yes but this is already a mod.Build your own house. The Shivering Isles wasn't.
Various part of SI were, combine enough free mods and you'll get just as much, if not more content, ALL FOR FREE!!!

why pay for content when you can get more content then DLC can provide for free via mods? am i right?
I dropped $60 on the game. They included the toolset to create mods. You're acting as if downloading mods is some sort of criminal act, when the game encourages it.

Or as someone earlier said, you're being deliberately obtuse.

I smell some grape jelly around here. Because it seems like someone doesn't have the game for PC, but wishes they did.

http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1404578-i-found-out-what-heartfire-is-about/

So apparently derptemp6698, the guy who leaked info about two Mass effect DLCs, and was right on both accounts, has claimed to have gotten information about Skyrim's next DLc HEarthfire.

"Hearthfire?, the next official game-add on for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim®, has arrived. For the first time in the Elder Scrolls universe, purchase land and build your own home from the ground up - from a simple one-room cottage to a sprawling compound complete with armory, alchemy laboratory, trophy room, and more! With Hearthfire, the possibilities of what you can build are endless."

Is it true? maybe
Is it fake? maybe

but if it is real... all I can say is.... BOUT DAMN TIME BETHESDA.
I have it on the xbox, so having a home building feature without a mod is cool. I hope that this is just a feature to the whole dlc and not the whole thing. I want some more campaign.

Well Dawnguard had more too it than that from what we heard so far Hearthfire doesn't it is just copying 1 mod and charging for it. Dawnguard added story, characters and factions, hearthfire copies 1 mod then charges for it.
Can you point me to where it was said building homes is the only thing in this DLC?

Really, your taking the DLCs description, which as I have pointed out before never contains information about 90% of the DLC content, and trying to pass it off as the entire DLC. It's dumb.

To act like the DLC only contains house building is an entirely unfounded belief.

<--- Has the game on PC, has over 200 mods installed for it, still doesn't understand how people can come up with the "WELL MODES DO IT FOR FREE WHY BUY DLC?" excuse.

And no I am not acting like downloading DLC is a criminal act, I haven't even discouraged downloading mods it at all. I was merely pointing out that the "MODS DO IT FOR FREE" excuse makes no sense because mods do EVERYTHING for free, thus by that logic nothing Bethesda can nver come up with is ever worth paying for.

Which is contradictory to the fact that many of the people who try to use the "MODS do it for free" excuse end up buying DLC anyways, the very same content they could have gotten they claim they can get for free.

Anyone who has bought a DLC in the past really cannot use the "MOS DO IT FORE FREE" excuse without being hypocritical.

I'm sure this appeals to some people. But I'm not one of those people, so Skyrim is 0 for 2 as far as its DLC goes for me.

It would be nice if they allowed a xbox modding toolkit for the xbox 360, and with it an archive from other modders online.

Rather than taking ideas other people who came up with it on the PC, and holding it blackmail to 360 owners....

Would earn quite a good chunk of reputation points, lol. But oh well.
Ideas other people came up with? You realize that the ability to build your own fortress was in Morrowind, which was released a damn long time ago.

I also find it funny how people don't know that Bethesda isn't the one who gets to allow modding on the consoles or not, its the console makers who do.

I imagine that the whole building a house thing is just part of a larger dlc package, if so I'll gladly buy it, if not then I won't bother, my house in Whiterun works just fine Bethesda.

Hi. PS3 owner here. STILL waiting on Dawnguard, and if this manages to come out before then, I'm uninstalling Skyrim.
So you would rather have them release it now and have the same issue Skyrim first had with the Ps3, instead of having them work on it and make sure its fully optimized for it then?
Yes. I didn't have any problems with my copy of Skyrim on the PS3 and hell I saw the problems happen on my friend's copy. Didn't look like that much of a problem to me. At this point in time a date hasn't even been released for the PS3 version, so I'd be happy for any information even if it's just 'we're working on it'; But no instead we get 'I don't have an answer or an update'.

I seem to recall a mod that took place in the Rift where basically this guy cleared a bunch of the foliage between Ivarstead and Riften and, well basically created a 10th hold. It had a town around the size of Falkreath and expanded south to cover some existing caves. It'd be cool if Bethesda did something similar with this DLC.
Say a rich nobleman asks for your help in building a town from the ground up (maybe rebuild Helgen?) and through whatever contacts you have through your factions or being thane of other Jarls will help how this town will form.

