I've been raised in a culture where sex is sacred and a very intimate thing. Then I hear of people eager to lose their virginity as soon as possible? Some even at the age of fourteen? Are people really that desperate for fornication?
Ok ill bite, what culture is this?

I also agree with you.

I prefer to wait to have sex with someone I really care about and trust (thus far I have only one sexual partner, my current girlfriend).

However, what others choose to do with their lives is none of my concern. If someone else is happy and fulfilled by having sex with hundreds of casual partners, more power to them! It's not for me, but neither am I interested in sports, fancy cars, smoking, etc, and I certainly don't speak against any of those interests. Why would sex be any different?

Personally, I think who you do it with is more important than how often you do it.

I'm 16, I'm not a virgin. I lost my virginity at 14 to some one whom I loved more than anything. We did it once, occasionally twice, a week for about a year, so for the time our relationship lasted. Sadly, she cheated on me, ending it.

I have had relationships sinse then, including casual sex; however, it hasn't been as special when it wasn't with that one person.

Basically, I'm all for sex, whether it be casual or romantic, and it doesn't matter how often you do it with, only who. Say, if you had sex a lot within (For the sake f simplicity) a Month, but with only one or two (Or even three) people then that doesn't make you a "slut". If you have sex as regularly within the same month, but with five or six people, in my opinion, that doesn't make you a "slut" either, just simply seeking bodily pleasures.

To summarise, Casual Sex is pleasure for two people who aren't in a committed relationship, regardless of how many people you do it with.

[sub]Cheating, however, is another story...[/sub]

Besides, sex (as with anything humans do) has no meaning except the continuation of the species, nothing more.
lol I think a more adequite summary is; A son in 8th grade? damn that's early.

OT: Don't worry about it too much. Myself I'm much more romantic about sex, so my girlfriend and I like to keep thing between us.
I love to watch shows like Ladette to Lady, because it's so funny to just have a show revolving around people with fucked up lives volunteering to go on the show to change their lives and then fucking it up once again. But hey, maybe I'm just cruel. XD
My other friend lost his virginity in fifth grade.

I wasted my youth having casual sex, but now that I'm an old dude, I feel like the only way to have sex is with a normal relationship with me wife.

I will be honest; I have trouble thinking about a girl romantically if I know she has had several previous partners. It bothers me that I have waited (and am still waiting) patently for "the one" and they started sleeping around as soon as they got their contraceptive pills.

It also has to do with the fact that I am in no hurry to get into a relationship. I can wait as long as I live for my ?perfect girl? and if I never meet her, then I?m not really to bothered.

I dont know if i could live in a open relationship. Well if you set your rules and it works, maybe it can work out, i dont know.
I am very lucky with my "normal" relationship, some friends of mine spice up their live by taking 1 or two additional people in their beds, well i guess that works better than "roaming free" on your own in a open relationship.

When it comes to casual sex. well, i had it and i loved it. It's not that i went out every night looking for someone to screw. But when i met a girl on a concert/party/festival/coffeeshop and i was very attracted to her and the funny butterfly feeling in your tummy starts, well it hasnt always to lead to a relationship, perhaps you see that you dont really fit that much, but you still can share a nice night together.
Well or you are just friends, like yourselfs very much, and then the good ol'alcodevil comes in play, hasnt to be a bad thing either.
Well or sometimes, when occasions i mentioned above havent happened in like a few month, you just take someone from a club. Humans are nothing but animals too sometimes.

What i just can't understand is the guys stating "yeah sex is great, i love it. But i don't want the girl to have slept with too many guys." As if its ok if they do it but it isnt the other way around. Thats infinatly moronic .

As a guy, I think the idea of casual sex is cool in theory - being able to hook up with and shag someone whenever you want sounds kinda neat. I can definitely see the appeal.

However I've always been a commitment type guy, and I'd rather have a meaningful relationship than a lot of sex. Sex with someone you have a meaningful relationship with feels right.

I guess I also get jealous easily, so I'd hate to think the girl I'm with is also with a bunch of other guys at the same time, and it would be hypocritical to think someone I won't commit to would commit to me.

At the end of the day, I'm married and have no interest in any women aside from my wife anyway.

I have been with 3 guys, one was casual and he was the worst by far(the other two were virgins and he was still way worse). I don't know if that's the luck of the draw or cause it was unattached sex. So from my experience I would say go for the more romantic sex.

I'm not completely settled on any of this, but I am okay with casual sex; however, kissing is sort of a thing I would only be comfortable doing with someone I feel I love. To me, sex can be done for the pleasure of it, while kissing is an expression of love.

