I disagree - how on earth was an active on Gears 1 fair - it meant the sniper took no skill and any "scrub" could use it... Gears 2 at least got that much right; the sniper shouldn't outright down someone (that is at full health) unless its a headshot.lizards said:

You've obviously not played many shooters because the Gears sniper is possibly one of the easiest to use; sure its a little inconsistent, but the bullet always goes straight and they, for the most part, have fixed the hit detection.
So say whatever you want for all I care; I don't quite see why I'd lie over something so trivial though...
True some games have uberpowered foot sniper rifles where shooting someone's big toe of blast their health bar to zero.
But I would say I'm a good sniper. If I played as any supporting gun it would be sniper in Halo, or when I get the chance on a good map on TF2 but now I play allot more cause the huntsman is awesome in tunnels and corridors.

well you said that you played with top 300 clan or whatever so i thought we were having a state stupid shit no one cares about contest and no i didnt record myself playing and why the hell would i do that just when i started playing a lot i looked up my stats and found that i was in the 2000s so i played more and started watching my rank and that was the highest rank i hit since then i dont play half as much as i used to so my ranks have fallenD_987 said:

I generally don't play as a sniper all that often because I see myself as being more valuable as a rifleman with a squad than being one of two guys that just sits there and waits to see if an enemy will wander by. However, I play the sniper role once in a while just for fun.
I played as a sniper a few times in several different games of warfare (ArmA MP mode). I remember one match where it took my spotter and I about an hour to get to our position (about 250m from the enemy encampment). We caused a lot of havoc and drew some fire once they had us located, but we managed to get out alive and make it back with some minor injuries. Damn that was a fun game!

That's basically where all the conditions come from. Halo is proably the reason why we have so many bad names. I think everyone who has the name Master Chief in there gamer tag should be banned from Xbox live. come on thats like a triple offence.Symp4thy said:

Thirdly you obviously care enough because you haven't stopped replying - and I don't mean a top 300 clan as in the Gears 2 leaderboards; I meant on Gamebattles.com a competitive gaming site that is owned by MLG. I have since stopped playing on the site (for a good while now) but I used to be a decent rank and had been in a number of high-ish ranking teams (if you weren't in the top 50 you weren't considered to be of a high rank). That includes a top 300 Gears 2 clan, a top 600 COD4 clan, an overall rank within the top 90,000 players (out of over 500,000 - and ranks were not held to the individual player so I have no idea just how many people use/d the site) and 7th place in the Soul Calibur 4 ladder. And I don't think I have a "I'm better than everyone else complex" - you appear to have been one off a handful of people that have ever said that to me on the site, so if I appear arrogant thats why.
Finally; as I have also stated in this thread - I rarely play shooters anymore; I haven't played Gears online for a while, and only played it for the campaign on my new profile (that I have had a month now). (As in if you start challenging me or whatever). So my facts regarding Gears may well have changed - after all EPIC can't make a good multi-player game on consoles to save their skins...
I might be one of the only snipers you'd like. My CoD4/CoD:WaW sniper classes are an assault rifle with a sniper rifle instead of my back-up pistol(overkill perk). I capture objectives, and fight on the frontline with my assault rifle, but I still have a sniper rifle to countersnipe and pick off enemies at long range.Ripshot said:

Im not trying to make myself out to be the ultimate sniper, im a good sniper, not because i can snipe quite well, its 65% anything but, i can cook grenades so when they bounce they explode (on games i can), i use my pistol like i would a machinegun, only more accurate and each bullet counts for me, i have great eyesight, so when i see a slight movement on screen i react (usually is nothing; most of the time on CoD4 its a paper or burnt paper), i make smart moves compared to the normal "run like hell", and i don't camp the way most of you guys think, i try going spec. OP on the enemy's ass, getting to a sniper position BEHIND your lines, if it comes to engagement, either i'll throw one of my greandes, (i NEVER on CoD4 noob-tube, or throw the grenade at the start, i keep it for later use.) get them with my pistol, or get mowed down. usually its the last one ¬.¬". Also not to mention people keep going on about snipers not going for objectives, i do, so i don't see what you complaint is there.

Ahaha, i know the type, its better then the 12 year olds who go "DID YOU SEE THAT SHOT!? IT WAS AWESOME, HE WAS RUNNING AND I SHOT HIM IN HIS CHEST" the only times i go "wow" is when i do a freakin' awesome (+luck) shots, like on Hardcore Search and Destroy Ambush, i got the the sniping point next to the huge container, took a shot, and took 4 people out, my first words were "Fuckin' A" or just generic wall penetration headshots, feels awesome when it worksCuniculus said:

Guns aren't designed with skill in mind, they're not designed because some ones going to put it into a game and everyone's going to have great fun pretending they're killing each other.
Guns are designed to kill people. This means that being able to fire "X amount of bullets" is a very good thing, because it does the killing bit very well. The problem with FPS's is that we forget that what we're doing is in now way similar to real life.
I mean how many times have you heard on the news that Middle Eastern rebel groups are complaining because our guns are imba and our snipers are too accurate.
