Awesome.

I got Shadow of the Colossus for christmas.

My ENTIRE family watched me play through the first 5 or 6 colossi without telling me to stop using the tv. It struck them heavily. From that day on they never criticized my video game playing.

Yep...that thing with Dom right? I didn't cry , but yeah I can see why she did. Doing that...you know...if I kinda cared a little bit more her as a character maybe a tear. But as is, nothing fo rme.

I think, if anything, that just solidifies the legitimacy of gaming as a medium for emotional and involving stories. I know I've definitely had my fair share of moments where my vision got blurry during Red Dead: Redemption; in fact, that game got far more emotional mileage out of me than any movie I've ever seen.

i Recommended the game to my Sister and she called me right after she made it to this scene..whats cool is that Gears of War is seen as a masculine game but still manages to have a strong effect on a whole of society. I like how games play with emotions for me it creates a lasting affect

That scene made her cry? You need to get yourself a less sensitive girlfriend. If my (theoretical) girlfriend cried over something like that I'd dump her for being a wuss.

That scene ALMOST made me tear up a bit.

I really like Gears, people really should give it more of a chance.

lol this was honestly the only time ive ever seen her emotional like that, its not as if its because the scene relates to her personal life in anyway. Ive met her whole family and none of them have been kiddnapped by locusts as of yet :p

You see, my entire family was kidnapped and tortured by subterranean monsters less than a week before I first saw that scene, and it still didn't have an emotional impact on me.

Good god, she cried in Gears of War?

I wouldn't want her to see the sad scenes of Metal Gear Solid or Final Fantasy X.

Jesus Christ, man she might go insane with sadness after seeing that.

No offense to her in anyway but I'm glad something got her into games I guess.

Games need to be more emotional, so they can be seen as more than mindless shoot 'em ups.

Are you talking about the scene with Dom and his wife? If you are, then me and my best friend had the complete opposite reaction.

In fact, if I recall correctly, we had to stop playing the game for a few minutes afterwards because we were laughing so hard at it. Neither of us could take the scene seriously, and when we saw her for the first time to see that she was fine, we looked at each other and we said "Wait for it..." and then when the sudden twist came on her condition, we both saw it as the punchline. Maybe we're just cold, but that game stirred up virtually no emotions for us. We laughed through most of the story, and were always asking what the hell we were doing.

Don't get me wrong, it's fun, and I like the game, but it hardly holds up in the story end of it all.
