The PS3 is wasted power, it technically is a better console than the xbox and has a lot of potential, but it's like if you're the world's strongest man but you're in a world with very, very few heavy things. It's not the PS3 I dislike per se, just what they're doing with it, they're wasting all that power with a lackluster range of titles (God of war, Uncharted 2 and Heavy rain excepted). Also, it's not about power, its about the quality and enjoyability of the games: Left 4 dead is a classic, a brilliant game, yet is pretty low tech and wouldn't work on the PSN because of the god awful network.CTU_Loscombe said:Sorry to butt in but how the hell do you come to the conclusion that the PS3 isn't good for games? Personally, I'd love to see the 360 run a game like God of War 3 without grinding to a halt...Or MAG for that matter (I know the graphics on it aren't that good but its the gameplay that counts and for sheer size it shits on any 360 game)
Okay, I'll admit, I know nothing of PSN+ because I never bother with my PS3 any more. What do you get for free, I can't be that good can it? Don't even get me started on the PSN store, the three years I used my PS3 for was marked by a total lack of any decent games on it (aside from old PS1 games) and cannot possibly compete with some of the games on XBLA.CTU_Loscombe said:The PSN store has better quality games than XBLA as well and the PSN+ actually gives you FREE stuff...yes, FREE!!! MS only give you free stuff when Live goes tits up.
I've personally had far more fun on my Xbox than my PS3, which spent most of its time, even before the xbox, turned off and waiting for a good game to be released. I don't have the problem of constant invites because I rejected most friend invites and basically only have my real friends as xbox friends, which is always a good idea in my opinion.CTU_Loscombe said:I've personally had more fun with my PS3 than I ever had with my 2 xboxs (1 of which set on fire FFS)...I personally couldn't give a shit about party chat either as the xbox one just pissed me off with invites every 10seconds...Also, the XMB looks infinately better than the NXE
Speaking as someone who has owned both consoles and has been gaming for 18yrs of my 23yr life I think Im fairly qualified to make such statements.
If Wipeout HD, LittleBigPlanet (Europe for 1 year subscription), Zen Pinball, aren't among the best then I don't know what is. Free for PSN+ subscribers.Furious Styles said:Okay, I'll admit, I know nothing of PSN+ because I never bother with my PS3 any more. What do you get for free, I can't be that good can it? Beat Braid with something you can download on the PSN.
<-- Best Buy employee. I agree. I have not bought an HDMI cable from anywhere except Amazon. I have a hard time coughing up $50-60 on a $5-10 cable.elcamino41383 said:Places like Best Buy and Radio Shack rip you off BIG time on HDMI.

Just remember that you don't own those games. You are renting them for as long as you keep paying.Furious Styles said:Okay, colour me impressed. But i stand by the rest of my argument
If you like that mediocre sequel to TLV, you gotta play the original Lost Vikings on SNES/Genesis!Helmet said:<-- Best Buy employee. I agree. On the PSN, I'll recommend Trine. It reminds me of a PS1 game that I played all the time- Norse By Norsewest: The Lost Vikings.
Personally, i wouldn't put a single one ahead of Braid, although I do love locoroco and ratchet and clank. The last guy is also pretty inventive, but just not quite as good.CTU_Loscombe said:Braid is on PSN but personally its not my cup of tea
As far as Braid beating titles (not necessarliy in gameplay terms but overall presentation), here we go:
Warhawk
WipeOutHD Fury (free on PS+)
Trine (best to look on YouTube as its odd to describe)
StardustHD (geometry wars on crack...and prettier)
NobyNobyBoy (again, YouTube, its creepy)
LocoRoco
PixelJunk series
Pain (which is awesome if you love ragdoll physics...catapult and ragdoll...and The Hoff)
Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty
The Last Guy (Googlemap based zombie game)
Thexder Neo (one for the older gamers)
Fat Princess
Cuboid
Crash Commando (sidescrolling deathmatches)
Trash Panic (another odd one)
Soldner-X: Himmellssturmer ( bullet hell sh'mup)
Joe Danger
and Revenge of the Wounded Dragons (kinda a bit like that Jackie Chan game that came out on PS1....kinda...ish)
That's WAY too much. People think there's a difference between the quality of signals between Monster cable and normal cables, HDMI is digital it's very hard to get a crappy signal from it. Just make sure the cable is rated to what you want 720p+ and you're golden. I got my cable for like 12 and I hear it could have been less.Alpha1089 said:God damn it people, don't respond to fanboy comments with more fanboyism. Really? EB charge something like $30-40 for them over here in Australia, the land of heavily inflated prices.Snotnarok said:For god sakes do not buy a HDMI cable at a store they charge at least 10 times the price they're worth. I think it was amazon where I found my 1080p rated HDMI cables for 12 dollars instead of 100.
YAY ps3!!Onyx Oblivion said:NOW I HAVE THE 3 CURRENT CONSOLES! BWA HA HA!
1.
Does it have any sort of "private chat/party chat" system? So that I can talk to people while playing different games than them. Or even when playing single player games.
2.
What's good on PSN Store? So, I am asking for SOME recommendations. But not full retail games. And not the PS1 classics section, either. I mean stuff like Joe Danger, Flower, Everyday Shooter, etc.
3.
WHY THE FUCK WON'T IT ACCEPT MY CREDIT CARD INFO? Should I not put a space in my name, or what?
4.
Will you be my friend? PSN account is in my Escapist profile.

You know what you're talking about. Or appear to. Which of these should I get?Snotnarok said:That's WAY too much. New release PS3 and 360 games cost $110 here. Steam displays prices in US dollars and currently has Battlefield: Bad Company 2 available for $69.99 US. Everything is more expensive here.Snotnarok said:That's WAY too much. Same here.Furious Styles said:Don't. I own both and the xbox is better, the ps3 is basically just my dvd player now.SomeBritishDude said:I can't give any advice but I will be keeping a close eye on this. I've been thinking about selling my Xbox in exchange for a PS3 for yonks now.
Every single update or download takes ages on the PS3.Onyx Oblivion said:Little Big Planet updates...taking...forever...
Well, it is a high profile games, so there is probably a lot to update.
