So I'm trying to trick my cat into thinking I'm deaf....

I don't think it'll think you're deaf, but in some time, it might realize that meowing doesn't help.

This. I don't know of any evidence that cats can reason on the level that would allow them to believe someone is deaf. But behavioral conditioning can work.

It dosent work they just want to bug you till you feed them. i ignored the scratching for a while then i decided to feed it when it started meowing in my ear. They are very cuning creatures sometimes i think that they are planning my demise. My cat has already mastered free running and is practising using its hidden blades. they will ambush you when you are least expecting ALWAYS and i mean ALWAYS be packing. My arm has not been the same since.

It always meows and stuff when it's hungry and it really annoys me, so I'm trying to ignore it's meowing and make it think I'm deaf so it will quit. So what I wanna know is, do you think it will work?

Am I weird for trying this?

Have you done anything similar? Did it work?

EDIT: I'm not negligent, it gets fed 3 times a day, everyday, it's just impatient, fat and greedy.

when you feed cats certain times a day and only portions they get fat and are hungry all the time, so whenever i get a new cat i always free feed(fill the dish to max) and my cats never get fat or greedy with food, they just come and go whenever they want. my cats are nice and healthy the way cats should be. so try that out it should work fine, unless you feet your cat wet food then thats no good, dry food seems to be the best. Hope that helps.

Feed the cat whenever it's time to feed it and either ignore it or stroke it at other times. How is this difficult?

Why not just feed it?

You could rig the middle of the cat bowl with squirts of water whenever it tries to eat, then when it becomes immune to the water out of need for food, upgrade to more and more lethal things until you have a super-cat, then ride it to taco bell and get something to eat.

As for the cat, do what someone else said and spray it in the face. For best results, get a plastic refillable skooshy container, like what you buy window cleaner in. It worked wonders for my dog, until it started coming up to me just to get sprayed in the face.

It works on ferrets and small children too.

it also works on men. i leaned over to spray my cat for being on the furniture, and my boyfriend tried to unhook my bra. so i sprayed him in the face. he was very confused.

on topic, yes, spray bottles work.

So? If you have a yard let it out in the backyard it won't go far.

No fences and it's too lazy to go out anyway, it lies on the heating vent all day and doesn't even try to play or do anything when we try and play with it.

It's not to lazy to go out. It never tries to go outside because you never let it go outside. I had to start throwing my cat outside when I first got him before he actually wanted to go outside. Spent the almost the entirety of the first year alive in the same apartment.

We used to take it outside quite often and let it hang out and it was never very interested and would just come back inside to the warmth/cool climate of the house

It's not that I don't trust you personally. It's that I don't trust what I am reading.

I mean what's the point of giving (or in your case asking for) advice when you have it all worked out? Which you so obviously do since that's pretty much the response you have given to everyone.

My cat started staring at me as I am about to wake up. Three times now this last week I have opened my eyes after waking up to see my cat's face inches away from mine.
