So, I wake up this morning, and see this. Anybody else think this awesome, or is there no way it could translate properly? I for one, think its a fantastic idea, and could totally open up Rock Band to a different crowd. Or at least provide some more fun songs to ruin while drunk.

I was under the impression this was Rock Band.
Apparently from now on it's, Profit Band...
If you think about it it has probably been Profit band from the beginning. In the original track list for Rock Band there are Emo, Glam, Metal, and Punk songs in it.

As far as Snoop Dogg being in Rock Band, I think that this game is starting to broaden what they think Rock. It won't matter though because people will still love it and buy it no matter what.

"Rock" Band or not, I just don't see how this is going to work in the constructs of the game. For one, last I checked, a lot of Snoop's albums have a little black and white advisory sticker on them, meaning we're going to be stuck with the piss-dry "radio friendly" versions of his songs. Also, most of his stuff (meaning his GOOD stuff, which seemed to fall off after he inexplicably stopped working with Dr. Dre) was a big mix of funkadelic beats and remixes. The idea of just mapping these sounds to the guitar and bass, while opens up the possibilities for newer song types, just plays off awkwardly in my opinion. Finally, last I checked, most of his more recent stuff has been collaborations, meaning more than 1 person singing, sometimes even going into duet-style moments. How they're going to pull this off in a way that makes sense is befuddling me.

I think this whole idea just reeks of promise making but not promise keeping. I'm sure we're going to get a retraction or some sort of "clarification" in the coming days.

So how would you play his tracks?

I assume you'd have to squint, grab your crotch and rock back on forth like a crack addict, no instruments involved. The game marks you on how much of a ferrrrrk you don't appear to give...

Hahah. So true.
Seriously, how are the drums (well, maybe they could) and guitars going to fit into Snoop's songs?

I don't see how rap would work in such a game at all. The absense of guitars in most of Snoop Dogg's tracks, as well as how utterly badly rapping's been in singing games so far. That leaves drums - rap's rarely got a decent beat to it.

Oh, and Snoop Dogg tracks go against both parts of the name. He doesn't rock, and he's not part of a band.

I predict a failure.