If you contract the College of Winterhold to do expeditions in the area, thus increasing interest in the town and in return more people want to live there, or do you get people in the Thieve's guild to extort others to fund building, and in return they get influence in the town.
What about the Jarls?
Say you are thane of the Pale, you can get them to help with funding, and in return the new Jarl there will do what's in the Pale's best interests, or if you are thane of Solitude, the new town s a base of operations for the Legion, similar to how the Penitus Oculatus works in Dragon Bridge.

If true its a good feature that people have wanted. Problem is it seems far to little unless the DLC is really cheap (like $5). I do like the idea but no way would I buy an expansion with just that for $10-20

If there was story with it, then I would consider it

Actually they have said they're working [http://ca.ign.com/articles/2012/08/02/bethesda-not-yet-satisfied-with-dawnguards-performance-on-the-ps3] on it and again many people complained about the issue and held it against Bethesda, they really don't want to go through that negative PR again.

Old news there. Update. [http://www.inentertainment.co.uk/20120817/update-on-dawnguard-ps3-not-forthcoming/]

Well the update is that this is no update... updateception?Damn it I had a joke here but my brain has failed me.

Betheda's games are buggy as hell, but I just see that as a price to pay for awesome games.

I said from what we have heard. Learn to read. Plus there were about 4 mods in oblivion that only added houses. How is my belief unfounded?

Oh um so I can buy something that I can get in a mod for free? Great.
I really hate it wen people try to use the "MODS ARE FREE" excuse.

You can get everything for free via mods. Shivering isles could be done for free via mods.

Does that mean Shivering Isles isn't worth the price? no.

With the mods are free excuse literally nothing Bethesda dos is worth buying... except it is.
Do you just not see the difference between selling what amounts to a glorified house mod which has already been done versus selling a complete set of new lands, quests, enemies and NPCs at a level to which not very many mods actually aspire, or are you just being deliberately obtuse?
Do you and every other person who has brought up mods realize that some of us bought the game on the 360 or PS3? You realize that we don't have the same opportunities that you have? Feel free to enjoy house mods like this, but please realize that some of us console users can only envy you PC users.

Becuase, you are claiming that, from the information we have been given, those things are only things in the DLC. Which nothing presented thus far supports.

The information we have supports a claim of "purchasable land and buildable houses are in the DLC", not "purchasable land and buildable houses are the only things in the DLC".

There is a very large difference between the two, and as Dawnguard's description has shown, Bethesda doesn't mention the vast majority of the content in the DLC in the DLC's description, only the very core focus.

Point me to where it says that.

No reason to assume there's any more to it at this time. Two words: Horse Armor.
Lets look at the Dawnguard description shall we?

"Dawnguard? is the first official game add-on for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim® - the 2011 Game of the Year. The Vampire Lord Harkon has returned to power. By using the Elder Scrolls, he seeks to do the unthinkable - to end the sun itself. Will you join the ancient order of the Dawnguard and stop him? Or will you become a Vampire Lord yourself? Featuring an all new faction questline and locations, the ultimate choice will be yours."

No mention of all the new shouts, weapons, armor, the useable boats, the Flamer, the Dwemer stuff, the face changing, werewolf perk trees... you know... like 90% of the content. It only mentions the very core details of the DLC.

Also they did horse armor, once... and they have done like 10 DLC since then, and none of them have been like horse armor. If horse armor was something they did more then one time, you would have a point, but they haven't.
Even the Horse Armor had its use, since it was one of the very first DLC, then it was something more of the "Trying out" than the "Adding game content", it worked and they haven't screw up ever since. (Okay, some of Fallout 3 DLC was lame (iamnotgivingnamesmothershipzeta) , but they added a good amount of gameplay)
Imagine they released something totally awesome, worked real hard on it, just to the DLC model die in some horrible way, now that would be frustranting.

In retrospective the idea of customizing your horse with armor is cool, if only they released in some bigger pack (like Dawnguard) and in some useful way (like increasing the horse defense so he would die as often or maybe stuff like fire damage when the horse hit something) I could totally get behind the idea.
