I've gotta say, I agree with this. It just seems wrong to objectify people like that.
You're not objectifying jack. They're showing you their breasts, with the understanding that you would enjoy looking at them. That's their decision, right there, and it's a decision they have a right to make.

Besides, what's the argument, here? That if you pay to look at a woman's breasts, you see her as nothing but meat? If I pay to see a singer perform, am I seeing them as nothing but a pair of vocal chords? It's just two different kinds of enjoyment.
I don't have anything against you if you want to do it, and your points do make sense. I'm just saying that I would not be able to do that. I just wouldn't feel right treating someone else like a display. But if you want to do it, fine. I'm not judging you.
Oh, hell no. I'm not the strip club type.

Why? You said you spent a lot of money and you were only there for an hour. If I am going to spend a lot of money on something it will be something that I can use over and over again for hours and get enjoyment out of like a new video game.

Whatever you want to do with your money is your choice but saying go to a strip club sounds like you are trying to force us to go.

Watch that and you'll never need to go to a strip club again, good ol Motley Crue. =P

I'm not really for or against it, as long as they're the "i'm cool with this and it's clear i bathe" type of stripper i'll give it a shot when i turn 18. Other than that, it's just a little creepy..
And guys, i think Girl With One Eye gets it, no need to nail a coffin that would make a metal detector explode right? Not that i agree with here in any way but still, let it go.. The idea of an internet forum is conversation and discussion, not witch-hunting and ignorance towards people's opinions. And yes, i'm aware it started because of an ignorant statement, but there you go, that's life. Take some pride in not bitching at what's probably an ignored and spammed folder.

I really don't see the point of them. They are merely overpriced exercises in frustration.

There are literally thousands of places where the chances of me leaving with a woman are non existent and most of them are cheaper.

Seriously, it's not like they are forced to dance, they do it and get plenty of money, so it's not immoral or anything, it's ok if you don't like it, but it bothers me that you find it disgusting that he went.
Whilst I disagree with the raging feminist you were replying to, I had to call you on the "it's not immoral" thing. Given that morals are unique to an individual, it's kind of hard to say whether something is or is not immoral in an objective sense, given it's going to be tainted by opinion. If you think about it, whilst women are free to do so, taking off their clothes and dancing for money isn't entirely the most moral job on Earth. It's still using sex to part people with their money, and a fair bit of enticement is used by erotic dancers to get patrons to part with more and more of their money.

So, yes, you were correct in that it isn't entirely immoral... but trying to argue that it's entirely moral is the start of a losing battle too.

Either way, on topic, not my scene really. Just seems dirty and seedy to me, but whatever floats your boat I guess.

Lighten up. No one bats an eye when a male stripper gets up and starts degrading himself on Hen nights.
I do. Just thought that you should know that going "no one [whatevers]" is going to be wrong, because there will always be someone who has a different opinion. I'm not saying people shouldn't strip for money, I just don't personally like it, it doesn't matter if they're male or female. Whatever floats your boat, but naked people dancing for money in public? Eh, no thanks.

Double standards and mindless hypocrites that perpetuate them piss me off. It's perfectly fine for older women to objectify younger men and act like complete fucking sluts (see one of this years biggest movies and its predecessor last year) but put the other way around and it's call the fucking suffragettes.
Where as I have no problem with older women being attracted to younger men, or older men attracted to younger women. You can't help what you are attracted to, after all. I'm the perfect example of that, given I'm 23, and my fiancée is 33.

Still, you have to admit that some older men do come across as creepy when they are fantasising about younger girls, just as it's really fucking creepy the number of older women who go "ohhh, Edward/Jacob, I want to screw you" when watching Twilight. Whilst some people take it too far, you can hardly say everyone is a hypocrite, or that their opinions are entirely incorrect.

Ahh, fair enough then, I misunderstood the intent of your post. My apologies for that.

But yea, when has Society ever really done anything that made sense? I try to just ignore what "society" tells me to do and work by my own moral code. I find it a lot less aggravating and a lot easier than trying to follow something that, to me, makes no sense.

