Let's tackle this in no particular order. First of all I was referring to Morrowind (Leave the world to chaos) when it came to losing, and yes you can lose. you can kill one the main character (I can't remember his name it's been a while since I played it) after you kill him the game ask whether or not you want to leave the world to chaos (paraphrasing) and you can no longer finish the main quest. I know you cannot lose oblivion, but it would be nice if you could.
No, you couldn't "lose" Morrowind. Breaking the main plot in the fashion you describe (or killing anyone else flagged "essential") broke the main plot, but you could still win. You just had to go about it ass-backwards, by becoming a big enough badass to kill Vivec. Vivec basically dropped "get the plot back on track" directions and the wraithguard.

Huh when I got that message I always though it meant I screwed up royally, interesting. However that does still illustrate that there is less flexibility in the Elder Scrolls than there once was, but I'll concede your point on Morrowind. you can't lose, but you can make things a lot harder on yourself.

Listen I'm not trying to shit on peoples favorite game here I'm just expressing my disappointment with how the series is going, primarily in the story department. I mean this (the main quest) was a weak story, and the questions raised about the theology in Dawnguard that's never explored just punctuated how weak their writing is getting. I love the Elder Scrolls. It introduced me to RPG's and I'll always enjoy exploring new lands, but the hand waving nature of "It just a dragon's nature" to explain a beings reason for wanting to destroy the world really pissed me off.

One quick side note: I do love how they did the dark brotherhood in this one. "You're not leaving here until someone dies!" You got it asshole *STAB* although it was creepy when she congratulates you with her last breath. I have to applaud them on that one.

Knowing their track record with variants of armor and weapons (almost nonexistant/depressingly few) I can easily imagine their choices being "log cabin" and "not log cabin."

Seriously, I'm currently replaying Dark Souls and the sheer variety of gear/mobs/everything makes me cry compared to Skyrim's.

I doubt very much that the next Skyrim DLC would have anything to do with what has so far been "leaked" and discussed in this thread so far.

Though as I have a PS3 my vested interest in ANY new content from Bethesda is almost non existent to begin with. I will however be vastly more interested in any DLC that doesn't feature vampires and werewolves.

Its a damn shame that horse combat was patched in for free, but you have to pay to get to craft arrows and dragon weapons.

I'm ok with the crossbows, because that actually added a new weapon type with new quests and a faction to get it. The other stuff I mentioned should have been in the game from day one.

Conversely, the mounted combat I could have easily seen added as paid DLC with horse armor, which would actually be really helpful now. Maybe an NPC that trains you to do it etc. Just seems like a weird thing to do when you make a whole new combat system and ad it for free, yet bundle crafting things (especially arrows) into paid dlc.

So apparently derptemp6698, the guy who leaked info about two Mass effect DLCs, and was right on both accounts, has claimed to have gotten information about Skyrim's next DLc HEarthfire.

"Hearthfire?, the next official game-add on for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim®, has arrived. For the first time in the Elder Scrolls universe, purchase land and build your own home from the ground up - from a simple one-room cottage to a sprawling compound complete with armory, alchemy laboratory, trophy room, and more! With Hearthfire, the possibilities of what you can build are endless."

Is it true? maybe
Is it fake? maybe

but if it is real... all I can say is.... BOUT DAMN TIME BETHESDA.
I'm not surprised- at the DICE summit, Bethesda did that "After Skyrim was shipped we took a week off- here's what happened," thing. Everything added in patches (Killcams, Vamp Lord, Kinect) was seen there, and if you rewatch it, building a house was there. I'm sure there's DLC we don't know about yet, but a LOT of it will be inspired/loosely based off of what was seen here.

I still want a snarky skeleton butler though- that'd be awesome.

Point me to where it says that.

No reason to assume there's any more to it at this time. Two words: Horse Armor.
Lets look at the Dawnguard description shall we?

