I'm looking at this guy right now. He's a transforming Transformer and a mp3 player!

He's awesome. Just be aware that ya can't put anything bigger than a 1gb mini sd card in him. The sound quality through a set of earphones is surprisingly good though.

Here's a quick snapshot of my favourite desk guardians.

First, we claim the printer ink. Then, the world! Hahahahahahaha!

Had I the money, I'd be buying a fuckton of the McFarlane's Military action figures.

Nothing wrong with action figures, op. S'a hobby just the same as video gaming, reading, modelling, and all that crap is.

This thread makes me wanna go get my He-man masters of the Universe and GI Joe toys from the storage.

Lots of people, especially artists and desginers have "toys" on their desks. I think it inspires and motivates, or at least gives you something to look at if you're not motivated. It's not always to play, it's a piece of imagination, memories and art.

The thing about the Halo soldiers though is that they're generic as hell, get Transformers, Bioshock toys or at least comic book heroes (or heroines) statues like a "normal" person. :p

P.S. Soundwave that actually plays mp3s!? Brilliant!

the last action figure I bought was one of Joey Ramone. He's currently still in his packaging hanging in a place of honor in the corner of my room.

Then there's the several large boxes of Transformers that I've got in storage...

Nah. That's pretty cool to me at least.

I have a few mecha and random game figures round my desk. I don't really give a fuck if people think they're cool or not, I like 'em.

Who the hell cares what you do with your money?

I don't know why they call McFarlane's line "toys". As toys go they are utter shit, and in the hands of someone who would normally play with toys (a child) an expensive 15 minute experience, and 10 minute super gluing. Look great as display models, but they are not toys.

I have a Chimera that came with the collector's edition of Resistance 2. It's on my desk right now!
Haha, same. Mine is guarding the phone against bill collectors. He has been doing a shitty job of it lately.

Yeah, I've got a bunch of action figures. On my desk right now, I've got a David Tennant Doctor figure, a Matt Smith Doctor figure, and a second David Tennant Doctor figure, this time in a blue suit. Other than them, I've got a few more Doctor Who figures, a lot of superhero ones, and some Star Wars ones.

I love buying the little hunks of plastic. :D

I've got a few action figures. A couple of spawn figures, not because I like the comic, I just think the figures look bad ass.
I've also got a couple of Star Wars figures(still in their packages), some Ninja Turtle minis, a few DBZ characters, some replica Harleys(Motorcycle, not Quinn), and I've got a Beast action figure around here somewhere.
If I had money to burn and wasn't such a penny pincher, I'd have much more.

I've also got this guy:

Which was a gift.
I'll probably get more of those guys just cause I think they're cool.

Dude, Mighty Muggs are the shit. My personal favorite has to be Mola Ram from Temple of Doom:

Just look at his fucking EYES. Never before has insanity been captured so perfectly in plastic. And he even has an adorable little flaming human heart!

*ahem*

Yeah, I collect action figures. Mostly Marvel Legends (95+ and climbing, not counting non-Marvel Legends figures that fit the same scale), but that kind of stopped when they switched over to the smaller Marvel Universe line. I don't play with them though, they're strictly display items. Not that that's wrong or anything. Different strokes for different folks.

Over in my gaming corner (shelf unit and another box unit coming down) I have this Spawn model
which I've had for around about 7 - 8 years. (am 22 now)

I've also got a Mc'Farlane model of Predator
Necrid from Soul Calibur 2
and a Raziel on a stand I got around about 12 years ago.
But spawn was the one I thought would look coolest standing on top of the gaming shelf.

Oh and also on said gaming shelf I have 3/4 of the Square Enix Weapon Arts series; both gunblades and Vincent's Cerberus. (the whole shelf has FF stuff on it)

This sounds silly and sad to me. But hey, if you get your rocks off by playing with figurines, then good for you!!!

I hope your little purchase makes you feel good, and fuck anyone who tells you different!!!

toys can be awesome. I mean I don't play with mine, but there's something to be said for embracing the inner and outer child by having a shelf of G.I. Joes and Marvel Legends.

Manipulating plastic figurines is no different to manipulating a pile of meshes and textures on a screen.
Or, to use another argument, in quote form:
"I'm happy to grow up- but I won't pretend fun things aren't still fun out of fear of looking silly." -Randall Munroe

I still buy action figures. I bought one of Buck from Halo ODST because it's basically an action figure of Nathan Fillion. I wanted something Firefly-related for my desk.
You didn't get his Jane counterpart?
Didn't see one... I think my next action figure is this one though:
http://www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Generation-Anniversary-Captain/dp/B000PALECI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1283440192&sr=1-1

That's gonna look sweet on my desk.
