Don't you have to buy a game on Steam to leave a user review on that game? Would people really hate-buy her stuff just to review bomb it? I know she pissed off some truly pathetic people, but that would be quite the show of dedication.

I suppose people could be buying it, playing it less than the refund threshold, bombing it, then getting a refund. Does the review stay if you do that?

Given that there's only 35 reviews I'm inclined to believe that they're more or less genuine. Or as "genuine" as the textual diarrhea that is your average user review can be anyway.
I read through quite a few of them. There are some blatant review bombs there, but most of it seems like genuine criticism of what seems to be a rather shit game.

Huh...weird. From the comments alone, I was expecting a much worse looking game. Not something I'd be into, as it's a heretic phone game, but still looks like some effort was put into it. Nothing at all like the comments suggest. I cannot imagine why.

Effort does not necessarily pay off. John Romero was trying when he made Daikatana. Plus, being a mobile game does not mean you have to look like shit. Dead Trigger does not look like shit. Monument Valley does not look like shit. Crossy Road does not look like shit. If you really can't get enough polygons, sod it and use sprites instead.

She's spent the last few months reworking the game to make it more appropriate for a PC platform, and addresses complaints about the characters being too sexy by altering their proportions and outfits
I doubt anybody's complained that these characters are too sexy, they're hideous.
It's not that they're sexy per se. It's that they're the typical big-chested slim-waisted tight clothes-wearing women that are so frequently criticized created by someone who is ostensibly supposed to be improving the perception and position of women in the industry. To see this trope dragged out by her efforts in particular is odd.

Just looking at it on it's own merrits, Those character designs... they look like Bratz dolls or Winx Club. I could imagine either they didn't have the budget for good CGI or that was intentional grab at the youth market?

I honestly would've of bought it to make a lets play about it, but ten dollars for a game I imagine I won't enjoy seems kinda steep.

It's technically a port from iOS, so IMO the character design is pretty standard (at least it runs at 60fps).

Well, the port was funded by a Kickstarter which raised $12k. It depends how you define low budget I suppose.

That's just for the port mind you. The game was finished already for mobile devices.

But...who cares? It's a shitty point-and-click adventure game, and there's only one developer that even makes good point-and-click games. (I'd give their name, but I don't want to be a telltale.)
Oh, come on. Wadjet Eye Games deserve a mention.
Thank you. Hell, Wadjet Eye games spark my interest a lot more then Telltale has in years. Even Gemini Rue, which was really rough, was still good. Telltale, OTOH, seems to have forgotten why people liked them.

I'm seeing it on IoS for half the amount they're charging on steam. That's pretty ballsy.

No that's because the game is absolute trash. Stop pretending that it's not and bolting on fake controversy.

If by "ballsy" you mean "a fucking insult to consumers", I agree.

Nah I'll pull back a tad. I don't know if the game sucks or not, but it's clearly not just being judged on it's own merits.

Bloody fookin' hell mate. It looks even more arse than old 1990s CGI (ReBoot does actually manage to look better than this game).

Oh boy, somebody dug up the decaying body of an ancient controversity and began flinging it around.

To be honest, I used to support GG back in its early days. I mostly wanted major sites to edit their CoC, but that's it, all of the drama flew under the radar for me.

Politics aside, the game looks fairly poorly put together, even for an indie title.

Oh good God, that gif is disgusting.

What is he even trying to do? Is the cow a criminal? Does he just hate cows? Did it get hit by a car and now he's trying to euthanise it? Why wouldn't he use his gun? Why wouldn't he use a gun?

Augh!

In case you haven't seen the movie.

He did use the gun. He doesn't have any more bullets at this point.

Aye.

Or at least I hope so, because otherwise I've made a right tit of myself.

Can some of us get some backstory because i have no idea who this person is or why this game is note worthy?

edit: quick google turns up she is related to gamergate somehow? bleh maybe i dont want to know.
The usual GG BS, she was not really known as a game dev until she criticized GG, and they decided to 'make an example of her' with the usual harassment and threats.

EDIT:

As an addendum, the Daily Mail (yes, THAT Daily Mail) covered her leaving her home due to death threats, which led to GG calling the paper an 'SJW mouthpiece', which tells you how little value SJW has as a term.

Donald Trump recieves death threats constantly, that doesn't put him above criticism. To use a more relevant example Totalbiscuit receives horrible threats and unlike Wu he tries to avoid conflict. But you don't see people trying to deflect criticism against them with that do you.

Now if you where an honest person you would have listed what Brianna was first known for.

She first drew attention by having an alt where she would pretend to be a male gamer saying things like "I get off on watching Lara Croft die" and insulting GG, defending a friend of hers who was a well known man-hater who explicitly said she genuinely hated men, not the ironic cute kind, but you would try and have us believe that people just randomly targeted this nobody dev.

This game was actually posted on steam before, she got caught starting false flag threads in her own games forum to try and drive up sympathy.

The mods on steam had to warn her because she started insulting gamers when it wasn't selling.

Bunch of other crap, point is, don't be dishonest about these things, it also the reason people consider professional victim a thing when you point out all the bad things that happened to them and leave out what they are actually like as a person.

I thought she first drew attention by using a picture of an autistic child in the middle of a fit (Not tantrum, a fit from sensory overload basically) for an advice macro in an attempt to call GGers crybabies.
