Because, to put it quite bluntly, if I could afford it and be bothered travel all that way to a different country... I'd probably just go to ComicCon instead.

Meeting Gav and shit sounds good but meh.

Plus, I'm afraid of getting beaten up if I mention I'm Smash... :p

Because I can't afford to make to trip to North Carolina right now. Plus I'm not really big on large crowds anyway.

I'm also in the "it's not in my country" boat, though Canada is a lot closer than all you UK folks. Still far too much expense to make it to an expo that I would only be somewhat interested in.

The timing just kills me, as does being sadly FAAAAR from me. Which sucks, cause if it were in LA, I'd FIND the time...

Short answer: Because it's in America.

Long answer: I don't mind getting on a plane at my local airport and travelling the 3712 miles or so between the two cities, however I really can't be arsed to travel all the way down to London beforehand, just to attend an interview at the American Embassy in order to seek permission to enter the country.

I really dislike London and the diplomatic hoops I have to jump through in order to be granted permission to enter America are just too much of a ballache.

On the bright side, the Escapist Expo now shares the illustrious company of the 2012 Olympic Games, The Diamond Jubilee and the Royal Wedding on my list of "Events I won't attend because I hate London".

It's a choice between flying across country for Expo and driving a few hundred miles to Comicon...and I just got free Comicon passes :)

Because secretly, I think that if I were to see the IRLs of a few people on this site I would give them a proper beating. Nah just kidding, it's only one person. You can take a guess >:)

Nah but seriously, money, age (I'm 14) and being a Briton are stopping me.

Because I don't want to?

Not a convention-goer, and have no reason to really network with the gamer community right now.

I'd like to go, as my first ever expo, but unfortunately I live in the UK, and can't afford to travel to the USA just for an expo, and I don't have those dates booked off work anyway. Simply put, I can't go because it's not very feasible for me to do so.

One might cross an ocean for democracy, but not a street to vote. But I also won't cross an ocean for an Expo.

Contrary to what some Americans think the rest of the world exists. And if you want to get to America from that imagined land you have to fly which costs and book a hotel and transport to the hotel and expo, which costs.

I'm in a manager training program at work, and by the time the Expo comes around I may be someone else. I live in South Carolina (about 5 miles from the NC border) so if I can find some kind of guarantee that I won't be across the country I'll try my damnedest to attend.

So many people to meet. Too much awesome that I hope I don't miss out on.

Well, the Expo is probably really nice and all, but I don't really feel like crossing the Atlantic just for that.

Eh. Doesn't really to offer anything to warrant such a trip. Seems like a bunch of people meeting up to talk about and see exactly what they already do on the site. *shrug*
