im a pretty decent sniper, i can shut down an area, or join a firefight and shoot from the back...
i dont bother with headshots unless necessary, its a giant bullet, easiest target works, i had the position as sniper for a good clan in cod4 so im ok

really do love the great shots though...

a wierd thing about me in halo 3 i can no scope ricochet shots to get kills better then i can just plain noscope them

also if you want to 1v1 me in gears of war 1 my gamertag LCU r0tmaster i'll be waiting
(i just wish i could do what my friend does eat ramen noodles with his left had talk on the phone with his girlfriend and blindfire headshot a whole team with his right hand)

also just to make things perfectly clear:
gears 1 > gears 2
gears 1 sniper >gears 2 sniper
gears 1 sniper actives gears 2 carmine
RAAM > skorge
sniper > everything
quickshots > wall peeking / corner sniping
Xbox > PS3

also stand still makes your head easier to pop off or dont makes no differance to me you still die i still get a kill but the only bad news is i still out of band-aids for your face

I think there is a difference between camping and strategy. I consider camping to be holeing up in some out of the way place to pick off an odd kill or 2 without being of use to anyone. Then there is strategy which is picking a place with useful defences that is going to bare the brunt of an enemy attack, which is not only logical but quite intelligent and useful to a team. Not really related to the actual subject i know, but there was some people talking about camping and I felt like makeing a statement.

i prefer the sniper tactic of you cant hit me if i NEVER stop moving around you randomly to the point where you cant lead a shot to know where my head will be because i dont even know where i'm going but i can keep track of you and put a bullet through your retina

For my money, I appreciate the sniper class being there in TF2, it adds variety, but...

I feel, on 2Fort for instance, someone goes sniper and starts popping heads in the centre of the map, so someone on the other team goes sniper and you've either:

A - Got a sniper duel going on, so that's one player from each time out of the game essentially.

or

B - Got pretty much a random chance of an instant kill as you try to progress with no real defence against it.

Still I'd not like to see them removed, they're fun at times, and can be very useful on any map at times.

Other games, I have no clue, not a huge FPS fan.

I've played as a sniper in every game I've played, mostly because I like to be able to shoot and not be shot back at. The games I play now, and snipe in, are Halo 3, COD4 + WaW and Battlefield: Heroes. I used to play Battlefield 2, and sniping was my favorite thing to do. I've tried most recent FPS games as well, also as a sniper (and every other class/strategy too).

Out of all the games I mentioned (or played), the battlefield ones easily require the most skill to be a sniper. Battlefield 2 and Bad Company both require leading the target, and targets at a distance are far enough to have the Coriolis effect. Battlefield 2 still stands out as my ultimate sniper game, as there are many sniping spots, hills and buildings that are accessable to a creative sniper. Also, as most of the maps are huge if played with big enough teams, the size of teams and map will let you fire off a LOT of ammunition, resulting in a LOT of kills. Battlefield Heroes is a good sniper match, with lots of accessories for the sniper...but its just too cartoony for me to actually get into.

Halo and COD sniping is much more fast-paced and way more based on finding a spot where you see their team and popping their heads off before they see you. I can snipe in both games, it just isn't as much fun...because in both games, as soon as you take a couple shots, the enemy team (if not pants-on-head retarded) will know exactly where you are. This is annoying, especially in Halo, as there is nothing like claymore or betties that you can cover your rear with. COD sniping does have those countermeasures, but its still all too easy to die from a guy sneaking by your teammates.

Its getting late, so I should wrap this up. My top sniping game award goes to Battlefield Bad Company and Battlefield 2, for the amount of skill required to actually get a kill at distance, as well as the plethora of possible sniping spots across all the maps.

Moral of the story is 2Fort is for Snipers who think they can play Sniper.

I do enjoy sniping and would call myself pretty good at most games.

On PC though. Since when were there FPS's on consoles? ^.^

Doesn't that sound a little hypocritical?

Look at the sniper statistics. [http://steamcommunity.com/id/mageman90/stats/TF2]
Im sorry, what? [http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198008777388/stats/TF2]

Also i was getting at the fact, it practically is a sniper, 3 shots of pure accuracy, and by scope i ment the ACOG,

Also i may have made a few mistakes with the weaponry, i haven't play CoD4 or looked at the weaponry related recently, i've been more concerned with weapons such as the L115A, and WWII weaponary, plus some "in production" weaponary.
Does it seem odd to anyone else that he has a 118 kill streak with 7 hours of sniper playtime?

Anyway, about the rest of your post: The M16 is accurate, yes. It also has low recoil. This doesn't make it cheap, nor does it make it a sniper rifle. It makes it an assault rifle.

Seriously. That's what they're designed to be. Accurate, low-recoil weapons for combat between 20 and 400 metres.
Orange map, large and sniper friendly, i got to admit, i almost got backstabbed twice (thank you, pyro) it was (as a friend worded it) a point and click adventure. an engee build a dispenser next to me because i needed the ammo XD.

Well in games there is 2 things missing that would make it like a proper shooter, 1. no jamming, WHY NO JAMMING! ITS REALISTIC! and 2. bullets don't dip...don't you find that a little strange.
Actually, now that I've looked at your stats again, I can safely say that your sniper record is somehow falsified. Your sniper stats record only one domination. It is impossible to get 118 kills in a server of 24 people without several more dominations, unless you stood and killed the same person for the entire game (which is not sniping, it is achievement farming).

The mathematics behind it are simple:

Three kills = Domination of that player
118 kills / 12 people (even teams in a 24 player match) = 9.8333...

This is more than three times the number of kills to dominate twelve people, yet you have only one domination in your steam account statistics.

Am I the only one who finds that a little bit suspicious?

Bugger. Now I feel guilty for trying to damage the reputation of a fellow gamer...

(If you want to get straight to the point, ignore the first paragraph)

Ok, so i hear about all these people go on about how great snipers they are saying stuff along the lines of "Oh im a great sniper, i never die" and so i think fair enough, your playing your ego a bit, but whatever. I try and give them an idea on how good i am, without trying to butter it up, im a fairly good sniper. I'm very accurate and battle-smart, but of course im not the best, i do screw up sometimes and i pay for it and die from some moron with a machinegun (FYI i hate machineguns, not so much the ones who use it well, but the ones that camp for the whole match).

Now to the point: People say there awesome snipers, i argue, without trying to brag, not many people beat or snipe me, its lying people, if you don't believe me, try me, i want people to stop saying there good with a sniper when there not.

you hit the nail on the head man im a gears sniper (2100 headshots which you know is a huge amount if you play gears) and sometimes ill sniper dual someone and then i go 5-0 and their like "o my brother was playing"

hope to play you some day see ya
I hate the gears of war sniping system, 1. you can use the sniper as a CQC weapon and 2. its one of the easiest ways to kill someone on Gears.

There are two types of gamers in the world, Snipers, and people who actually want to play the game. I prefer people in the second category.

There is an objective, people - the only way we're going to get it is if more of our side don't camp in random places around the map than the enemy. The other side always seems to work it out first :(

Those weren't snipers you were playing with. They were playing the game solely for the kills and would've stood around shooting at the enemy either way. A good sniper will cover the objective and tell the team when there are no enemies around.

I don't know how or why, but when I grab the sniper, I never tend to camp, but instead, move into a mid range from the enemy and snipe them from there. It's just my playing style, that and having terrible rifle itches.

I think people should be more game specific. Games like TF2 and CSS you can snipe at really close distances.
