I never threatened anyone.
I am suggesting that running one's mouth about things,
Tends to lead to offending people.
Because sometimes people have a personal stake in the thing you are running your mouth about.
Threatening or not, your language was clearly combative.

Any statement about how people should behave will inevitably be personally relevant to someone, somewhere. It doesn't mean it was deliberately aimed at that individual.

Furthermore, there is the implicit assumption that offending people is universally a negative outcome to should be avoided. I disagree.

Forget the rape issue, dressing like a slut is nothing to advocate for in the first place.
Why not?
Because dressing like a slut connotates promiscuity. I'm sure your reply will be something to the effect of challenging me over why promiscuity is a negative behaviour, so let me address that now: I see it as cheapening and devaluing relationships for all parties involved. Of course, people are free to act as they please, just as I'm free to think less of them for that.

Did this image make anyone else angry? I know only men can legally be charged for rape but women do rape as well and from some articles that I have perused it's equally bad if not worse.

But anyway..... from what I gather this is partially about equality of genders something that I don't think will happen for a looooooooooooooong time if ever because we live in a world that isn't any where near equal, on a side note I don't think that we are equal genders I think women are better than men so don't strive for equality become better than what we are throw off the shackles of oppression, tare of those constrictive garbs that have adorned your bodies for far too long and run naked through the streets.
She probably should have put something along the lines of "Tell rapist not to rape." Or something more equal, because you are right about the women rape, though it is few and far between.

I think anyone should be allowed to wear whatever they want without fear of getting raped and then be blamed for it, I mean, in the middle east in olden days, the woman was stoned to death if she was raped. That's not exactly ideal.

HOWEVER

I get angry at women who dress in deep V-necks and tight clothes, and then bring all hell down on top of anyone who stares. When you dress like that, it's in order to get attention. Blaming people for staring in a situation like that is just stupid.

It's a bit hypocritical to say a guy can be a huge whore and dress in muscle tees and low riding jeans, but if a woman shows some skin she should feel ashamed and "deserved it".
They should be able to dress however they want without being put at risk of rape.

Don't wear a prostitute's uniform and you won't be treated like a prostitute.
In my opinion this thread should end with this.
So... you walk up to them, ask for a price list. They tell you "I'm not for sale." You apologize and go look for another person in a sexual service provider's uniform, until you find one who is open for business. No rape occurs.

Wow, we actually agree on something!

Wait, you mean how prostitutes are treated in areas where prostitution is both legal and regulated, right?
It might seem like a joke but I've actually seen people do that oddly enough.

Meh. Women are so fucked up; I've long since given up listening to their nonsense.

Did you know that 25% of female rape victims had an orgasm during the rape? That's what I'm talking about.

And feminism! If feminism is about equality then why is it called feminism? I cannot take feminism seriously until they (a) change the name or (b) just admit that it's about female supremacy, not equality.

On topic: I don't condone rape under any circumstances, and I certainly don't want the western world to start behaving like Muslims and force their women to cover up, but women being labelled 'sluts' for how they dress? I actually kinda like that. It adds some counterbalance. Without it they'd be free to cock-tease us men to death.
Please tell me that you're trolling. Please. I don't think I can sleep easy tonight otherwise.

On an only slightly related note, I find it weird how everyone automatically seems to assume that women who dress up nicely do so solely in order to tease, attract or get the attention of men. What if I want to look good simply because it makes me feel good and gives me confidence in myself?

This is the problem with using sloppy language. Yes, you attract more attention, but nobody can figure out what the hell you're trying to say, so what good is it?

Everyone who replied to this thread seems to think everyone else who replied to this thread is saying something different than what the person who wrote that post thought they were saying.

It's going to get worse if you guys don't agree on some terminology.

Then I think you're fairly shallow for needing apparel to derive confidence from, rather than taking it from - for example - your achievements, mentality or natural physical appearance.

However, I certainly won't stop you from doing it.

I think you've totally missed the point of the article, I support them on this. They should be able to choose how they dress without the worry of being raped.
Yeah, it is amazing how the OP missed the point when starting a thread.
I fully support their movement. Gender equality should be encouraged. I call men who sleep around "man whores", anyway.

See? That's exactly what I'm talking about. You dress to kill because it makes you feel good and gives you confidence in yourself, and you don't even realise why it does! Sooo fucked up.

It's not an either/or kinda thing. People derive different sorts of confidence from all sorts of things. Is it truly shallow to want to look in a mirror and say "hey I look pretty good today" and have that make you feel good? No.

I agree with you. I genuinely just like to wear dresses. Sometimes for no reason. They are comfortable and make me feel good.

Goddamn feminists.
You're a "slut" = loose sexual morals = generally regarded as "dirty". Trying to make the word "slut" into something less offensive MIGHT work, but you'll always be a woman with loose sexual morals which is still regarded as something negative in society.
If you enjoy being a slut, fine. Then be a slut and be happy with it. This will more-than-likely not change a thing.

I also love how they argue against the negative term in regards to sex for work. That's called prostitution and it's illegal, ya "slut".

Patterns of Behavior in Adolescent Rape_ by Vinogradov et al. in the
American Journal of Orthopsychiatry 58(2) April 1988 pp 179-87:

71% of the rapists were under the influence of drugs (inc. alcohol).
15% reported taking drugs less than 15 minutes prior to the rape.
21% premeditated the rape.
27% committed the rape while committing another crime.
16% were impulsive/spontaneous, "the victim was simply an easy
available 'innocent bystander'".
7% were committed after an argument with the victim.
6% after sexual foreplay with the victim.

89% of the rapists described the victims as not being provocative,
"The victims did not verbally provoke nor were sexually
attractive to the attacker".
Even an overwhelmingly large portion of rapists don't believe the crap about provocative dress causing rape. You'd think people would listen to the actual rapists rather than "conventional wisdom".

General population: dumber than rapists.
And people are still insisting otherwise. The general population: I know better than some stupid statistics gathered by a scholarly source!

I'm afraid most prostitutes get paid. Rape victims on the other hand...

I'm sure we can all agree that when X calls Y a slut, it's because X is jealous. Nothing more, nothing less.

Why is wanting to look good arbitrarily considered shallow in women, but not usually in men? There's nothing wrong with a girl wanting to dress up a little.
