So apparently Edge magazine gave The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings 06/10

I would just like to point out that there won't be any more MGS games. Movie Gear Solid 4 was the last one. (Unless you're talking about the HD remake, then meh)

Also...so they didn't like the game as much as you did. That doesn't make their opinion less valid. Especially when your opinion was formed after 20 minutes of gameplay. Even Superman 64 didn't seem that bad for the first 20 minutes.

I wish people would stop skiping the big ball of text that actually reviews the game and going straight to the pointless number that means next to nothing.

How Reviews work; They explane the Plus points and the negative points, you decide if the good out weigh the bad or if that game is what you look for.

How you See reviews; 8-10=Acceptable -7=WORST GAME EVER/OMFG X FANBOIS HATE Y

Never played it myself, but yes, guess what, people have different opinions. Shock horror, I know.

Well, that was clever.
Your missing the point dude. I'm annoyed that they're just trolling. A group of people who prefer a certain console, genre etc cannot possibly write a review about anything without being impartially mediated. Its like getting a nordicist to write a book on race.

You've played the game for twenty minutes and assume that that gives you enough ammunition to call out someone whose job it was to play through and review that game? Of course, they must be terrible fanboys.

By the way, if you read the review, you would know that they marked it down slightly (a 6 is still a good score, and Edge is know for using the whole ten-point scale and not 7-9) because it takes 8 hours to get past a slow beginning. If you played it at a friend's house, I assume that your friend got past that part and you played the "good" part. Don't just pay attention to the scores.

Hahaha oh wow I thought that was 0.6 out of 10 for a minute and I thought it was extreme. Seeing that become a 6 out of 10 became far less big a deal. Look buddy, there will always, always, always be someone who disagrees. 6 isn't even a terrible score, its's an average score at best, mediocre at worst and came from someone who clearly didn't think the game was that great. I've seen that opinion elsewhere too. Not. A. Big. Deal.

DERP.

Just... DERP.

That aside, The Escapist gave it a 7/10. You gonna be mad at them as well? The thing about The Witcher 2 is that its "flaws" are selling points. Thus, it has a majorly ranged score.

Think about it. The soul-crushing start? That's a selling point to challenge seekers who think gentle learning curves are for pansies. The "only drink potions before battle" mechanic? That's a selling point to realism and strategy fans. The complex menu system? A selling point to people who... like complex menus (I don't know what to call them but I'm one of them).

So 6/10 is a pretty good score from someone who hated all those things I mentioned, even though it appeals to me.

I can't help but laugh at you.

This thread has no point to it, so what if someone else has a differing opinion to you? Boohoo?

Besides these guys played through the WHOLE game and as such their opinions are more feasible then your 20 minute one.

For all you know the game could have become complete shit after you played, how do you know it doesn't? Wait...You DON'T

Seriously whats with fanboys now-a-days? Let it go (Although your less of a fanboy because you haven't even played the full damn game)

One thing I find strange about the game is people praised the sex scene too much.
I found it just meaningless sex much more so then any other game iv played.
Hell even sex in dragon ages i found it frequently more important to the story and game itself.
the witcher its just eye candy and i have the internet for that.

Why not. I havnt heard of a demo for the game so the only thing you can do is read the review. The point of this thread was not to say they gave the witcher a low score because honestly I dont even have a good enough pc to play it. My point in this thread was to simply say that they flame games for being unoriginal and no different and yet they give sequals wich are exact copies of the original game high scores. They're inconsistent and unreliable (things you cant be if you expect people to play £4.50 for an issue)

I guess you can only judge a game by actually playing it.

Doesn't Edge try to avert the 4-point scale? They might have changed their scoring philosophy, but back in the day, a 5 was an average game for them if I remember that right. I mean damn, they even gave GoldenEye a 9/10 (though I read that they later regretted that). If that's still the case, then they thought The Witcher 2 was slightly above average.

Mouse lag, sluggish controls, confusing interfaces and shoddy tutorials are common complaints against the game. These are not points in a game's favor to me. I imagine that some people like the challenge and planning needed to avert those issues, but if I want to think, I'll play a RTS. Or read.

Having played through the prologue and most of the first chapter, though I know that's nowhere near enough to give a full review, I'd currently give it a 7/10. The world is interesting, though the Polish guy who thought the series up and the TV show did most of the work for the dev, the story is decent so far, and I like the characters a lot. But it hasn't broken any molds. What I've played is mostly competent, except for that damn mouse lag, but I don't think it's revolutionary or even amazing.

And apparently neither did Edge.

I mean, if it helps, then don't read Edge or go to Destructoid. That's about the only advice I can give you.

I'm more curious to know exactly President Obama thinks about it, or if he'll even play it at all.

All right, here's your job. Go out and find some people who have no preferences on anything (favorable or unfavorable). That neutral guy from Futurama doesn't count, because you don't have a time machine or a space ship.

... Ok, so you respect an opinion that isn't the same as yours, and you tell people not to start "crying" about how everyone's opinion is different, yet your're basically moaning because someone didn't like it?

Yeah, because that's not hypocrisy.

How do you know they're biased? Evidence or shut up. Pics or GTFO. Backup your arguments or shut the hell up.

...And? Granted, I haven't played The Witcher 2 (or The Witcher 1 for that matter) but I don't really see how this is a big deal. People have wildly varying opinions on every game so I don't see why this one should be any different. Also, why complain about Edge giving it a mediocre score when Yahtzee completely detroyed the game?
