I was walking home last night and saw a group of people that approached me. They literally stole my shoes and were about to steal my wallet and throw me off this bridge. I got out of their control and managed to jump off it and land on a train.

How fucked up are the times we live in that random people seriously attempt to kill someone for shoes and a damn wallet?

Has anyone else had an experience being mugged, or attempted mugging? I'm fairly proficient in Krav Maga. But taking on five people at once is quite difficult. I managed to submit the big guy, but some other dude repeatedly punched me in the head until I retreated.

I jumped off a 30 foot bridge, on to a train, so about a 20 foot drop. Jumped off, and walked home 4 miles in my socks. Sorry for the profanity, but I seriously think this is messed up.

Not me, but my uncle was held up at knife point. He had a gun. Guess who came out of that the better? Here's a hint: My uncle knows how to use a gun well.

You've my sympathy, my friend. People are jerks some times.

I assume this train wasn't moving. If it was congratulations sir you are Batman and have just won the superiority badge.

Do you live in a big city or somethin. We don't have much crime in my town so I've never had such a problem. Still though glad you came out alive man.

I learned recently that my uncle is the biggest badass ever.
I shit you not, he was walking out of a bar, and a guy stabbed him, and he took the knife out, and stabbed him back.
If you don't believe me, fine, but you are wrong.

I was in Minnesota, where I live. I think the offenders were on some kind of drugs and in a gang. They pretty much fucked me up. I have quite the number of bruises and I've been sore the entire day from this um, beat and height jumping.

Like I said, I did decent against the larger member of the group, but the sheer number of them dominated me. I agree with the fact that we live in a world with bad people. Still sucks to get mugged.

Also, thanks for the humorous support.

That's actually pretty incredible. Everybody I know that's been mugged by more than one person has basically had everything taken and gotten the shit kicked out of them. Good on you for escaping without that happening.

I've only been threatened for my things once. I guy approached me behind my workplace and demanded my wallet while holding a small knife. Carrying a knife myself (for work purposes) I was debating pulling it and attempting to defend myself that way but then I remembered something I'd seen in a movie. I calmly pulled out my wallet and repeated things like "Okay buddy, I don't want any trouble." Placed the wallet on the ground and when he stooped to pick it up I kicked him in the teeth with my steel-toed boots and basically started to shoe-fuck his face while shouting for my coworkers to call the police. I had to stay late until they arrived to give a statement but they said I could have handled the situation better.

Sorry I was in the mindset that if somebody threatens me with a weapon I have the right to kick them in the teeth. My bad.

Um, did this train happen to be moving? Additionally sound off the unavoidable injuries to your legs, hips, and lower body in addition to any contusions or lacerations to your hands, arms, and face as a direct result of the fall in order of severity.

Perhaps it's just because it's the internet, but I am skeptical of your story.
We live in shitty times. A few people I know have nearly been/have been mugged, raped or bashed while walking home.

That would totally be my mindset if I could get away with it unharmed. Why hold back? Not like any mugging prick deserves restraint in punishment.

OP: Yeah, it's a damn shame. Sorry to hear you lost your stuff. I also repeat the first guy in saying that you're the goddamn Batman.

And people call me paranoid/crazy for wanting to apply for a handgun carry permit the day I get a handgun. So glad I live in a Stand Your Ground state.

I say your next step is to submit that story to Hollywood.

No I've never been mugged or even come close to it. I live in the nicest 50's like nuclear family suburb you'll ever see. So it makes me wonder why I'm even posting, but nonetheless, you have my sympathies.

It sucks man.

I was fortunate that I didn't get to the violent part. I had a few drinks in me, at night, and dropped my muffler in a bad part of a bad town. [I hope that I have better sense than to get out of the car when the drinks aren't involved.] I was fortunate in that I picked up the muffler, just before I realized that three 'bastions of the community' had managed to get between me and the car. I did have the sense to realize that my options were very limited, so I put up a bold front and expected the worst. The car's muffler was friggin' huge but also unwieldy, so whatever did happen was going to be brief and painful. I got lucky and a police car happened to crawl by, whereupon these guys seemed to melt away.

I didn't take any blows to the head, but my pride and my ego were wounded just the same. I remember thinking at the time that I didn't deserve this kind of random shit. It took me awhile to stop dwelling on it. Its wrong to take it personally, but its really hard not to.

Edit: And the jump? Awesome.
I think I would have done the same.
You guys want my stuff? How bad do ya want it?

Well your shoes were really nice......
Wearing those kind of shoes in that kind of area is just asking to be mugged......
Wait am I talking about another subject now?

Referring to the second post first, I can understand you'd be skeptical. People often lie, and I'm not going to try to convince you what I'm saying is true. I just wish that you'd respect what happened to me as quite serious.

To the prior, the train wasn't moving too fast. I'd say about 10ish miles per hour, as it was nearing a station. I sustained a fair amount of muscular stress to my calves, almost all of my arm muscles, some chest muscle strain, and my back isn't quite happy right now. Luckily nothing was broken, but I feel like I got hit by that train today. Not exactly fun. Plus walking home in my socks basically made my feet somewhat raw. Unpleasant.

Wait, was it moving? If so, that might be the coolest thing I've ever heard.

OT: Luckily, I've never been robbed/mugged, but that's probably because I've been fortunate enough to live in some pretty upscale neighborhoods, where crime is almost nonexistent.
