So I just bought Team Fortress 2.

say wahh??

heavy is my destroyer class, and hell most of the time i don't even have a medic with me, as long as you don't head straight out like the average dumbass heavy you can be one hell of a sneaky brick wall, especially with one of the special miniguns
The issue I have (maybe they fixed it, to be honest I didn't play the game very long because I hated it and had common sense), but my time with the heavy could be summed up with one word, missing. The mini gun does surprisingly little damage for a minigun and can't hit shit but at the closest ranges. The flamethrower has a better effective range than that thing. You're also a huge, slow, very obvious and hittable target, so your extra health doesn't do much unless you have a medic, not that you could ever rely on your team, and people say CoD's bad. I found soldiers to be better tanks since they dish out a lot more pain, are harder to hit, and the rocket launcher actually hits things you want it to.
like i was saying, if your a straightforward heavy, you probably won't survive much, because you are a big bulletsucker like you said, and your slow, in which i make sure to get rid of both of those attributes by combo'ing with the natascha and keeping myself to areas away from straightforward combat with lots of running, keep to corners and you near can't be killed (unless its a god damn spy...i fucking hate spies, pyro is my next played class due to my absolute hate for spies, if there is one in the room you bet your silly ass i'll spend the rest of my gaming time flaming the entire map looking for it)

That would be great, except I don't have the natasha since the game arbitralily denies me it, unless I jump through a lot of complicated hoops, win the lottery, or pay through the nose for reason I've boiled down to greed, shits and giggles, or both. And this still doesn't change the lack of teamwork. I added that in after posting so you might have missed that. Also, you can use those general strategies for any class. The soldier still just plain does the tanking better, at least with the basic loadout, not that that matters since everyone has better weapons than you now, so good luck getting the achievements for new equipment without stat padding.

It is a greater exercise in futility than any other game I've played, but since I've put over 200 hours into it I can hardly say it's a bad game afterwards.

Especially when you use the GRU to move faster and the sandvich to heal yourself afterwards. I still don't have the Brass beast though.
ha yeah, as of right now i just have the natasha+sandvich combo, hopefully eventually i'll be able to randomly pick up another great minigun

i will admit with all the bloody ass combo's out there though..there is some really cheap/cheese strategies out there that people use, i love the game but i've had to limit myself somewhat when playing against certain people/combos
I think the Black Box is very over powered, a Soldier can now burrow into an area and survive for ages, just spamming rockets to heal himself.

I have had a lot of fun with the Axestinguisher though. You know those servers were they have 'premium players', who pay to help maintain the server and in exchange get god-like powers. I take great pleasure in purposefully hunting them down, and nothing stops them like a guaranteed melee crit-hit to the face. It's a matter of pride, especially when in one particular case I started dominating a premium player who was playing Demoman, and he started complaining because we were ganging up on him. This is after spending about two minutes with me dueling him in the loft space at the top of the base on CTF_Well, constanly switching ends and collecting health packs that sustained us indefintely. That's when my team mates come up the stairs in a Heavy-Medic combo. :)

Also I have had huge amounts of fun trolling Snipers on 2Fort with the Wrangler. You put down the level three sentry just round the corner, use the Wrangler to spray the opposite balcony, and when they're about to destroy it you pick it up and move it back into cover to repair it.

I don't have TF2, that, Portal 2, and the Left4Dead games are the only Valve games I don't have.
If someone could gift me TF2, I'd be their best friend forever. Anyone have a spare one?

I GET MOST OF MY KILLS AS HEAVY!
And the rest as demo...
Yet again, most of my points come from pyro... but he would be better if my PC had a better graphics card...

WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT BUY ANYTHING. I just learned the hardway it is a waste of money....I do have a cool hat now though. The different weapons are cool, find the ones you like and trade the ones you don't for nametags. Find your groove and pwn.

good god do i agree, i don't mind soldiers being confident and brave, but when you troll with the black box its not even fun anymore, the splash damage healing requires you to either A)catch em from behind or B) be lucky as fuck with crit hits, otherwise that soldier easily has the advantage to take you down

lol i will agree on the trolling, i'll occasionally snipe but anytime i see a croc hat+ piss rifle combo, i immediately go to troll mode and do whatever combo is necessary to rape on them.

