Now if you don't mind, I'm off to live on Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll for the next six months.

Well, now that we needed someone to clarify that the article was selling a fat load of BS, back to reality. Or welcome back, rather, to those of you who didn't figure that out in the first place.

How many times are we going to die next 5 years?
oh about 10 times, if your lucky. hope you saved up your lives so you can respawn after each cataclysm.
I plan on re-rolling as Worgen after the Cataclysm.
I'll see you then, Worgen. I'm respawning as a spy, better watch your back :D

Bullshit. I doubt that rig was tapped into a big enough source of oil to cause a giant methane bubble ball of doom. And if it actually is happening, first I'd be surprised, shocked, probably soil myself knowing that my brief exsistance is about to be ended, then scream "Mexico doomed us all!".

End of the world...again? I mean, I love disaster movies, but this is all too ridiculous to believe. If the world is gonna end..it will end...if not...it won't. Nothing too profound to say on this. Anyone of us could drop dead in a second anyhow...why sweat it. Just gonna continue living.

We've all heard the story several thousand times. Y2K, 2012, and now this.

What if, though? What if this really kills all life on the planet? Are we, as humans going to sit back and let it happen?

Well, yes. That's exactly what we'll do. We are all lazy, you know.
Y2K technically did happen although it wasn't remotely as big as people thought it was gonna be. 2012 is just people being stupid (THE MAYAN CALENDAR IS CYCLICAL YOU BASTARDS!), This is a hypothesis based off of past events. While it's slightly more valid than Y2K and much more valid than 2012 there's still no hard evidence that shit will go wrong yet. Still, get to fucking and drinking just in case.
YES SIR.

This may have prematurely released a bubble.
Oh no, it was released two years too early! Bullshit, just like the rest of them.
And on top of that, releasing it prematurely would cause less pressure to build up, and therefore a smaller explosion if any. Personally, I'd say it's just another theory, and should probably be viewed objectively.
Also, the inclusion of the US government covering it up makes the article lose credibility, in my opinion.

So long and thanks for all the fish
So sad that it should come to this
We tried to warn you all but oh dear?

You may not share our intellect
Which might explain your disrespect
For all the natural wonders that
grow around you

So long, so long and thanks
for all the fish

The world's about to be destroyed
There's no point getting all annoyed
Lie back and let the planet dissolve

Despite those nets of tuna fleets
We thought that most of you were sweet
Especially tiny tots and your
pregnant women

So long, so long, so long, so long, so long
So long, so long, so long, so long, so long

So long, so long and thanks
for all the fish

Hay this is methane we're talking about, not Vogons. Totally different kettles of fish (no pun intended).
Interesting sentiment actually. Have the dophins left then?

251 million years ago a mammoth undersea methane bubble caused massive explosions, poisoned the atmosphere and destroyed more than 96 percent of all life on Earth. [1] Experts agree that what is known as the Permian extinction event was the greatest mass extinction event in the history of the world. [2]
Wait, is this referring to the Dinosaur extinction event? Because if so, that's at best a theory, and they shouldn't be acting as though it is fact!
No, that was 65 million years ago.

But yes, of course it's a theory. The whole thing is a conflagration of unlikely theories and guesses that only works if every single one of them turns out to be true.

So this gas bubble is going to kill everyone again? And how small was 96% of the population then, compared to the billions of people in the population now? I think if anything does happen, we'll be fine.
No, all life, not including humans, and humans weren't around 251 million years ago Humanity has only existed 200,000 years.

I don't believe the theory, but I'm just gonna correct you there. It's not 96% of the human population that it killed, it was 96% of all life on the planet, which includes plants and tiny little insects, all that noise.
Yep, that's what the article said, but what it said was wrong. 96% was the number of marine species that it made extinct. Which doesn't really tell you anything, because those could all have been small populations of exotic species in a small yet genetically diverse lake while the remaining 4% could account for all the other marine life on the planet.

Woah woah...since when is methane a "poisonous" gas.
The presence of any gas in the atmosphere would be toxic if it was in such concentration that it displaced most of the oxygen. But the extant theories only really talk about concentrations dissolved in water.
