Oh noes - they've stopped you quick-scoping. Perhaps now sniper rifles will be used for sniping.

I snipe all the time, and I'm not really worried about this. The only problem I can foresee is I'll be punished for being able to aim quickly, or I'll have to get used to tunnel vision(seriously, passively looking for targets through a scope is tedious.) Sometimes all you have is 1-2 seconds to make a shot before another player ducks into cover.

If it's really that bad, Treyarch might patch it at a later time. Snipers will just have to adapt until then.

You have never been able to not snipe from a distance in a CoD game, quit using that excuse.

2 to 3 seconds does sound extreme. I think a second would be good.

Frankly though I'm glad. Because now there won't be a bunch of twelve year olds screaming "I got a quick-scope!!!!" into the mike every five seconds. Hate those fuckers.

Awwwww poor CoD players having to learn to be patient and not expect everythig to just work for them. Aww muffin.

You know who quick scoped in the other CoD games?
My little brother and all of his 12 year old friends. Seriously the thickest group of people I have ever known think quick scoping is cool and they are the only group I have met who like this style of play... Think about that for a second.

Ok - perhaps sniper rifles will now be used exclusively, and by the majority, for sniping.

All I can say is yes, yes and thank you Treyarch. I should have my game within the hour; I'm even more excited to play at this point.

i think this is one of the best features of the new cod. snipers are not meant to use them like assualt rifles. (i wrote that slowly to emphasis my words, can you tell) they are meant to find a spot and snipe. funny that a sniper having to snipe instead of expecting there assualt riffly to be a 1 shot kill and 100% accurate.

why are you blaming aim assist. does the pc have aim assist?
I think every console shooter ever has some sort of aim assist and/or enlarged hit boxes due to analog sticks being far less accurate than a mouse is... PC games usually never needed it, but they are start to throw it into some now and it is sad...
maybe thats why i have such a hard time on a console. cause im trying to aim at the enemy instead of just shotting when im near enough. so consoles have aim assist, whats the point in playing a game that holdes your hand through it. anyone know how much its assists your aiming?

Oh my god they balanced the game so sniper rifles are doing what sniper rifles are meant to do...<.<

So it's not actually worthless, it's just going to be more realistic? I'm pretty sure that in real life snipers don't go around quickscoping

OH GOD NO!!!!!!

Are you saying that sniper rifles will now have to be used......... AS SNIPER RIFLES???

What is the world coming to.

OMG, you mean they are making snipers play like actual snipers? WTG, them! If you choose to play a sniper, you should actually snipe, not run and gun. And don't you get backup weapons anyway? Time to run and gun with the backup weapon and not your sniper rifle. If a real-life sniper tried that, he'd be dead.
Its not real life.

Its a video game. And its sniping is something that the Call Of Duty series has actually done well.

Until now.

Sniping will not stack up in this game. You snipe, you will lose.

Edit: Oh and this actually ruins "realistic sniping" as well.

It is the most annoying thing to wait for your scope to settle down to actually hit someone. And in a fast paced game like CoD, you don't exactly get that window of oppurtunity to take down a guy for more than a second a good deal of the time.

The best chance of you actually hitting someone is if they are standing still or looking in the opposite direction.

The most sense I have heard in this post so far. It irritates me when people post things like "Quickscoping is bullshit' and then add 'But I don't quickscope so it doesn't bother me.' Quickscoping in COD4 and CODWAW were quite difficult but was good when mastered. That's what it should be like- a challenge, but still possible with practice, not a walk in the park like mw2.

Snipers already work kinda like that in Team Fortress 2. (what with the charging and all)
And a good sniper is still a good sniper. And one that will rack up an epic kill count.
I don't see the problem here.

It depends on the game really. For Black Ops, I have no clue. Since it is newer, probably not as much. For the original GoldenEye though, that one was hilarious. When you were within range and facing the general direction of the enemy, your guns would point at them. It even working through walls if they were walking down a hallway that was perpendicular to the one you were in...

Another thing, with the "holding their hand" through the game, after a while they begin to depend on it and without it they are lost. Borderlands is a perfect example of that. The quest markers would always point exactly to where the objective is, except the scavenger missions that just mark the general location. I can't count how many people went and posted about the marker being "broken" on these quests, and they couldn't complete them because the marker wasn't dead on with the pieces.

Good riddance. Do you know how many times I've been one-shotted by an M40+ACOG at point blank range today before I could get a second shot off with my MP5? Today alone, it's been somewhere between ten and fifteen. Oh, and let me preempt the "lrn2play": I average around 30-10 per game, regardless of play mode. Quick-scoping is bullshit, it breaks the balance of the game by giving a player the ability to score a one-hit-kill at any range without having to aim for the head.
This.A million times this.

Uhm, while Im not trying to defend the author, in real life, snipers dont go running around, they are in a tower 400 yards away in camo.

Why not just fix the shitty aim assist?
Also, now being able to scan an area using your normal vision is impossible, because I doubt you will ever see an enemy in view for more than a few seconds.

Does scoping while standing still have this bullshit?