TF2 is a good game, just experiment with the classes and choose the ones you like. You have to work as a team to win the games.

Scout: Fast Class, used to capture points or flags.
Pyro: Close range damage dealer, good for breaking up groups. Can't Burn. Easily find spies.
Soldier: All around class, mostly used for 1v1.
Heavy: Slow but steady class, can break up camps, deadly when paired with a skilled medic.
Demoman: Used for defending a specific area using bombs, or taking down sentries.
Engineer: Primary defence, used to keep hold of an area or advancing your team forward quickly.
Sniper: Long range, quick kills to pick off important targets (Medics) and weaken rushes.
Spy: Sneaky class to hide among the enemy ranks and kill enemies from behind or sap sentries.
Medic: Healing class to keep your team alive. Ubercharges make you + other invincible to break camps.

Each team member must do their job to help another class do theirs. Scouts cant cap the intel with sentries gaurding the place, spies should sap these. Your intel is going to be capped without defence. Engineers and demomen can solve this. Snipers can't snipe and engineers can't build with spies destroying everything, pyros can easily solve this. Medics can't heal with enemy snipers, other snipers, soldiers, or almost any other medium/long range class can solve this.

Plan out when you are going to attack or rush, a medic must plan when he is going to uber, ubering is usually done to destroy a bothersome sentry, if a scout can run in while this is happening, you can easily run through this opening to get to the intel.

The Natascha happens to be unlockable via heavy achievements :p. It is directly achievable. The hoops to get it are actually kinda fun to jump through.
Oh and Soldier + direct hit rocket spam = profit

The demoman actually works as an offensive character now. I generally roll with a chargin' targe, a Scottsman's Skullcutter and a Loch'n'Load.

Basically, I charge in and decapitate people with an axe.

TF2 is like Marmite, either love it or hate it. I suggest playing offline for a bit and practising with each class against bots (except spy on anything higher than normal, srsly bots cheat when it comes to you being a spy on hard+). After you get a few milestone achievements and a few hours of gameplay you'll unlock new weps and stuff that will allow you to have new tactics. For example, I wasn't a very good soldier until I unlocked the Black Box. The trading business that everyone is talking about isn't as bad as they say, I've played a fair bit over the last fortnight and have rarely had more than 2 trade requests in each 1-2hour session.

Night-team servers are a good starter since they fill empty slots with bots to force the game to be 20 man without lag. Only prob is that the bots seem to love to go heavy, medic and engineer (oh god the dispenser spams).

I personally havent taken an interest in crafting or trading and I still love the game. Also, don't feel pressured into buying items, I haven't bought a single one and have everything that complements my gameplay and besides, all items are balanced with negatives so in essence they are all as good as each other (k that's a lie but yeah :p)

If you want a game add me, I'm mostly on at night time english time. Steam name's the same as my escapist one

They're not fun when you're having a hard time doing them. I've really hated this new trend of having to unlock gear, preventing you from bringing your best abilities to bear, and TF2 has really taken it to its worst extreme. At least in CoD everything except sucking get you closer to it. In TF2 you have to achieve very specific directions, some of which are near impossible, unless you stat pad of course.

Soldier does it better. Does more damage, moves faster, high health, a weapon that can actually hit things. The only things heavy has is about 50% more health (200 to 300 if I recall), but the heavy's big fat ass will take 200% more hits making that advantage moot.

The soldier's main weapon has a clip of four shots. The heavy can keep the damage coming for much longer, hence making him better at suppressing fire. Not to mention that the minigun still does a lot of damage.

The heavy is supposed to have a medic. At all times. So, no, I suppose that on his own he's not very good, but it's a team based shooter. That's how it works with every class.

clip size doessn't matter if he can't hit shit. running right in to a heavy with his blazing minigun and killing him with a flamethrower and coming out quite well (yes I did that) does not instill confidence in his abilities. And when can you ever rely on your team? See one of my previous posts (the long one) about examples in "team work"
