He only exists because you think about him. The publicity from this thread alone...
I'm holding out for a slender man movie or at the very least, a Saturday morning cartoon series.

I can't find anything interesting on the moth people or "tall" men. S I guess I'm going to close the book on this interesting piece of fiction.

He sounds kind of like Candleja-

You know Candlej-

Oh come on this is stupid, you know I'm talking about you thing that rhymes with Randletrack.

I don't think Slenderman has anything on Sandaltrack.

But I'm feeling relaxed. It's not like he's real or anything.

I just watched all of the marblehornets videos... and I have to say it's rather less scary with Evony ads flashing at you in the background.

So what with the 'deaths' of Marble Hornets and JustAnotherFool, we now have EverymanHYBRID, the first of which is viewable here [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JS7GZhNb7eM]!

Also it starts slow but gives you some tips on healthy living!

WHOA. Did we just revive a thread from the start of this year?

This guy freaks me out ONLY because he always reminds me of a recurring nightmare/sleep paralysis vision/hallucination I had as a kid. For years I repeatedly found myself briefly seeing a figure that I grew to dub "the Tall Man".

Basically Tall Man was a basically humanoid figure, but unnaturally tall, taller than any man I'd ever seen, and insanely thin to the point of impossibility. I used to reguarly witness him in my dreams, even normal dreams, just in the background. Even IF I forgot the dream, I always remembered if He was in it.

Like once, all I remember of one dream was a chain-link fence in the background, with the Tall Man standing behind it in shadow (he was always in shadow) looking at me.

Sorry, this has turned into me ranting about my childhood nightmare figure.

Basically, Slender Man freaks me out.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned already, but the 'Slender Man' either existed a hundred years ago, or we found a hint at his inspiration.
I am talking about the Phantom of the Opera. The literary version, not the musical.

-He's described as being practically skeletal, very tall and thin.
-I've heard that the Slender Man has a Death's Head for a face, and also that his face changes to suit whoever sees it. The Phantom owns a variety of masks, but favours his Death's Head.
-The Slender Man entrances and captures children. The Phantom entranced and captured a young opera singer.
-The Slender Man notoriously turns and hunts his hunters. During the events of the novel, Joseph Buquet spotted the Phantom, and went to hunt him down. The Phantom waited for him to pass and proceeded to violently strangle him. He almost did the same to Raoul and the Persian when they came to retrieve Christine.
-Their dress sense is remarkably similar.

The only real difference between the two is that the Phantom cannot extend his limbs at will. Or at least, he never demonstrated nor mentioned that he could. So he most likely couldn't.

Slender Man really scares me sh!tless. Though it does remind of another faceless man that wears a suit and that is the Terrible Trivium from the Phantom Tollbooth.

There's not a lot of tall, black suited men/monsters in Lovecraft's work. If they're in a suit, they're usually human (Howie liked his suits) or just mad scientists like Charles Dexter Ward/Joseph Curwen and Crawford Tillinghast. Nyarlathotep wore a suit a few times, I believe, in his 'Black Man' guise.

Anywho, Slender Man is awesome. Fuckn' creepy, but a really well thought out and delivered idea.
I first heard of him on a bus going down to Killarney in Ireland with my youth group. A frienda nd I were deep in conversation about the Cthulhu Mythos and we got to talking about scary shit. The friend told then about Slender Man and about cave paintings and photo's. Now, it was black dark, the dead of night outside and there weren't many lights on in the coach. I couldn't see shit outside save for a few shimmering lights from country homes between the tree's. Needless to say, shit myself.
It was only some time later I discovered the whole thing was a meme.

I think I'll go watch Marble Hornets now.

Ah yes, Slendy. A brilliant myth that does an excellent job of scaring the piss out of anyone who really gets into it. Whoever thought up the whole deal with "The more you focus on him, the more likely he is to take interest you" was a genius.

I mean despite the fact that this myth was created in a thread for made-up myths, it can still keep me up at night sometimes.

Of course there is that whole thing where the only way that he exists is if you think about him. Now don't think about him...

Wow... just read through the first page or so... this is mostly fake, read the OP before getting sucked in.

I would love for something like this to be true, it truly is a great myth and I love the people on the net who propagate it :) There are a SHIT TON of slender blogs... all of them are fake, they are people trying to convince you it's real, because it is what we in the biz call an ARG Alternate Reality Game.

My point is this: Slenderman is awesome, look for evidence, but be warned that paranoia is something everyone will get if they think about it too much.
