Actually, Mothman is a cryptid, that is, a creature that is known to possibly exist, though whose existance has no scientific proof.Sneaklemming said:Surely the slender man is simply an inspiration from the moth man and other myths.
Nor should you believe it, as it was a made upmonster on Something Awful.Altorin said:the Marble Hornets videos were freakin' great, but I don't actually buy the myth, or that they were anything but a terrifically done horror movie.

In fairness I did link to the very point in the SA thread where the name "slender man" was created.jh322 said:These things are great and entertaining and scary, but there are people who think its real. That, for me, is a bit of a problem.
It's not nice to knowingly encourage people to believe something like this.
Do love the vids though. And I now follow the twitter too.
Sorry, I wasn't criticising you, I think healthy speculation is all well and good, I meant the negativity towards the guys making the videos. They're doing really well with them and they're good fun, but their presentation should, in my opinion, be a little more explicitly fictional, young people and the stupids might find it hard to differentiate between fact and fiction on this topic otherwise. Specifically, the twitter, is deliberately misleading.Sneaklemming said:In fairness I did link to the very point in the SA thread where the name "slender man" was created.jh322 said:These things are great and entertaining and scary, but there are people who think its real. Regardless, there's something shared throughout humanity, that fear of the tall, wan and pale creature.
What could it have been that terrorised us so much so far in prehistory for that fear to become instinct?
