So apparently Edge magazine gave The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings 06/10

Problem? Look dude, if you "enjoy a contrasting opinion" or "aren't a fanboy", then you wouldn't start a thread on this forum about it, you would quietly think to yourself. I played the original Witcher because my friend wouldn't shut up about it, and was bored to death with it. And like with Oblivion, which I also didn't enjoy, the original wasn't good enough to provide enough incentive to give the sequel the time of day. Did you enjoy that contrasting opinion?

As much as I'm for pc elitism, Witcher 2 basically deserved a 4/10 at best, and not calling it the best game ever made hardly makes one a console fanboy.

And Laura Schlessinger [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laura_Schlessinger] had a black bodyguard, yet that didn't magically render her immune to being a massive racist.
Off topic but she's not a racist, just an insensitive idiot who thinks "Well if black people can get away with using the N word, why can't I?".

Real racists are a bit more insidious than that.
She told a female caller (black) who was nervous about talking to her husband (white) about the racially-insensitive remarks they make when they come over to their house. Schlessinger's response? The wife should grin and bear it because, "If you're that hypersensitive about color and don't have a sense of humor, don't marry out of your race."

You're right about the "everyone should be able to say ****** because black people can do it" thing. That was more born out of stupidity than actual malice. But from where I'm sitting, telling someone that being exposed to racist commentary is what you get for marrying someone outside your race is pretty damn racist. Ironically, it's racist against white people, too. Apparently, we're all racist when there are no black people around, and we don't give a shit about a black woman's personal feelings if they made the mistake of marrying a white man.

It's still stupid, of course. There's no doubt about that. But racist and stupid aren't mutually exclusive traits. More often than not, they go hand in hand.

Wow, 20 whole minutes and you know how amazing the game is? I'm impressed, can you see if a movie is good by watching the first 5 minutes of it?

My first impression of the first Witcher game was 'this is just beautiful' an hour or so in my feeling about the game itself began going down...

Seriously play the game for a decent stretch of time before you ***** that someone has a different opinion to you about it.

"You didn't like what I liked? Fuck you!"

Yeah, that's you buddy. I hate to be so blunt, but that's not a train of thought you should throw about in life.

Maybe he is a fanboy (although I doubt it though as he says he doesnt own the game yet), but he still has a point about Edge being sh*t....
Just jumping into this topic here, but just to satisfy my curiosity, care to elaborate on that point in bold? If you feel that strongly about it, I'm sure you have some fascinating & robust evidence to back up your claim.

Well, I admit I had a bit of a fanrage moment when some reviewers gave Child of Eden mediocre reviews http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/child-of-eden/critic-reviews. But then I looked at my own frustration and thought, why should this bug me? The positive reviews are outweighing the negative, and if a few people don't like it as much as others, then good for them. It's called personal taste.

I don't why the OP cares, let alone why I should. I'm sure the first hour or so is plenty fun. That doesn't make it a good game by any stretch. Like I keep saying (and saying, and saying, and saying!!), if you personally enjoy the game what difference does it make what other people, and freaking Edge Magazine even more so, think about it? Some of the best games in history received shitty, shitty scores the first time around, if they were lucky enough to be reviewed at all.

I'm not sure why this thread even exists, but still I feel compelled to point out the mindlessness of getting all butthurt just because one publication doesn't like your favourite game. Complaining about it and insulting them on the Escapist Forums isn't going to make some great thunderclap that changes history so the game becomes good.

Before anyone starts crying about people having different opinions, I just want to say that I respect a contrasting opinion. But this right here is just stupid. Having played this game for only 20 mins at a friends house halfway through the story I can honestly say its amazing. Every other magazine/reviewer has given this game amazing scores. Barack Obama recieved this game as a gift and yet this Edge gave it a 06/10. I now officially know that they are just a buch of Nintendo and X-box nerds.

Here is a prediction of their scores for upcoming games

The next Mario game - (10/10)
Halo 4-(9/10)
Gears 3-(9/10)
Uncharted 3-(09/10)
Resistance 3-(04/10)
Anything Nintendo-(x>8/10)
Next Metal Gear-(09/10)-Because it's not a PS3 exclusive anymore. If it was then (07/10)

Yeah, I went that extra mile on this one.

Before anyone bitches about me being biased I should say that I have all the next gen consoles so I dont actually need to be a fanboy.
I'm a little confused because I'm pretty sure The Witcher 2 is a 360 game, so by your logic they should have given it a high score.

grow up.

i cannot even agree with you OR the magazine because currently both witcher games have a problem with my computer.

I wonder what Bono thinks of Bioshock?

This.

I'm a huge fan of Witcher 2 after playing it, but I don't get pissy whenever I see a review by someone who didn't enjoy it as much as I did. After all, I can just relax in the knowledge that the New York Times [http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/22/arts/video-games/witcher-2-new-from-cd-projekt-red-in-poland-video-game-review.html] seems to like it as much as I do :)

I'd say something, but I might accidentally imply that someone's opinion could be flawed, unsound, based on an improper approach to the subject or in any other way not be completely unassailable for any sort of criticism. And that would be wrong, apparently.

Sidebar: I will put forward that contrary to the opinions of many of the above, there can actually be reasons to care about what others think about anything, and how they arrived at that conclusion. Especially if they're influential members of the media and their statements can affect the public opinion of the game, which can affect sales, which in turn can affect the future of the game series.

On a slightly more serious note: The subject of whether the magazine in question misrepresented/understood the game, would probably be better suited to an email exchange with the magazine in question.

If memory serves it's being ported to 360/PS3 but is currently only on PC.

Do you have any actual issues with the review? Claims that they make which counter your own experience? In other words, is there anything in the review - besides the score - that you can point to and say "No, this is wrong?" Or are you really, truly, just saying that you had fun for 20 minutes in the middle of the game, therefore Edge is biased?

And?

I'm going to call you on this: you are biased. Chill out. We all are. So, that site is biased towards xbox and nintendo, you say. Okay. And?

You're trolling, dude. And to a strong degree, so am I. That is that site's opinion. Big deal. Zero Punctuation is my favourite game review show but I don't always agree with what he says. He enjoyed H.A.W.X, well I didn't. He disliked Uncharted 2, I actually enjoyed it. I haven't played it in a while, but I did ply it all the way through.

This stuff is opinion. If you want unbiased head to Metacritic. All they do is take the average rating of a game from multiple sites. If that's not unbiased, I don't know what is.

It's PS3 only. Your theory is destroyed in your own post. Also, check your spelling, please, before you post.

My point in this thread was to simply say that they flame games for being unoriginal and no different and yet they give sequals wich are exact copies of the original game high scores. They're inconsistent and unreliable (things you cant be if you expect people to play £4.50 for an issue)
You do realize that witcher 2 is a sequel right? and why do you care so badly what other people think about a game especially because you don't even own it or played it for any real amount of time. So seriously don't waste people's time with threads like this. I think I'm going to make the thread "PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS OMG!!!!!111111"
