I have what I think is quickly becoming the average for gamer's non-gaming girlfriends...

She watches me play, makes the appropiate noises when I (again) have to reverse time on a particularly difficult section on POP:Two Thrones and just generally sits back in amazement at yet another beautiful cut-scene from a Square-Enix game...

*EDIT* and yes, she does want to sleep with the Croshaw, and regularly beats me to the pc at 5pm GMT on wednesdays to watch his next review

but recently, there have been developments...

She has started joining in...

Now she likes the button mashers... the kinda game that you can win through sheer fluke if your thumbs move quickly enough...

She has mastered Dynasty Warriors 5, loves Tekken and Soul Calibre, but she has hit a rock...

She adores DW... wants to play more games like it... stupidly bought Kessen II thinking it was the same thing, and Drakengard at a half decent attempt...

can anyone come up with a list of games that are all battlefield based, 'hit this button repeatedly to slaughter thousands', Dynasty Warriors-esque games for the ps2 or Wii that I can get her to shut her up and let me concentrate on GoWII?

I have my priorities right! I sleep 10 hours, work 7 hours cook and eat tea with the gf for an hour which leaves me 6 hours free time each working day... I spend 3 of those on gaming WITH her and the rest gaming for myself while she swtiches on the second tv and puts her games on...

nothing wrong with the priorities... but when she is interrupting MY gaming time to complain that she finds beating Lu Bu on Hard mode 'easy' it...makes My teeth itch...

Why don't you try not gaming, and instead talking to her? Gaming is a solitary activity above all else, and even when you're gaming with people, you don't talk to them too much about important things.

You getting angry that the person you're supposed to love is interrupting unimportant leisure time to ask you for help is not a good thing, you realise?

And hey, why not just skip on the gaming altogether and go for a nice walk, or a gig or something?

We could help. But then again if your reason is to get her to shut up, we won't. That's like treating her like a kid. Just do other stuff instead of gaming. Simple as that...

But you don't understand. Gaming actually would progress a relationship. They would have fun hanging out with said person and stuff.

Alright, seeing as I seem to be the only person here who isn't pissed off at you for wanting to keep your girlfriend quiet; here are a few of my favourite no brainer types.

Chaos Legion ps2. Not the best game ever but mixes up a bit of strategy into the slashing. Oh and it's nice to look at too.
Devil Kings ps2-Capcoms samurai warriors ripoff. Fun and a bit more taxing than DW
No More Heroes?

I'll add some more if I think of them.

You guys are being way too sensetive...he was trying to be funny...he doesn't really abuse his girlfriend. Now that we have that out of the way. I honestly can't think of anything else like Dynasty warriors that isn't actually worse than Dynasty warriors. There is ninety nine nights but that would disrupt your 360 playing...sorry pal.

Hey, he's entitled to his alone time, people! If he wants an eigth of the day to himself, why should we stop him?

I realise that, but when it comes to the point of him getting annoyed when she interrupts, and I'll say this again, ultimately unimportant leisure time because she wants help is not a good thing by any measure.

What about Devil may cry 2? I know it's largely thought of as the worst in the series but I liked it, especially with the bloody palace extra. Kept me quiet for a while.

EDIT: And come on people, it seems to me like she wants to play rather than talk, and is in need of more things to enjoy, rather than attention.

Well, if she's into the major hacks-n-slash, you can't go wrong picking her up more Dynasty Warriors games. She'll probably love the hell out of games like DW 4 and 5 Empires.

Outside of that, if you're limiting her to just those styles of games, you're putting her in a rut. Which, granted, may not be what they want, but it won't be harmful to branch them out, either. I'd say start hitting her up with Action/Adventure/RPG titles, stuff like The Legend of Zelda. It's still a lot of simple hack-slash, but it's also working toward some storylines and strategy.

Which will do one of two things. It'll start boosting the number of games she can play by about... oh... 350%? Oh, and it makes her have more time spent on idle titles, so you won't need new titles as frequently.

'Kay, that being said, hack-n-slash madness?
If you count fighting games, there are some epic collections out there for old school and new school fighters. If you haven't already, the Virtua Fighter game (4 for the PS2), as well as a couple of other fighters I can't think of the names for right now. Do some digging, you'll find a hell-ton. That's one of the things about the PS2.

Otherwise, let's see how well I remember the PS2 library. (These are all mostly action, some part platformer, so there's a little thinking involved. Mindless hack-n-slash is very hard to find outside of the DW games.)
The Bouncer, Ratchet and Clank series, Crash Bandicoot series, Jak and Daxter series, Spyro series, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (that was released on the PS2, right?). Um, if you count sandboxing after a little story gunk, the GTA games could technically count.

Uh yeah, I'm coming a little blank on other stuff right now. I blame the earliness of the morning. Anyway, hope that's helped, at least a little.

That makes you look like a prick. Seriously, it's condescending, dismissive, and ultimately entirely rude. I'm not trying to tell you how to live your life, but dang, dude. Did she kick your puppy recently or something?

Agreed.

This makes you look angry. Seriously, it's pathetic, and ironically more condescending then he was. I'm not telling you to stop acting superior to members with 19 posts, but dang, dude. Did your parents ever teach you how to take a joke?

They did, they did indeed. Some things are peeves for for me, though, and this just happened to trigger one. I don't hate him or anything, but that did seem very rude. Regardless, though, I actually submitted some stuff to help.

On that thought: Just remembered another one. Monster Hunter!

I don't feel like arguing about it. I made my point, and I stand behind my words. If you disagree, let's just agree to disagree, or at least take it to PMs.

He's got every right to be angry at least.

And please, copying someone is possibly the most childish thing you can do.

So when you think of the absolutely most childest act in your head, copying somebody stands out?

If she likes tekken, maybe you could treat her to a psp? That is the best tekken game ever, and more taking than tekken 5. It is christmas soon, if you celebrate any end of year type festivals, that is.

And this argument is getting daft. There's nothing to argue about. You're basing your arguments on a light hearted comment, you are assuming the particulars of a situation that none of us know enough about to judge.