"Dawnguard? is the first official game add-on for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim® - the 2011 Game of the Year. The Vampire Lord Harkon has returned to power. By using the Elder Scrolls, he seeks to do the unthinkable - to end the sun itself. Will you join the ancient order of the Dawnguard and stop him? Or will you become a Vampire Lord yourself? Featuring an all new faction questline and locations, the ultimate choice will be yours."

No mention of all the new shouts, weapons, armor, the useable boats, the Flamer, the Dwemer stuff, the face changing, werewolf perk trees... you know... like 90% of the content. It only mentions the very core details of the DLC.

Also they did horse armor, once... and they have done like 10 DLC since then, and none of them have been like horse armor. If horse armor was something they did more then one time, you would have a point, but they haven't.
Gonna back you up- Oblivion has 9 DLC packs not including Horse Armour, Fallout 3 has 5 DLC packs, and New Vegas has the same if one includes the Courier's Stash.

I want a skeleton butler so I can come home and say

"hows it going bones"

and have the butler respond with something like

"for the last time my name isn't bones, its bob"

he gets all pissed off about it

Yeah, that'd be cool. Kind of like in Yugioh Abridged where Joey keeps calling his Deck Master Larry "Flame Swordsman." I don't think Bethesda can do humour like that- Obsidian, yes. BioWare? Maybe. Bethesda? They're more straight faced.

It would be nice if they allowed a xbox modding toolkit for the xbox 360, and with it an archive from other modders online.

Rather than taking ideas other people who came up with it on the PC, and holding it blackmail to 360 owners....

Would earn quite a good chunk of reputation points, lol. But oh well.
Microsoft would rather cancel Halo, Gears of War and Forza Motorsport before mods are allowed on their consoles. According to a friend of mine, if you can mod your XBOX, you'll eventually to access the Marketplace and download things for no cost or get infinite MS points. Or even fool the system into giving you infinite XBOX LIVE...

Oh um so I can buy something that I can get in a mod for free? Great.
This.
Now maybe if this was PART of a larger DLC then fine.

But didn't Bethesda say they were aiming for large DLC's with a lot of content? This is a step in the wrong direction.

If this is true I'll be mighty disappoint.
I think they're just making DLC with the 360 in mind at this point.

Or anyone who just wants an official game product they know will work with the game instead of having to use mods....

I know many PC players who would rather have an official version of something then a modded version.

It really isn't that uncommon.

This is already done with modding, is it not?
Probably, but this being a actual part of the game and not a mod, it stands to reason that it will be able to work without crashing your whole game[footnote][sub]I tried to type that with a straight face, but couldnt...[/sub][/footnote].

They had plans with Morrowind that never really really got implemented in official release but one of the expansions, Bloodmoon, did allow you to build and customize a small mining village.

It's rather easy to build whatever you want and throw it into the game with the creation kit, hopefully this home is part of some large quest and the finished home is the reward, I'll go for that.

If you include Courier's Stash then you have to include Gun Runners' Arsenal, making it 6.

So whats your problem with people who like mods? You some kinda consoles are king fanboy? I have extended my playtime in Skyrim via Mods more then anything Dawnguard brought.Do mods bring this same house building to the game? Yeah, its been stated plenty of times before and they are right. If you wanted people to talked about more then that you should have waited till you had more info on the DLC then just the house building.

I've never been able to reconcile not having a pouch available at every alchemy laboratory in every purchasable home. In one case I don't recall there being any convenient containers nearby.

Anyway, as a PS3 owner, I'd just about crap myself with delight if they ever made this game at least passable. A game without game breaking bugs or crashes? Not so far. DLC? Not until they get this thing fixed.

If this house thing is true, I want a ship with cannons so I can take out every stronghold stupid enough to be located near the ocean and that big vampire mansion.

People are getting mighty upset over the speculation of a fellow named "derptemp", personally I don't believe Bethesda would only include the housing thing, though as a console gamer I must say I'd probably be all in favour of that alone if the price was fairly meager. People are still too hung up on Horse Armour, more people have forgiven Michael Vick for the dogfighting ring than they have Bethesda for a very poor and, admittedly, bastardly small piece of DLC.
