I'm going to be seeing relatives in england (Isle of Man to be specific) for Christmas!

Which is awesome considering I've never had a white Christmas (damn Australian seasons)

It doesn't ever snow where I live, so yeah, I can't answer that. Well when it rains too hard there's nothing like some good hibernation.

There's about 2 inches of snow settled in the southeast of england where I am.

which means all buses are cancelled, so I'm fairly stuck myself.

What amuses me is how the whole of the UK seems to shut down over a couple of inches of snow when most other countries handle far more and just carry on.

Also the financial terror that the papers print in terms of '90 million lost a day due to stores being closed'. When the facts are, if you want a new couch and can't buy today....you'll still end up buying one later on in the week.

People will buy just as much as they usually do, just delayed for a few days :) They'll eat whats in the house, and then buy twice as much a week later to replace it.

In short, don't panic folks, it's only some snow, it'll go away in a few days. In fact, if there's any remnant of the child you once were, go and enjoy it!

It's pretty funky for me, although I live in Brighton, so there's barely anything. Although still enough to cancel College's trips, apparently. >_>

There isn't much snow where I am so I managed to get into school. The same cannot be said about my first teacher of the day. Though seeing as I walk to school I have almost no excuse anyway.

Now I'm stuck here as I cant be arsed to walk home in the cold, over very icy paths then come back for a lesson later on. I don't even know if my other teacher is in today. I'm hoping not.

Summary: there isn't much snow here, a lot of the roads are clear, on most of the pavements there is a lot of ice. It's also freezing.

EDIT: my teacher's in, not two minutes later after I post does he walk in. Damn, now I need to to homework.

It was snowing. In central Holland. During late November.

The world doesn't make sense to me anymore.

My girlfriend lives all the way over in South Yorkshire and she has been cuddling up with a blanket and talking to me when I'm awake. Aisde from that I think it's coursework, coursework, coursework until the Xbox 360 I sent her as a replacement arrives on Thrusday (hopefully) and she can game a little bit.

Though I usually make fun of you Brits for freaking out over snow (I'm Canadian, eh!) this is kinda serious. A lot of places are getting feet (WHOLE FEET!) of snow and that's bad when you don't have proper winter gear, as most Brits don't. Hope you guys can survive. Don't be pusses like Toronto and call in the army. ;)
As a South Yorkshire lad (Barnsley) I can tell you that the snow here is deep. Up in the area I'm at we've got (I'd estimate)3ft of snow around us. Getting the door open this morning was a nightmare and we're constantly getting snowed in.

So my day today is going to spent reading my book (The Colour of Magic)and maybe jumping around the internet. Drinking hot chocolate, eating warm hearty meals while sitting in front of the fireplace with the dog.

For everyone complaining that other countries just carry on, to be fair they get snow more regularly and in greater quantities. I lived in St. Peterburg (Санкт петербург) last year, and I got along fine, with utterly no disruption through roughly five months of this sort of weather, as did the transport systems

Certainly there's an element of hysteria, but it simply isn't economically worthwhile for our government or businesses to invest in proper snow-clearing equipment, and it gives reporters an excuse not to do their jobs properly for a few days.

Also: uni cancelled today, since lecturers can't get in. Score. One more day to do translations.

Not much snow here in Liverpool, everything is going on pretty much as usual, though our main problem seems to be ice everywhere making it a pain to walk/drive anywhere. We never get any real weather...North West ftw )

In Middlesbrough their is at least 5-6 inches of snow, this is the most we have had for about 10 years? I only know that because i wasn't even in my teens the last time i saw proper snow around here. It's like we live in a bubble, only this year it popped.

Because of it, all the roads are in turmoil around here, hell a bus ended up horizontal across one of the busiest roads around here.

Can't blame them though, we knew snow was coming, but we thought it would be the regular slush shower.

Last time we had heavy snow in the Wasteland was December 7, 2009. I spent the day doing an accounting final exam online (because campus was closed, the professor set the test that way)...and filling out the papers for my divorce. Seriously. Even at the end that damn ex-wife of mine was intellectually incapable of doing anything herself, so she made me do it for her. Reminded me of just why our marriage fell apart and reminded me to apply more stringent standards to any future mate!

Yeah, it is really bad here. I'm in Sheffield. I don't think we have quite 3 ft here, but atleast 30cm. Most likely more. Busses have stopped, a lot of things shut etc. It's crazy. Admittedly we have got quite a lot, but you would have thought they'd be more prepared for this now.
