgrades
-New monster types
-New weapons/armor
that Dawnguard had. All of which were in free mods before.

At that point... whats left? why buy any DLC?

Ohh yeah... the quality...

This is awesome. If this is paid DLC that's already covered by a mod - so what? Bethesda will do it with a huge amount of content if Dawnguard is anything to go by, and probably do it with a lot more polish and depth than the mods allow. I love player housing in games and a lot of them overlook the customisation options that a lot of people like, so a big developer adding official support for it is a great step, in my eyes.

This could be worth it if you have fully customizable homes and if they do add content it would be pretty awesome if you could build your own town or something, add in some quests about the whole stormcloak thing and you could be choosing sides, mounting armies and defending your stronghold.

On a side note, people who have consoles cannot use mods, yes, they should have bought the pc version if they wanted mods, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to build their own place. plus, isn't it much more magical to build a house in game rather than build one in an editor.

I really wish the Gotye edition was a real thing, where there were new Dark Brotherhood missions where you got close to your prey by painting yourself to blend in with abstract art and then stabbing him in the back while moaning that he's now just somebody that you used to know.
My captcha was this: Somebody that I used to know

WTF.

Sadly not, but you DO get mudcrab armor

Damn, I was hoping they'd add this into the game.

OT: As long as it's free, I'd be completely happy. If it really does just give you the BYOH mod, at least there's support from Bethesda if there's problems. OR, they'd expand on the mod and make it better. I see either situation as a win-win as long as the mod is free. I won't pay money for it, but I'd sure as hell download it when it comes out. Then again, I wasn't that impressed with Dawnguard, so I'm not too sure how impressed I'll be for the next payed DLC from them.

Well Dawnguard had more too it than that from what we heard so far Hearthfire doesn't it is just copying 1 mod and charging for it. Dawnguard added story, characters and factions, hearthfire copies 1 mod then charges for it.

The house building was in the Game Jam stuff, just like the Vampire Lords were originally. So I suspect they'll be throwing in some more stuff from the Game Jam and some new stuff as well.
