mt mom says it,s mostly about revenge for 9/11 and that they would most likely pick a new leader.
in other words not much would change (Except that moral for the terrorist organization (don,t knows how to spell their name) would either drop due to the loss of their leader or rise for more revenge)

Heard about this just over four hours ago, and from then it spread through school like wildfire. I didn't actually believe it at first; the US has been hunting Bin Laden for almost two thirds of my life. :p

Anyway, this is damned exciting. A hearty well done to all the people involved in taking this fucker down.

WHY DO I HEAR MY NEWS FROM GAMING SITES BEFORE ACTUAL NEWS SITES?

I'm glad I found out so I know what people are talking about tomorrow.
Heh, yeah, that happened to me too. Pretty scary...
Pretty cool, but it won't make a difference. At least the US can feel happy about themselves for a week or two, they need it. I never really considered Osama to be the problem.
But seriously, 10 years? Either noone really cared about finding him and just used him as a scapegoat or he's the world's greatest hide and seeker.

apparently they have a body and have dna confirmation that its him. they also killed one of his sons and a woman that was taken hostage was killed in the firefight. 2 other women were injured and one of the choppers had to be abandoned due to mechanical issues. all i know so far
Source or gtfo...
That was a little uncalled for. He's probably listening to the same news network that I am (BBC world news on my local NPR station [yep, you heard that right]).

Now, for my on-topic oppinion: Even though it's possible he'll be seen as a martyr to many extremists, I think that his death will bring some closure to the families of the victims of his attacks worldwide.

What happens now? Nothing. America will keep fighting its "War." It'll keep spending trillions it doesn't have, and then finally shit itself and implode.

I almost hesitate to believe that it was actually the U.S. that killed him, what with the U.S. taking credit for the capture of Saddam Hussein. Well done guys, you finally achieved your goal.

But you're still involved in two wars and your young men are still dying because of the way you've reacted to what this man has done. Unfortunately that sounds to me like he's won, dead or not.

Reading the BBC report, I love the contrast of reactions between someone who actually survived 9/11:

"I just can't find it in me to be glad one more person is dead, even if it is Osama bin Laden."

and someone who wasn't involved in any way:

"We found him. He killed 3.000 people. It's justice," said 19-year-old student Jon Garcia, explaining he had come to the White House "to be a part of it. It's very historic".

considering Osama has had bullshit nothing to do but sit in a cave and not be dead yet I don't think this changes. Revenge is sweet and all that, but does anyone honestly this guy was still an important terrorist leader actively managing everything behind the scenes?

the internet explodes for 4 minutes, and then everyone goes back to their lives. I mean.. after 10 years who the fuck cares?
The family and friends of every victim of the 9/11 attacks, and of all soldiers killed in Iraq.
What does Iraq have to do with Bin Laden? I hope you meant Afghanistan... Please tell me that was a typo... There have been MANY MANY soldiers killed in Afghanistan...

Also, I CARE, Plurralbles.
Well, there are only so many ways a conversation can backfire, and that there was one of the worst.

Okay, so I'm not the biggest on watching the news and getting my facts straight, but the man was responsible for the murder of thousands, we can at least acknowledge that the world is better off and appreciate that fact.
I agree entirely. While I'm not an eye for an eye type of bloke myself, I think that some people cross a line with violation of human life and there is a point where I can't take any legitimate issue with them getting killed.

I hope Bin Laden rots in Hell! Oh, wait. I'm Atheist.
I hope Bin Laden... Uh... Rots!

I can't help but feel the need to quote Rich Hall.

"He's the face the media have decided to put on terror, but it doesn't mean he's actually running the operation. It's kind of like Kentucky Fried Chicken. Just because the Colonel's picture's on the bucket, doesn't mean he's actually making the chicken."

I'm not sad about his death, don't get me wrong, he had it coming to him. But though this feels good now, I can't help but think we've poked the metaphorical bear with a stick, and soon it's going to wake up properly and do something nasty.

But that's probably just me.

Blood for blood for blood for blood ...ad infinitum. You've just advocated the vicious circle of violence and revenge. Check your morals...if you've got any.

I'm hoping the details of the attack come out soon. I'm curious if Osama was killed in the gunfight or if he killed himself to avoid capture. It's a shame we couldn't take the bastard alive...

I don't get why anyone thinks this is the tipping point. It isn't as far as i'm concerned. This won't change anything. al-Qaeda will not cease to exist and revenge will come.

I sure as hell won't be crying for him. I'm not naive enough to believe this'll instantly reset the world to pre-9/11, but I'm glad he's dead.

Sure the Government have not erace him of their most wanted list but what about the other wanted people below him?
Also while some people will probably rest easy for now but I think it would be short lived. There are still many other threats when he was still around.
