So far, the biggest mystery I've yet to figure out is why soloing a dragon is no big deal but a bear will rip me a new one without thinking about it.
I found this too. I saw a Drgaon flying around the top of a mountain, "Oh cool!" says I, as I rush over to thwart the giant beast. As I'm engaging in epic battle with this dragon, a frost troll appears. "Oh shit!" says I and I proceed to run away as fast as possible!

How is it that there are creatures more fearsome than the damn dragons! Kyne's Peace is your friend.

OT: I'm having a problem with random dragon skeletons appearing in the middle of nowhere. They usually spawn just as I enter an area where I defeated one previously. There's one in Whiterun that's really doing the rounds at the moment.

Seriously, no, I've never seen anyone in my house except for Lydia.
Lydia is dead. Her steel sword has been enchanted, named 'Lydia' and mounted on the plaque at the top of the stairs.

What if...nah. There's no such thing as ghosts.
WAIT you can rename weapons? How the hell do I do this???

You have to upgrade it to 'Legendary' status.

As for how you do that, I have no idea.

You enchant them. At the enchant table, once you've arranged the weapon, enchantment and soul gem, hit Y and you can rename it.
It only works with un-enchanted weapons, though, obviously. And you can only do it once.

You can do it when you enchant an item. It's also apparently fixed with patch 1.2 if you're on PC - I was only able to rename a weapon once, afterwards I couldn't type in the text box ever again.

On PC at least, you hit R to make the item enchanted, but you hit F to change the name. I'm sure it's similar on consoles. It should tell you on the bottom of the screen.

Swimming Deer.

Underwater.

I shit you not.
I first saw that phenomenon with a rabbit, and then again with a fox. Skyrim's woodland creatures are all aquatic.
Lol I'll raise you amphibious bear. I was hanging around by a river pondering what to do. I'd probably been looking at that river for at least a minute and nothing suspicious about it. I start to wade across then suddenly this bear stands up on it's haunches and does it's big attack right in front of me..........

I hate Skyrim's bear population.

As Dovahkiin, we are genetically predisposed to slaying dragons, it's in our blood. Trolls and bears, as you may have noticed, are not dragons.

There are just so many Skyrim threads, I couldn't find the big questions-megathread one, so I'm just gonna have to ask here.

I went to my wife in Breezehome, Whiterun, and as I sat next to her in front of the fire in the front room, I saw a brown-cloaked figure with a steel mace at his hip just going out the front door. Assuming it was a thief, I pulled my sword and dashed outside to give him a good what-for, but when I went out...Nobody. I even reloaded the autosave, and surveilled the door, hoping to catch him. But..still nothing.

So has anybody else had this problem, or any other mysterious occurrences? And can somebody tell me what happened?
It's a bug. When NPC's are talking to you and you go through a door, sometimes they get teleported inside along with you.
So who was the NPC? Who wears a brown cloak with a hood, and carries a mace? It wasn't the thief uniform, since they have trousers.

This was not trousers.

I went to the place (forget the name, uh windhelm?) where ulfric stormcloak lives. Being an imperial I decided it would be in everyones best interest if I just murdered Ulfric. First time i tried hacking him apart fast with my axes. He cast some sort of spell that made my weapons disappear while he shouted "DIDNT EXPECT THAT DID YOU?!" So I reloaded, hid in a corner while he was walking away and quickly hit him 3x rapid shot to the head with my bow. Then I got my fire hands out and blasted the fool down! He was mighty, I couldn't kill him quickly and there were more and more people piling into the room to take swings at my head. I drank an invisibility potion to no avail and i jumped around the room and this was before i knew how to sprint (I have mad juke skills thanks to tanks in l4d and l4d2). Finally an opening in the legions of stormcloaks! FUS RO DAH! I quickly equipped dual fireballs and KAAAAAHHH MAAAAAAAAY AHHHHH MAYYYYYYYY AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I SUCCESSFULLY SLAYED ULFRIC STORMCLOAK! I ran around his keep for at least 5 minutes trying to find the door (shut up I was inebriated) while chugging back health pots due to the numerous archers now in the room. Start screaming FREEDOM OR DEATH! I find the door, barrel out of it and start running, where to at this point, I was unsure. But I start hauling ass past more guards. SOOOO MANY GUARDS. I run through the labyrinth that is uhhhh windhelm? When suddenly A WILD DOCK APPEARS! THIS IS MY ESCAPE! RUUUUN OH SHIT 10 LIFE JUMP! *SPLOOSH* FREEEEEEEE WILLLLLY! I MADE IT! I FUCKING KILLED THAT JERK AND I LIVED! I swim to shore and collapse on the waterfront exhausted. I regain my composure and simply walk back into (fuck windhelm?) Guards suddenly dont give a fuck. walk around like nothing happened. YESSS this means i get to see his body! Actually WALK back to the keep so everyone can see what a bad ass I am. EVERYONE FEARS ME! I finally enter the keep.
*subtitles* Jarl Ulfric Stormcloak "and what would you have me do?"

I've seen the Headless Horseman roaming the roads. Tried to talk to him, but couldn't. Tried to attack him, but couldn't. (He was a ghost, as was his horse).
If you follow him, he leads you to a graveyard, where there's nothing of interest. I was quite disappointed.

OT: Other than the arrow-and-magic immune NPC's I've run into from time to time, nothing comes to mind.
Well your suppose to go to the grave with the skeleton with the chopped off head. Theres his helmet you can get, it's nothing special though

I was walking through the streets of Whiterun when I found the corpse of the male blacksmith who runs the Shieldmaiden (I think that's what it's name was.)

So what was my only logical recourse?

Loot his corpse, reanimate him, and then parade his undead ass in front of his daughter. Oh Skyrim....

One time in Oblivion, I was in the inn in Skingrad, and this invisible (chameleon in fact) guy started attacking one of the patrons. This was the middle of the day and I hadn't murdered anybody. Also, it didn't happen when I reloaded to find out who it was, and still don't know to this day.

I was riding somewhere with my recently purchased horse when i saw two mammoths. They glitched out, one flew up into the air and died prompting the other one to attack me (but i've already spoken about this in an earlier thread). After slaying the mammoth... and a nearby cave bear attracted by the commotion, I looked around for my horse wondering why he hadn't helped me in the battle. I see my horse laying dead just in front of a sabercat. i came to the conclusion that during my fights, they must have run into each other and somehow managed to kill each other at exactly the same time. The humour of imagining this incident overwhelmed my anger of just wasting 1000 gold on a horse i'd only ridden for 3 minutes, so i carried on my journey (i usually stole horses, but i'd had a fight with this dude who looked after them and somehow become friends with him, so i felt bad stealing one).

I arrived at solitude, did the necessary quest and from then on spent time fast travelling between cities. It wasn't until i needed to get to an area i had yet to explore that i decided to steal another horse and continue on my journey. I fast travelled to the stables closest to my destination and lo and behold, next to me is my... white... spotted horse? Wait, i thought you were slain... and weren't you... brown? Least the horse next to the sabercat was brown.
I was confused, but happy to see a horse that I didn't have to steal and we adventured a little more. I've come to the conclusion that the brown horse with the sabercat wasn't actually my horse, just some other mysteriously dead horse that i found whilst my horse trotted off to who knows where and the reason my horse never returned because i only fast travelled to places that my horse couldn't enter.

Oddly enough though, i've also seen a dead brown horse surrounded by dead bandits in my travels. This itself is a bit of a mystery. Are there wild brown horses traversing the plains of skyrim, battling violent npc's/creatures as they go?
