having not read this cos its early there is a chance i'm making a point already made. When Floppy disks were on the way out for pc games, we were getting hundereds of the little bastards in a box. When Cd's were on their way out, we were getting 5 or 6 of them in a box. I say wait until we start seeing multi DVD games before we start goin blu-ray mentalist

Nice finds!
I wont touch BR or HDVD till I can get a burner for under 300 tho :p
- Might be a little while off there, but at least people with PCs can't complain now about how a BluRay player is so expensive ^^

This is true, and DL DVDs or DVD9s have twice as much data as older DVDs so 2 DL discs=4 old DVDs so DVD will last awhile yet.

I'm glad to here that Blu-Ray is starting to get the edge over HD-DVD since i have a PS3 and don't want to be left with a Betamax. As for Blu-ray for PC i don't see why not. The extra storage space could come in handy for the next generation of HD games. Though it isn't as much of an issue as it is for consoles. It is important to remember that the cost of Blu-ray will go down. It has only been a few years since DVD became the prefered medium for PC games, and i think the same will happen with Blu-ray as time passes. As for Downloads i watch a fair bit of TV on my Laptop nowadays (generaly because we dont have cable/satalite at home) but it can take AGES to download or stream large video files. Legal TV and Movie downloads are coming to the fore and i believe will play a big part of the entertainment of the future. That said, at least for the forseeable future, physical DVDs Blu-Rays etc aren't going anywhere .

Wow, well done there. I'm sure Sony will give you a nice fat paycheck for all the good work you're doing.
- I'm doing this entirely because I believe BluRay is the better technology. There's no need to bring my employment status into this :p

Well, anyway, i don't think there is much more to discuss, because of everyone more or less agreeing with each others.

That, and the fact that blu-ray supports 150 GB for data storage, and the discussion ends.

You might want to start a different thread of how blu-ray owns HD-DVD, but that's just wanting attention.

It might be quite awhile before players drop to the sub-$100 mark. One of the primary reasons both coalitions were formed was to make a new system that protected the studios against piracy AND protected player manufacturers from cheap Chinese players. (How in the world they expect to have their own players manufactured in China whilst preventing the same factories from manufacturing their own house brands escapes me, but they seem to think it can be done.)