I will support your post by showing this though:

Well excuse me for not thinking its ok to support the idea of woman getting naked for money. I will no longer be posting in this thread.
I get that you don't like the idea... however if the girls who do it have fun (and make no mistake a lot of them do and aren't the least bothered by it)... why does it bother you? Why should other people conform to the way you think things should be?

Your body is the one thing you truly own and if thats what they enjoy and want to do, telling them they can't is just as much of an abuse as forcing someone to do it when they don't want to.

I'm more then open to a reasonable discussion on this if you have anything to add. Or feel free to PM me about it.

I was in a strip club on my trip to Switzerland.
I got offered the 'special' service. 4 times. In half an hour.
They take credit cards too, apparently.

I wonder where you put them?

Never been to a strip club, can't say I'd be really interested either, though I did go to a pole-dancing club as part of The Sopranos tour (yes, it was the Bada Bing, but with it's real name :D). Apparently in New Jersey there's a law saying you can't have both nudity and alcohol in the one premise, so you have to choose. This particular place chose alcohol. Priorities, eh?

What made me most uncomfortable was that I was with my mum, though I made sure we didn't go in together. It looked like a real depressing place, and the women weren't exactly attractive. However, I did laugh on finding out that there was an ATM in the place that only dispensed one dollar bills.

Yeah... it's the consummate irony that while one group of women bitches incessantly about how stripping is the consummate degradation of the female gender, another group exhibits behaviour at the sight of an oiled up muscle man that would get any dude thrown out of every strip club in the world. Ah, hypocrisy.
It wasn't just the strippers getting mauled, either. Every bloke they could lay hand to ended up with his clothing in tatters. Staff, security, hell, even cops were having their uniforms torn off. Lighting and Sound engineers barricaded themselves in the booth until the cops cleared everyone out. One of the security guard not only lost all his clothes but also one of his bollocks... and he had a face like a smashed crab.
Am I wrong for picturing the end of the recent Dawn of the Dead remake where they get to the island that they thought would be safe, and end up being set upon by a wave of Zombies?

As a woman, I have no issues with strippers or stripping. Even prostitution is fine AS LONG AS ITS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO.

I think men make too much of an issue out of a naked woman. They sit there trying to enjoy themselves but they don't want to look like it or else they're perverts. It's more fun when women go to strip clubs. We make a party out of it because we don't care if someone wants to judge us for having a good time (lesbian or not).

Guys need to have more fun with it. Stop looking over your shoulder to see if someone is judging you.

Sorry i guess we know how to have fun.
Do you think the strippers were having 'fun'? Do you think they feel good about themselves? I mean hey, if you have fun by demeaning and objectifying woman then well theres not much I can say. But really, next time think about how your actions make others feel.
Ive allways been confused by this arguement and your perfectly entitled to your oppinion but so many peopele say that. it just doesnt make sense. If you talk to most strippers, or people in other professions similar such as porn and legal prostitution the majority of the strippers, porn stars, and prostitutes typicaly enjoy thier job, they make good money, and really show more independence in making the choice to use thier bodies to make money. Really if anything objectifies women its television, movies and other media. While people may not aggree with this means of supporting ones self it really just confuses me how people can be outspoken against these things when these strippers are probably better role models than the skanky hollwood coke whores that are such big celebrities these days.

I've never been to a strip club. I have nothing against it or against whoring for that matter, if an adult woman or man wants to make some extra cash by undressing and dancing or turning a few tricks who am I to judge them, there's a wide variety of lifestyles available out there and that's just one of them. You might say it's soul-destroying, but so is working 9 to 9 and turning into a walking zombie while your boss takes advantage of your desparation and pays you no overtime and sometimes even no insurance (pretty common in my country). Life is hard, people are garbage and you can't do anything about it, that's how it goes.

Now, strip clubs are just not my entertainment of choice, I prefer to hang out with my friends and watch a movie or have a lan party, it's more fun and more relaxing, and when I'm with friends I want to be free to act all nerdy and goofy and relax. I am also a bit over-analytical about some things, and that's one of them. I enjoy watching a half-naked female body as much as the next guy, but the fact that the other party is not willing just kills it for me, it just makes me feel like a loser. I find the mutual attraction, the smile and the provocative word much more stimulating, nudity be damned.
