My 360 just RRoD'd not 3 hours ago, and the warranty expired years ago...

You shouldn't have this problem, well I'm off to buy a newer model...
Haven't Miscrosoft got the whole lifetime warranty against the Red ring as it is a problem which affects all Xboxes??
*Checks Microsoft*

You sir just saved me $200...
I thought the warranty was only 3 years? They recently refused to repair my xbox when it red ringed out of warranty. I managed to wrangle a new one for christmas, so all is well (26 and getting a games console for christmas, I know, I know), but stil...
As far as I am aware Microsoft offer a lifetime warranty for the Red Ring. Might depend on when the console was bought or something. Mine hasn't Red Ringed yet (touch wood) but ive got friends who've had the Red Ring 3 maybe 4 times and each time its been repaired for free.

I was a little tempted to pick up a 360 just today actually while I was in sainsburys. They had the black elite console with gears of war 2 for 160GBP, but I decided to pass. Just reinstalled gears of war on my PC instead.

(If you have a PS3, try a Monster Hunter title. In the Western Hemisphere it has a small cult following, but in Japan the game sells out millions. And it's NOT a JRPG!)
There is no Monster Hunter games for the PS3... well not yet anyway, it's the only current-gen console without a MH game so maybe one will show up soon...
However, there is an online one, on the Xbox 360 and the same one is on PC

GOOD GOOD, Let the Hatred Flow through you!

OT: There is no real reason why not to get a console of some description although just remember to get the PC version of any first person shooters and you should be fine.

I think you'll find that's just your opinion, not a fact.
It may have a few problems but it's a really fun game when played with a bunch of friends over XBL.
Facts:

- Horribly imbalanced perks.
- Dreadful anti-game killstreak perks that are not only imbalanced but also reward camping.
- Almost all guns 2-hit-kill people with the stopping power perk, and you can even dual wield many of them (which is utterly ridiculous), resulting in a more luck-based "who stumbles across who" first gameplay, which in turn rewards camping.
- LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG. Peer-to-peer connections mean someone will inevitably have a considerable advantage, and everyone else can go suck it.
- Complete lack of any control over your game since it's matchmaking and peer-to-peer.

While liking anything is ultimately a matter of taste, you can like licking dog turds for all I anyone cares, and you can't really argue with that, I think there are enough factual evidence to argue quality.
Fact:

I have only noticed one of thesse facts while playing

Fact:

regardles of theese facts i enjoy the online

Fact:

therefor macking it oppinion not fact

Thanks for all the suggestions peeps. The console bundle comes with ODST, Fable 2, Forza 3 and Gears of War 2. Other 360 games I think im gonna get are halo 3, Brutal Legend, Warhammer40K:Space Marine when it comes out and crackdown. Are there any other gems I should get? please bear in mind that if its good and also out for the PC too, chances are I already have it.

EDIT:

yeah, I love playing MW2 online too. Only thing wrong with it is lack of dedicated server support. sometimes takes an age to find a game.
