Probability of this being accurate? Unlikely.
Probability of survival if it IS true? Unlikely...
If nothing happens in 6 months we have nothing to worry about. If something does happen, it's too late to do anything so carry on anyway.

Well, I may begin to believe this if it came from a news source which I'd actually heard of before.

251 million years ago a mammoth undersea methane bubble caused massive explosions, poisoned the atmosphere and destroyed more than 96 percent of all life on Earth. [1] Experts agree that what is known as the Permian extinction event was the greatest mass extinction event in the history of the world. [2]
Wait, is this referring to the Dinosaur extinction event? Because if so, that's at best a theory, and they shouldn't be acting as though it is fact!

To qoute the infamous Ms Bitter
"so as you see class the universe is infinetly expanding, so much so that eventually it will implode and we'll be doomed...doomed...doomed...doomed...doomed...ECT"

OT: this is another alarmist story that will more than likely fizzle out when the next story comes along.

"How the oil leak may lead to a death-event"...

That is as far as I cared to read before making a statement; BEE YOU ELL ELL ESS HEICH EYE TEE!

Enough of your world-killing events. They fail in theory, all of them. There's been no exception as of now, and this one WILL be no different.
Just give it up and get your asses on more reasonable studies, such as how we can achieve immortality or how to bend light...

Just so sick of it is all.

huh, so the Earth farting will kill us all...

I'm willing to bet a bottle of beer this is Obama kicking "ass" by getting someone to spread evil and vile rumors that lower BP's reputation. Except they are already considered scum of the earth anyway.

this is actually the most reasonable sounding doomsday theory I've heard. but it's almost definitely wrong.

Sorry, been wanting to use that for ages...

I'm not really worried. I will be when everything starts to look more grim.
Admittedly I only skimmed the article but, while everything looks the same outside, I'll just relax.

I swear if I die before I get to play Mass Effect 3 and HL2:E3, I'm going to haunt every surviving BP executive until the day they die.

Wow... so many cock sure folks here saying it's all bull! So arrogant, and no fun at all.

What, did you all lose money somehow during a Y2K scam? The boy who cried wolf is at it again?

I dunno, I kinda like doomsday stuff. It's exciting, the thought that we aren't in control of anything, that we as a race are wrapped in an illusion of safety. But one can't fret, or become stressed, over such things- if it is out of our control, then so be it.

sigh* Another Doomsday theory. You know I'm not much of a bible guy but doesn't it say somewhere in their that none of us will predict when it all ends for us? Believe me for the love of whatever you worship or don't I'm not trying to start a religious war but that gives me comfort that this is all bull. I wonder when I can go an entire year again without having some doomsday theory looming over my head. Probably never again. I remember seeing a special about how the world has been predicted to end throughout history. Its amazing how we as a species like to seemingly eagerly predict our own extinction.
