Don't worry, Skidrow (or anyone else within the scene) won't be releasing a working "crack" for quite a while. Why? Because it's not as simple as "cracking the exe". We're talking about a whole server-side emulation which has to be developed before the game will be fully playable.Itsthefuzz said:but the pirating group Skidrow basically said it won't be long, which is sad.
They will never go through the trouble. However, other people will try and perhaps even succeed down the road as there is already a (really bad) emulator for the beta (but you can't really use it for anything good, the game is far from fully playable), although it will most definitely take a while.
Just look at Starcraft 2, it's still not fully cracked even after almost two years. Sure, you can play singleplayer just fine, but in order to get multiplayer working you have to go through a hole lot of trouble only to be able to host a working skirmish match.
Diablo 3 will be a whole lot harder since SC2 has it's skirmish (and the rest of the game) on your computer. Most of Diablo 3's content is generated, saved and run by the server such as quests, events, loot and well, you get the point.
Release groups won't bother developing a whole new server emulator that exactly (or close enough) emulates Blizzards servers. It will never happen. So no, Skidrow will NOT release any kind of crack or emulator for Diablo 3, despite what your friend says.
