Skyrim not as good as everyone says?

All I don't like is some of the character animations. But they don't even get me out of the immersion, I think it's really awesome. Oh and I think a little bit more things could be explained. I never knew how to pick up stuff without putting it in your inventory, how to hotkey stuff and I still don't really know how alchemy works. I guess that it all comes down to having the right ingrediënts, but there's no clear way to "hunt" for a specific kind of ingredient. Good thing that there's shops, though.

How Alchemy Works (A Beginners Guide):

-Find "stuff" (Ingredients)
-Go to the "table" (Alchemical Table)
-Put stuff A with stuff B with stuff C
-???
-Repeat
-???
-Profit (I.E.- Levels)

I don't even bother with recipes, though they are around here and there. I just like to throw stuff together!

I'm also slightly annoyed by how little money the vendors have. I spent 2 hours yesterday travelling around and just selling stuff to every vendor I could find. I came away with 20000 extra gold though

If you sheathe your weapon when they're attacking you, you'll surrender and they'll arrest you. Unless your speech skill is super low, or they're super pissed, in which case, your probably best off joining the thieves guild and having your bounty erased, or if you have a high illusion skill you can try to use Calm on them, but they're fairly high level so you'll need a good illusion skill to do it.

ok maybe i said it wrong, yes i understand the hype may have effected my view on it a bit but like certain points are just lacking in terms of ui as people have said with the controls and the menu system. But if this game was compared to many other games in terms of combat it would loose majorly, even in fable ( yes i know used this already and maybe slightly biased ) but if i was on low hp i wouldnt have to open the menu go to items/potions/hp pot to use it. Or if i wanted to switch from sword to bow then switch to magic soo much hassel. Maybe i am just nit picking because i do enjoy just batting the hell out of people with my sword but the entire hybid-combat feels clunky to me. Maybe mods can be made to short cut switching to bow / switching magic / using potions?

If you have never played an RPG before, it's great.
If you have, and expect some sort of evolution from Oblivion considering the 5 1/2 year gap, you will be disappointed as there is barely any difference and certainly not 5 1/2 years of development in it. .

Skyrim is, instead of a BioWare-style railroading game with just enough content to get you from A to B, a free and open lore-seeped adventure where you can fuck off and do exactly what you want at any given time.

People with short attention spans or little appreciation for depth and intelligent design tend to not like Elder Scrolls games, but instead tend to prefer the more simplistic but more bombastic and glossy BioWare RPG's.

In some cases it can be an age thing as well, you need maturity to enjoy a game such as Skyrim.

Is it really that hard to believe someone doesn't like something you do?
Hahahaha free? Go play Morrowind then tell me Skyrim is "free"; try dumbed down and very, very limited.
Do what you want? Try levitating into the areas you wish, whilst making a fireball machine gun ring and a "holy shit its gone tits up - lets use fire, ice and lighting" apocalypse amulet. Or become a god who can leap 3 stories and arrows are as good as .50 cal rounds. That is freedom. Skyrim is pathetic in comparison.
And by the way, I'm almost certainly older, and most likely maturer, then you, so quit the condescending undertones; I'm a vet gamer and Skyrim is garbage compared to what Bethesda have made in the past.

Actually, Morrowind was my favorite game in history up until the moment Skyrim crawled under my skin. You most definitely didn't give it a chance if you're so hardnecked. I don't believe for a second anyone who truly loved Morrowind could ever hate Skyrim in such a flagrant way.

So what did I miss in Skyrim? How does it fair to Morrowind? Dumbed down - check. Far less freedom - check. Buggy as hell - check. Graphically dated - check.

Which part was the selling point again?

Now why should enjoying the rich & vastly more free world of Morrowind mean that I should inherently love the dated, paint-by-numbers RPG that is Skyrim?

I like everything in the game and if you only just started playing, I don't think you have played enough to form a proper opinion. I thought the tutorial was lame but as soon I got out into the world it became the best game i had ever played.

Most people on the escapist who don't like it are just having their wahs trying to be cool.

u make me lol ! "wahs" i dont what that means and no i am not trying to be cool? What makes you cool for not liking a game that many others like? I thoguht it would be the other way around ^^. I just think it doesn't deserve all the hype it is getting and there are many points where it could be redone atleast 5 times better.

Imagine a remake of Fable lost chapters in this time...