So? Are you trying to prove something? All it proves is that losing your virginity in 5th grade is fucked up, no matter how you look at it, boy or girl.

Ha, I think people like that deserve to get sexual diseases. They obviously don't regard their sexual health and well being, so balls to them. (Quite literally...)
It's usually because those people have incredibly low self esteem, sleeping around ups it for a while but destroys it when they realise they were used. I pity them more than anything.
I'm probably just a prude though, I only sleep with my boyfriends and pretty much everything on TV seems to think it's fine to cheat on your significant other.
What the fuck?

Who are "people like that"? You mean those who have casual sex, they deserve an STD/STI? even if they're practising safe sex, which can't be said for most people in relationships.

Some yes, need to boost their self esteem for 1/2 hour and that's very sad and I do feel sorry for them as something is missing in their lives, but most just love sex?

I'e slept with a lot of people, but I love sex, I have no issues regarding my self esteem and I did not deserve an STI (which I've never had) because I practised safe sex.

As long as you use protection and all parties involved are willing then I see absolutely no problem with casual sex.

Sex is a wonderful thing that can be shared between two or more people on many levels. While sex as the purest expression of love is a truly amazing and beautiful thing, everything you have sex does not need to be an expression of complete love.

That would be like having a pen and a piece of paper and only ever being allowed to write in iambic pentameter.

Some people I have made love to, some people I have fucked, some people I have had sex with, all having very different emotional context, some without any emotional context at all other than two people enjoying something together.

I guess I find myself somewhere in between, as I don't particularly approve of anyone having a tremendous amount of partners, but I'm not a supporter of all-romantic sex either. I myself have had a few fuck friends, whom I've stuck with for as long as a year at the time, but no romantic feelings where involved, and it worked great for me. Everyone has a different perspective on sex, what they enjoy, and what they want out of it.

All my relationships are open - I myself am polyamorous, but I'm not especially interested in sex. This is a big reason why my relationshops are open. I understand I'm not very good at fulfilling a partners sexual needs, but I still want them to be happy, so if they can find someone who can, they can go for it.

I'm not bothered by others sexual appetites, however I am bothered when they don't practice safe sex. It should be taken as a given.
That's a very mature attitude to polyamourism. I always assumed most people were for it for some selfish gain. ("Moar sex for me!")

I can honestly say I wouldn't be as selfless as you though.
I can get insanely jealous over even tiny things, and that'd drive me right over the edge. I wouldn't even want it for myself, because I don't think anything so trivial is worth risking my relationship; I wouldn't even want a threesome in case my girlfriend felt bad after. Human emotions are a fickle business.

To people in general: Different strokes for different folks. It doesn't bother me at all if other people have lots of casual sex.

Religion plays a big part on my view of sex, which is that sex before marriage is a sin. Not a mortal sin, but a sin still.

However, I don't care a whit if other people have casual sex, talk about sex, or make jokes about sex. Life has inured me to anything shocking and sex-related. Heterosexual sex, that is. My feelings on homosexual sex cannot be expressed here, what with the BANHAMMER hanging over me like Damocles' sword.

Sex is about procreation anyway, that's why it exists...to make babies. We're such a self involved and narcissistic species that we make it about us.
Gah damn it, I knew I was doing it wrong.
I don't stuff my ears with cotton wool before I play the piano...

That's my feeling. As I said, I have no real sex drive to start with, and using condoms sucks hard.
Argh! I hate this attitude that "condoms suck" no wonder why STI's and underage pregnancies are so high. I think some people really need to be educated in safe sex and STI's
I use 'em(other than when I had a steady girlfriend and we had other methods in place)...just don't like 'em.

Great invention, but they do numb you to the experience.

Open relationships can work as long as everyone involved can handle it. In my experience, everyone involved can handle it. There's a Benjamin Franklin saying that goes "Three can keep a secret if two of them are dead." While there are a few good secret keepers, the point is sound: The more people involved, the harder it is to keep the secret. It translates well into sexual relationships. The more people involved, the harder it is to keep everyone happy (and not in the pleasure sense).

I'm okay with sleeping around until it gets to the point of cheating. Cheating hurts the people involved. I'm not automatically for it, but I'm sexually permissive in that I don't condemn things just because I don't personally enjoy them.

I don't believe in anything like saving yourself for marriage, the concept of virginal purity, or the need for it to be with your true love. We added these social stigmas to make something pleasurable verbotten. Still, sex is better with someone you're actually intimate with, so....
