I love how gamers who play snipers get all jizzed up over how lone wolf and awesome it is. Or they are. You're just another person who screams out for heals to me even though you're supposed to be lone wolf. Nothing worse than seeing a sniper come running back to general play to get a top off before getting wasted by a machine gun toting foaming at the mouth person.

I'm a meh sniper. I don't bother with it, I tend to be an assault rifle rusher...well, rush is the wrong word for it. I go in tactically, but the second I see someone, they're perforated.
Avoiding snipers, on the other hand...I just don't do it. They're always all "boom!" and "die!" and stuff and I'm all "Gah! My most of me!".

I'm a sniper, but I consider myself to be one of the rare "Battle Snipers". I travel the map, using the power of instant kills/crits from headshots to take out enemies from afar, then run in to advance on the objective. And, if the area is too hot, I always can revert back to the "stand still and shoot" method.

Snipers are always a drain on the rest of the players. Most never move, most have no skill, and most just sit and wait for you to run into their sights.
Back in the Quake days, that was called "camping" and was a bannable offense. Now there's a class dedicated to them.

I like sniping people in the head but I'm not so great at it. Makes it more satisfying when I get it right though. I was playing Gears of War 2 the other day and some guy kept whining at me because I shot him in the head when he was standing still (and sometimes facing me as well) and he was all like "OMG You suck because you can't hit me while I'm moving!" Well don't stand still in the middle of the map then, you cretin! It doesn't take a genius to work that one out.

There's nothing a decent assault rife can't accomplish, unless for some reason you really really need to hit that guy 1,000 yards away.
Also, there's this idea that the Sniper class requires some amount of ultra-human skill to master. This couldn't be further from the truth. How hard is it really to sit in one place and wait for someone to walk in front of you? Now, if you are an actual sniper in the armed forces, then, yes, you have that skill. In game? No. Especially when there's no bullet drop, no need to lead your target, no adjusting for wind and atmospheric variables and (importantly) no need for a spotter.
I'm looking at you CoD4.
let me clarify why the sniper is regarded as such a good weapon for those of you who are unsure the sniper is extreamly accurate and at any range you have the ability for a 1 hit kill withg a shotgunb only short range works with an assalt rifle you have between close and medium to decently long range and an smg or lmg is short range to medium while a sniper is accurate and 1 shot capable from point blank to over 2 miles (world record sniper kill is from a distance of 2.31Km just over 2 miles) and all it takes to be able to 1 shot 1 kill everybody easily is practice if you get good with the sniper it is all you will ever need
Well if your an Assault Rifle user, surely you would have taken out a sniper, at long range, now don't you find that rather strange, that someone who should kill you, you kill with ease, of course not you think "its your right" but i argue.Chester41585 said:

2. I'm not an average sniper, the reason i get more kills then the average is because i run up to the challenge when necessary, i use the pistol or revolver quite well and my grenades are "bounce-boom", basically, so you can't stereotype.
3. If there are two things i HATE because there not in an FPS is jamming guns/breaking guns and dipping bullets, i would love a HUGE map, where bullets dipped, guns (if shot) break and jam, Snipers would take five times as much skill to use, rooting out all the prick snipers from the real ones.
