The constant trend in all the 'slender man' mythos is that the more research put into the search for the entity; the more that it comes in contact with the researcher.
Sounds like you just fucked us all over then. After all, humans are curious beings :)

EDIT: After watching entry one, I can't say I'm convinced. It looked pretty fake. The photo montage video was interesting though, some of the pictures are a bit... unnerving.

A well detailed myth is almost indistinguishable from a well detailed hidden truth. Especially when people want to feel part of something bigger.

Look at the Flying Spaghetti Monster, originally made to mock religion, it's now become a religious icon.
A mock religious icon
Check the interwebs and tell me it's noodley appendages haven't reached religious status on some sites ;)

Go about your business, do not concern yourself with Slender Man or the Silent Watching. It is not important and irrelevant.

Have a nice day :)

Is this going to turn into another one of those "3am post your scary stories threads"?
He's not that scary, actually I can barely see what everyone is talking about. Kind of looks like a telephone pole that someone put a tshirt on (actually if I saw a telephone pole with a tshirt on, I would probably become traumatized and cry a little).
Haha that pic scares me lol. As for this thread, i've never heard of this "slender man" but i now get the feeling i'm seeing him. Thankyou for warping my mind with creepy tales that i usually fall for and end up going crazy because. Now every shadow i see will look like him.

Bravo! Quite right too, I doctored the photos and put the stuff in there, I want to see if anyone believes it ;D

This Marble Hornets stuff is so obviously viral advertising for an upcoming film.
I had a feeling you were having a laugh there, mate.
The worrying thing is, I don't think everyone else did.

It's really quite scary how many people buy into viral advertising and ghost stories.
Really my point wasn't so much to mock as to elucidate the fact that people, as you immediately picked up on, view the world through their own personal lens. That's why the images have the Slender Man in levels of varying obscurity.

I'm not so sure thats the reason behind it. People enjoy making these myths, maybe it was just fun?
Yes, perhaps, but given the relatively low costs for 'suspenseful' voyeuristic films, like the Blair Witch Project and the success of viral marketing coupled with the fact that the superimposed/occluded Slender Man shots in the video are a touch too professional to have come from a random fear monger (video editing is much, much lengthier than photo editing) it appears that they're either a film student's project or advertising. The twitter feed, in-depth wikis etc all suggest advertising because whilst it is conceivable that a student might leak their awesome cool film project why would they create all the rest of it?

Ehhh? Pardon my ignorance, but I still have no clue what the fuck this "Slender Man" is. All I could gather was that some really tall entity that goes around and murders people.

Please elaborate, because I am completely out of the loop...

This reminds me of a myth I heard about a grey man, who was big and had red eyes. Although I'm pretty sure he was tied to a specific mountain somewhere. Although fog did thicken as he approached. There's a couple of anecdotes about him, including some hikers, and a crashed fighter pilot in world war II I think. In fact if you pick up any general paranormal book there will likely be some reference to similar stories.

The devolution of a legend to meme status? Not so good.
That video though... Still scary. Makes me wonder if it's easy to make a scary "factual" video with a soundtrack like that, and a couple of b&w photos.

I wonder, has anyone linked this [http://jafool.wordpress.com/] yet?
Fixed? Pretty sure that this is the website you mean?

It seems fairly unrelated to a casual glance except for some references to someone disappearing after contact with the supernatural.

Anyone else know what it's about?

some of the videos it looks to me like it's some guy in a suit... maybe it's the goverment stalking him :D those guys do all kinds of silly stuff..

but.. when people in the U.S. experience stuff like this... why in the name of the spaghetti monster, don't you just buy a gun and shoot the bugger who's stalking you :D if it's real, well.. then you're f'ed anyway.. but if it's just a stalker, then there's one less xD

anyway.. i'm glad i got the day of tomorrow so i can stay up all night with games and loud music <.<

Are there any actual videos, or just the black & white photo montage?
I dunno; there seems to be alot of literature on this type of thing; but only the "Marble Hornets" videos seem directly related.
I do like the Marble Hornets videos, it's a very interesting ARG.

Oh is that what it is?. Though it was a low hanging branch or something. Huh, it's not very scary.

No, but it is a little unnerving...

You find actors, I'll start typing the script. What about that guy who was Lurch in the Adams Family, is he still alive?
