People who aren't part of the furry fandom should really stop posting nonsense about something they don't understand and aren't part of.

Just my 2 cents.
Rationality! I love it!

You called bullshit to a post that said Anthropomorphic =/= furry I made an argument that showed that the post was right.

If you take the definition of anthropomorphic C-3PO belong in the category and he even have human personalities.

Is he furry? I would say no.
You may be shocked to hear I will agree. He's not furry, but still anthropomorphic.

Get my drift?

We'll do that when the furries stop claiming things that aren't connected to them as their own.
Did you read that before you.........what does that even mean?

As someone that draws anthropomorphic designs frequently I tend to get this a lot. Naturally it helps avoiding the muzzle faces since on a realistic scale a more human appearance is not only more realistic but feasible with expressions. I mean come on, we're talking hybrids here.

If you've noticed, a significant portion of the last several pages entire thread have has consisted of furries claiming things like Looney Toons and various Disney movies were furry works, and non-furries arguing that they weren't.

Well, they obviously where not created for furrys specifically. But they could still be considered furry I guess.......

See I'm not into this, so I don't know!!!

I've been trying to think of someone with a furry avatar and came up blank...

Now My Little Pony avatars, those are different.

So can you provide an example of "that smile" or do you want to keep people guessing?
The link is on page one, but I'm embedding the image because you aren't the first person to ask this.

I don't personally know anybody who identifies as a furry, but whenever I see a person with a furry for an avatar, I see one constant.

That smile. Every damn furry picture has it, the same creepy(in my opinion, anyways) smile. So can anyone tell me what that's all about or is it just some unknown trend that isn't going away any time soon.

EDIT: To specify on "Furries", I mean the ones who use anthropomorphic forms of various animals. The ones that look like people, but with more hair and funny noses.
the same reason why there are so many self-declared "artists" in the furry fandom: as animals are easyer to draw then people (this was the original reason mickey mouse and donald duck and such came into existence), this creepy as smile is relatively easy to draw. it's this default formula for comic drawing, everyone can do it with some practice.

Then why did you attack Samechiel when he said that Anthropomorphic =/= furry.
Because it does and it doesn't.

The backbone of the furry fandom is anthropomorphic animals, though (here's comes the opinions), there's also an intent behind it.

Meaning, you 'make' something furry from your intent to do so. But anything that merely takes up the appearance, yet what had a creator who had no intent to add to the fandom's stockpile of art, means it isn't 'furry', because it specifically wasn't meant to be part of fandom.

Though of course people disagree, thinking whether or not the artist knew what the fuck the fandom was, if it's something not human, made to look human, then it may as well add to our overbearing stockpile.

Not only does it not look "creepy", it is also in none of the avatars of any of the "furries" who posted here and thus not a "trend".
It seems this is a good topic with a lot of focus and discussion value.
I agree that this is a good topic, and that it doesn't seem to be a trend on The Escapist. However, the picture I embedded was actually some escapist or another's avatar. Regardless, I'm pretty sure the OP was referring to the internet as a whole, and from what I've seen on other forums, that smile is fairly common.

Wolfie is not a furry and he is not smiling. (At least not on the outside.)
You know, until about a year ago i used to see people with pictures like yours as just people who think that particular picture is cool, or that particular animal or whatever. Now, what with the RIDICULOUS abundance of furries trying to force their beliefs on the, uh, other folk, like an insane religious zealot, i can't look at an animal avatar without thinking "that person's a furry".

Then why did you attack Samechiel when he said that Anthropomorphic =/= furry.
Because tiger = cat, lion = cat but tiger =/= lion.
The tiger is the furries, lions are robots and cat is anthromorphic.
But you just proved your self wrong if a tiger is a cat and a lion is a cat, a cat is not the same as a tiger.
You said tiger and cat is the same, lion and cat is the same and tiger and lion not the same. In this case the = can't be used.

Anthropomorphic =/= furry, means that the two is not the same.

furry=> Anthropomorphic, means that if furry then Anthropomorphic. This is right.
Anthropomorphic=> furry, means that if Anthropomorphic then furry. This is wrong.
Both has to be right for Anthropomorphic =/= furry to be false.

Well... is there another way to make a dog appear to smile that would be less "creepy"?
There is, but it would require the artist to spend enough time with actual dogs to get the relevant facial expression right. I'm sure we've all seen it at some point. The one in the picture, however, is the result of trying to shoehorn a human facial expression onto a dog's face.

About as close as your going to get to a canine smiling.

I don't know whether Ammy is happy because she's just been rescued, or happy because of who rescued her.

Now, X-23 needs to be in that picture and I've got my whole Marvel vs Capcom 3 team.
