Is doing what you can (easily?) do to reduce suffering a fragile sense of morality?

What exactly is a fragile sense of morality and is having it such a bad thing? (REAL men kill animals)....
Lets not say real men kill animals in many species the female hunts. But yes, real carnivores (or omnivores) kill animals, or scavenge remains. Life is the same whether it flora or fauna, so lets stop worrying about what some people choose to hunt and eat and concern ourselves with preserving the environment, not for the precious seals but for the humans. That's what really matters, a sustainable human population. Besides life is suffering, unless you didn't get the memo.

how about we all agree on this. if you morals tell you not to kill animals, don't do it. if you see that things ultimately don't matter if the seal dies, life your life as you would and just ignore the idiots, god knows there's no way to change the ignorant from what they are if they are not willing to change

Doesn't really explain what a fragile sense of morality is or why having one is bad.

I'm interested to see if I have one. I've already stated I understand that suffering exists but I still don't understand why I wouldn't do what I can to REDUCE suffering.

So lets stop demonizing the Newfies, or any nation who goes about this practice. We need to look at real issues, or we could stop hunting the seals, but I better here a few stories about how the diminishing ice in the arctic circle has led to an uncontrolled starving seal population. And we the Canadian people aren't making any headway in culling the herd, because when their population crashes a great deal of them are going to feel a lot more pain than a quick death.
Technically this isn't an 'either or' issue. With such a large society we could do without seal killing as well as reduce carbon production/killing in third world countries/poverty/hunger.
And yet the planet is fubar, cute things really don't matter. Sure as a society we could do a lot, but we certainly don't. So maybe we can only deal with one subject at a time, would you put a seal hunt on the top or bottom of the to do list?
'cept for all those social changes that happened during war... (see US civil rights during Korean and Vietnam war, or overthrow of British rule in India and Pakistan during WW2).

Well I certainly got what I wanted out of this thread, and that was to prove I could start a hot thread. Check and mate. Still I could care less about the seals.

Also a bullet is an inefficient way to kill something. If your shot by a bullet you need to bleed out to die.
Hydrostatic shock and shock actually make bullets very effective at killing.
Hydrostatic shock is interesting (never heard of it till now) but it still doesn't make it as effective as clubbing since theres no guarantee of hydrostatic shock.
