I had to have some teeth removed for braces, but as I have a SEVERE phobia of needles (although only in the mouth for some reason), so I had to be knocked out. T'wasn't fun.

BTW on a different note, theres only four wisdom teeth right? 'Cause I already have four and it feels like a fith and a sixth are coming through, am I just a freak?

Tomorrow morning I got to wake up bright and early to get my four impacted wisdom teeth removed at 8 a.m....Any tips you'd like to share?

How about your own personal story about how it was when you got yours removed?
Nothing to be worred about.

Try to avoid hot liquids for some days if you can, but it will be fine, don't worry about it.

No tips, really. Just keep on the painkillers afterward. Oh, and don't play and story-heavy games until you're recovered from the anesthesia. I went through the big plot twist in Final Fantasy VII right after I got mine taken out, and then came back to realize I had no idea what was going on.

I remember when I got my wisdom teeth out I came out of the anesthesia early and stumbled into the lobby asking if I could go home. The nurses took me back to the recovery room for a while and then I went home. They had me hyped up on so much medication that I don't really remember the next few days.

I had my wisdom teeth out quite a while ago. They knocked me clean out because it had to be a surgical procedure. The wisdom teeth were trying to grow in underneath the teeth in front of them and were hung up in the roots of the other teeth. They could not be pulled. Instead, they cut into my jaw, shattered the wisdom teeth, and pulled them out in pieces. I'm very glad I was unconscious.

I will advise you of a couple of things, from hard experience, because I developed dry socket and I can tell you, it is just agony.

1. DO NOT DRINK ANYTHING USING A STRAW! This would mean no milkshakes, unless you ate them with a spoon. The suction inside your mouth, as small as it is, is enough to rupture the delicate tissue that holds in the blood that is all that stands between your raw exposed bone and the rest of the word. This is how I got my dry socket.

2. Do not give in to the craving to eat solid food, which you will get, just because you "feel better." This is another way to not only break the covering of the hole, but to stuff a bunch of food down into it as well.

3. Salt water rinses. The more you do them, the better you will feel and the faster you will heal. It will also help with the fact that the inside of your mouth will taste unbelievably bad.

4. The dentist is going to tell you to keep the wound packed with cause, and packing the wound is important. But don't use gauze, use tea bags. I recommend flavored decaf tea, and it must be black tea. The tannins in the tea will firm up the tissues and prevent infection so they heal better. Everyone who has tried it has been surprised at just how well it works. It will also help with the fact that your mouth tastes like Wound.

Most importantly, eat a good breakfast before going to the Dentist's as you will lose quite a bit of blood, Brush your teeth too obviously.

Your Dentist should be clear on all the dos and don'ts after the treatment:
Don't fidget the affected area too much,
don't eat anything for a while,
don't exert yourself, smoke or drink for the rest of the day.

If the blood clots get too irritated they'll come off and you'll find yourself with a dry socket, which means the bone your teeth rest in will be exposed, not very pleasent but don't fret over this, dry sockets in my experience almost always come from patients who have smoked after an extraction, keep away from the fags and you should be fine.

take it easy for the rest of the day if you need to eat/drink keep away from hot food and drink.

listen to your Dentist.

I have one wisdom tooth for no adequate reason.

It had not caused me any problems yet but if it does I know where it lives!

If you'd like I can give you three of mine, you could just hammer em in there so the one you do have doesn't get lonely
