I saw in on the shelf yesterday at Best Buy while looking for Amiibos and I had to have it. I know its corny, but something about it was just "BUY ME!".

Are they generally good games overall? I've heard they're very Dynasty Warrior-y, except much harder.

Sorry, just felt like a good natured ribbing was in order.

As for the game itself, I can't help you there. From what I can tell, critics didn't like it, but regular people seemed to have a blast. And why shouldn't they?

If it feels like I'm being a bit flippant, I apologize, and direct you to my Steam account, where you will be able to get the upper hand fairly quickly.

I can't speak for the quality of the game but I think being ashamed of purchasing Senran Kagura (or any game for that matter) is a bit much. Just own that shit.

Says the guy who got flustered buying Record of Agarest War's collector's edition as a teen.

The game sucks, yeah, but that boob mousepad and waifu pillow case were so worth it...and I actually still have them. :l

But yeah, I can't see myself being ashamed to buy a game anymore years later. If people are going to negatively judge my character based on a game I bought, that's their issue, not mine.

What's so shameful here? I just see an animeish game with a chick with big knockers on the cover, which as far the anime stereotype goes doesn't even make it unusual.

Then again I'm hardly one to talk. I've got "Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble" in my steam library for all to see (the actual game is way more innocent then the easily misunderstood title might suggest btw).
No fucks given, because it's a cool little indie game. Oh also HuniePop.

Explain for us mere plebs...why should one be ashamed of buying this?
Clothes are the health mechanic - the less health you have, the less your character is wearing.

But nothing really to be ashamed of if you like that kind of thing.

Truth be told, there's plenty of dumb VG outfits I like from a pure aesthetics/fanservice aspect, but I ain't gonna pretend their not dumb and people who don't like them don't have a point.

I'm trying to decide if this is better or worse than the usual mechanic where the highest armour ratings go to things like thongs.

Such plot. So developed. Much intrigue. Wow.

OT: I mean, I can't comment on the quality of the games since I've never played one of them.

I dunno if I've ever bought anything I'd potentially be ashamed of, though I've most certainly played things I'd be embarrassed to have people find out about. I do have Bad Rats and Uncrowded forever in my Steam library, but thankfully I'm not the one who spent money on them.

Since when do English speakers use "oppai"? And why is a game company playing up the sexual elements in a game instead of trying to tone them down? WHAT YEAR IS THIS?!

That's not "shame" you feel you should be feeling... That's the feeling of "This is a good game and I must play it!" ringing through your big, hard, throbbing... brain of yours! Now, if only it also came with the feeling of "I should also buy the e-shop prequel, of sorts, as well!" attached to it...

Other than that, even if the plot was generic for a game centered around strong women with boobs bigger than one's own erection, I'm sure you, of all users for example, would find total enjoyment in this game regardless... Besides, "shame" and any variation of that particular word should not even be in your big, hard, throbbing... vocabulary of yours, anyway!

I don't know if there's particularly a point in shame. I own Onechanbara BSS and Rumble Roses XX. Why? In both cases, I was assured the gameplay was awesome. Was it? Well, in one case, it was almost sort of good.

Is the fanservicey aspect off-putting? *shrug* Kinda. At some point, many years ago, I accepted this kind of crap as the price of entry into gaming. I find a lot of AAA games more off-putting than the TnA games. *coughshebreathesthrougherskincough* And often even good games are laden with it, so yeah.

This is what games look like form an outside perspective though, and not for completely unfounded reasons.

Well, to be honest I have an incredibly low amount of shame in the first place. It's just that games which put the TnA so far forward, whether it's the point as in Senran Kagura or just something the developer wanted a la Metal Gear, it makes me uncomfortable because it's the type of thing I'd find hard to explain if someone just happened to stumble upon me during one of those particular sequences.

Video games are like schlocky C- or D-grade films in more ways than one, and the way they linger so longingly on the form of a woman's body is certainly one of them. It ends up feeling exploitative, even in the games that are actually attempting to be "tasteful" about it. Bonus points if the game pulls a Quantic Dream (or a Bioware, as much as I like them) and tries to be both "tasteful" and exploitative and ends up just being awkward and weird for everyone.

It's like, I'm not actually playing softcore porn here (in most cases), but you could be forgiven for thinking that's what Mass Effect 2 is if you only ever walk in while Miranda or Jack are on screen.

You're joking, right?

So you bought a game with bouncing Anime bewbs. So what? My friends and I rented the latest Onechanbara for the lulz - the mechanics were solid and we had a laugh with how unapologetically fanservice-y this segment of the Japanese industry can be. It doesn't make perverts out of us, as far as I know.

It'd be another story if we blushed and drooled like Master Roshi at the sight of anything that even remotely has female hormones in gaming. As someone else has said, these games are up-front about the way they present the female form. Unlike, say, a recent release whose main character is named after the opposite of soft and a certain variety of lizards. Kojima's handling of Quiet is just excruciatingly painful to watch.

Captcha: "Four score and..."

Me: "I'm French Canadian and I can finish the Gettysburg Address without batting an eyelash. Yawn."

I wouldn't compare Senran Kagura's 3ds entries to Dynasty Warriors and such because Koei makes a more open 3d battleground, and the fighting is more strategic in that positioning is more important.
I'd say it's more a faster paced streets of rage, or Scott Pilgrim vs the world, or something like that, because it's a side scroller that rewards fast reflexes and is pretty hectic, and I don't know what else to compare it to.

Senran Kagura Burst does get challenging *Mutters about the white/red kunoichi, and the poison blowers*, but I haven't played enough Deep Crimson to know how it holds up as the enemies, and fighting style has changed a bit. Odds are, though, if there's a challenge, you can grind a bit, and overcome.

I do think it's an excellent series, perversion aside. Burst was well written, gameplay was great, and it basically had all I could ask for. I'm sure deep Crimson will hold up just fine.

I can understand any shame behind the purchase, but to hell with that, go have fun!

I guess some warning. As great as the series is, er, I'd play with the sound down, or headphones as far as playing around people. Almost every foe so far is a woman, or a doll, so the screams of a dozen girls as you mow them down might garner attention from others if overheard. The levels of boobs, and their jiggle that put DoA to shame are present. In fact I think they're higher in Deep Crimson over Burst. It's loaded with "fan service" like a photoshoot mode but I think it's handled better than in most games. I mean it's so blatant, and by design that you know that you're getting. the fan service is a feature instead of being wedged in to a story that it seems out of place.

Anyhow, I hope you enjoy the game, and I recommend it to pretty much anyone. Kinda strange seeing something like this on a nintendo handheld as it makes bayonetta look tame, but I'm glad it's there.

That does look like a cover that screams "Buy Me." There's nothing to be ashamed of, if you know you'll enjoy the game. (Just don't take it to the checkout girl you might want to ask out.) If I had money to burn and saw it on the shelf, I'd have to remind myself that I know of anime streaming and fanart sites that can supply my well-endowed, sword wielding anime babe fix.

"Double D Edition" - Hehehe. As Jim Sterling said in his review, "At least this game is well aware of its priorities."

The bad part is though I went in there for a different game; Pokemon X, to replace the copy of Pokemon Y I traded in like a dumbass when I got my New 3DS because I forgot there was a Pokemon Bank now and I could've saved all my Kalos Pokemon and my Shiny Froakie and Gardevoir AHHHHHHH!.

So I kind of got distracted by the boobs.
