This dude has it right, let's put resources towards the important stuff.

Right about now, Bush is sitting in his E-Z chair with a cigar in his mouth, laughing to himself as he announces out loud to anyone who may be listening...

"I told you we were there for a reason!"
Where? If the US invaded Pakistan, I must've missed it.

My last two facebook updates:

Status 1:

Can't bring himself to feel happy that an old man who has been literally hiding underground for the last 10 years is dead, even if that old man is Osama Bin Laden. First and foremost, this is a revenge killing; justice would have involved a trial, and preferably, life in solitary. Second, we've just created the martyr to end all martyrs. Third, the terror threat level was raised today for a reason. This is a historic moment, but I can't call it a happy one.

Status 2:

Did he seriously just say that people who believe in peace and human dignity should be rejoicing? No cognitive dissonance there.

End of statuses

As you can see from the posts, I'm not particularly happy about this. Yeah, he's dead; so what? The only thing it's going to change is how angry Al Qaeda is with us, and they were mad enough already. We need to learn the difference between justice and revenge; getting your enemy's head on a pike is too close to Osama's style.
At last, somebody who can apply logic in this sea of testosterone.
This has done little good. And the US is going to continue with it's ridiculous security theatre, that's now permanently entrenched. Nobody's going to find it any easier geting their name removed from erroneous "no-fly" lists, security personnel at airports are still going to be ramming their fingers up a very uncomfortable location, America is still going to continue it's jingoistic adventures around the world... But hey, we shot this one guy, so it's all ok now! So, can we arrange to get Bush Jr shot too now? Along with all his former advisers? After all, they've caused far more death and suffering around the world than Al-Quaida could ever have dreamed of doing.

Source please.

Maybe.
It's all over every major news source.

This is a good sign, except one major thing.

It was done over Pakistan, which is what pretty much everyone knew he was there. Pakistan is a boiling pot right now, and taking this action over Pakistani lands without consent could be disastrous. Pakistan has been in turmoil for years, has nukes, almost prepared to start a war with India, and may not take lightly to this action taken.

It will be interesting to see what happens next between Pakistani relations and America.

Props to the CIA predators, and the military for finally getting Osama's head on a platter.
Pakistan ain't that deadly. Most of the public is actually pissed about high unemployment, rampant corruption, high illiteracy, shortage of food, water, electricity, and other medical necessities. Pakistan is simmering because of these things and people only take to the streets to vent some frustration. They know better, trust me. Fox News needs someone to demonize. Who better to be scared off than a 160 million turban-wearing, nuke happy fanatics?

OT: I will feel better about Osama's death when I'm not "randomly selected for additional screening" at the airport. Till then, sod off.

Wow really? Didn't think they would find him. Not like it matters in the slightest. They're fighting a war, not conducting a search mission for select individuals.

They had plenty of times to get him before, maybe this will help their effort, maybe it will just piss people off and create more hatred. Maybe its all propaganda and nonsense. I don't see the US getting out of the middle east any time soon.
I pretty much agree with this. On a personal standpoint, its great that he's dead and he won't be missed. But in the big picture, there is definitely still more speculation to be had before we can decide what we have actually accomplished.

But at least its one less mastermind to plan a horrible attack on humanity. So yeah, its still significant.

I hope it was slow and painful. I also hope the bullet was greased up with pork fat. If it wasn't we should claim it was.

Personally I want to see the body, just to see if it really is him. As far as what the next few days hold: increased security in all the major population centers and transportation hubs. This is to hopefully stave off any potential retaliation attempts. As for the next few months and years? Hard to say, this victory was symbolic more than anything else. US involvement in the Middle East will continue as we try to pull out little by little. Whatever war on terror we're fighting is far from over.

Perhaps now social bridges can start being rebuilt. I don't know.

I imagine there will be a little more sense of closure for some who experienced loss.

So JSOC (the Joint Special Operations Command, the military group responsible for killing Bin Laden) will likely get a little more exposure.

I do not seeing the world changing much as a result of this. There will be some changes no doubt. Hard to imagine what will though.

9 years, 8 months, 20 days.

It makes me wonder how all these people would have responded when Hitler died. A man responsible for not only attacks on America but also the rest of the world is dead. May we please have some time to be happy? Especially those of us who knew people who died in the towers? I also can't wait for the flood of "Eh, I'm European or Canadian or Australian or whatever, stupid Americans hurr hurr I'm so cool."

Well, there are only so many ways a conversation can backfire, and that there was one of the worst.

Okay, so I'm not the biggest on watching the news and getting my facts straight, but the man was responsible for the murder of thousands, we can at least acknowledge that the world is better off and appreciate that fact.

My brother says we bring him back as a zombie. And kill him again.

I say, "PAAAARTY! ICE CREAM PAAAAARTY! PAAAAARTY! ICE CREAM PAAAAARTY!" (Bonus points if anyone can tell me where that's from).

Honestly, probably lots of celebrating, vengeful spirits resting, more celebrating, the terrorists attempt to prove that the lost isn't a crushing moral blow, more celebrating, and then things go on.

Could anyone link me a source?

I don't live in the US (UK person here) and my TV isn't plugged in anyway.
http://www.npr.org/

There you go, sir/madam. It's the only news station that I trust these days because it's the least biased of all of the U.S. news stations. It's what I listen to on my home town's local NPR supported station (it also has BBC world news on it, so I think that with those 2 news groups I'll be getting the total unbiased news.)

Have you learned nothing from playing Doom???

On topic : Damn, Obama is probably going to get alot of undeserved credit for this >.<
Actually, he aut horized the attack on Osama
That sort of implies that Bush never authorized any attacks on Osama.
Exactly, pretty sure if anyone authorized anything it was Bush, but thats another debate. As someone in this thread already stated simple minded people will relate this to Obamas presidency, which was proven by the One Hit Noob.

Yay hes dead!

Boo Obama wins next election by default.
Eh, he was going to probably win anyway, all the Republican candidates suck.

It was in his speech. Obama stated that he authorized the attack once enough intel was given. And it isn't very nice to call me simple minded. Just sayin'
I imagine when you find the worlds most wanted man that you really don't have much choice in what to do, especially being the President, so authorizing an attack is kind of an necessity especially if people know you have a chance to get this guy, no big surprise there. Point being is people will credit Obama for this win (or loss, however you view it) when I honestly doubt he deserves anything close. Last I remember is Obama was more or less giving up on this search.
<youtube=NqoCmydwNU0> Further proof. Sorry for calling you simple minded though...;)

I am curious as to what Pakistan's reaction and statement will be on these recent events. President Obama carefully worded how they were informed about the operation. While Bin Laden was an enemy of both Pakistan and the US, I personally would have been a little miffed about an foreign military operation occuring in my backyard without being given some heads-up. Granted, it will probably be officially stated as protecting the integrity of the intelligence and operation. I don't know.

Best the US be careful with how it handles the international reaction, especially in the Middle East.

I am not going to claim Terrorism is over or that we have entered some new really awesome golden age, but at the same time, he is dead. The man who has been America's #1 Public enemy is dead and I think that deserves to be celebrated. Yes, I agree, normally murder is bad but when you organize the death of thousands then FUCK YOU! You die, if you turn yourself in then you get a trial before you die, but end result is: YOU = DEAD, and that is a good thing overall. As for the celebration, well we have been hunting this guy since I was 10 so... Yeah, mission accomplished, pop the bubbly and what not. THis is good things.
