Slow loading times on the escapist

Is it just me, or is the Escapist loading its webpages REALLY slowly?
I click to go to a new page and i get the blue & black sides, the Escapist logo and the white center background.. but everything else is blank. It takes around 10 seconds for everything to load. Ive noticed this in the corner (in my status bar) during the slow loading times, its what i believe is causing the page to take so much time:

Anyone else having this problem?

I sometimes have problems during peak times for American users. However I don't have exactly the symptoms you're describing, and I'm definitely not having the problem right at this moment.

Yeah, all the time, for weeks now. It's this sites major drawback, it's horribly slow.

I'm having it as well, although from what I can tell it's not happening to everyone, or even most people.

yeah. I sometimes can't even get it to load, but I'll click on GameFAQs, and BOOM, its right there, and this site doesn't even have words yet.

Mine is fine. I don't honestly notice much of a difference this and only sites loading times, except when I open a lot at once.

I'm doing fine, and I'm on a 10-year-old computer and downloading a game at the moment.

Perhaps we should all delete our inboxes to free up space?

Same situation, except that all the other sites run like shit, too, and Firefox crashes and freezes all the time.
Also, the Internet connection speed is a consistent "bwuh" and Steam games refuse to run and lag like all hell.
What were we talking about, again?

Sometimes it's slow, yeah. Adspam, I guess. Maybe it's my imagination, but it seems like more and more of the site is being taken over by ads. Way it goes, I guess.

Oh, and I've noticed a HUGE spike in the number of animated avatars. Hmm... Anyone think hundreds of animated gif images could slow down your comp when you click on a thread and it has to load every one? [sarcasm]I dunno.[/sarcasm]

And yeah, The Escapist seems pretty slow for me as well, but other sites seem fine. Problems at HQ?

I think its the script. Once in a while, a box will pop up and ask if you want to turn off the script, as it may slow down the browser

I get pretty bad loading here when I try open it for the first time or if I try opening topics in different tabs...it really hates that.
