So you didn't vote, but you're complaining about the outcome? You realize if you DID vote you could have made a difference, and I can guarantee the people who fall into the "I don't vote" category is huge. People who don't vote shouldn't complain about the outcome. You didn't do your part to make a difference, or even attempt to, so why should you be bothered about how it went?
Please refer to the numbers our gracious host provided, one more vote in the "yes" would have done... let's see... absolute dick.
Quit that shit about "you can't complain because you didn't vote" as well. It's juvenile and really shows how naive you can be.

Regardless of how I feel about this particular subject matter, I feel compelled to point out that you consciously forfeited your vote, and, because of that, seeing you ***** and moan about the outcome in hindsight now makes me want to kick you in the nuts. After taking a 20m running start.

i guess California is still as ass-backwards as ever, especially since it was SHOWN that this would generate tax revenue for the government that they could have given to schools or to fixing roads.

this is why i don't vote, the masses are stupid and to vote against them is stupider

EDIT: Proof that it would not have made a difference if I voted - http://www.sos.ca.gov/contest_summary.pdf

97% of people voted, so even if EVERYONE in california voted, it still would not have gone through, because the majority won by more than 7%.

i also have every right to complain if i can not get to a place to vote (i live 5 hours walking distance from the nearest precinct, the only known place in my city where i can vote)
You didn't vote, you don't get to *****.

Well another pass for legalizing marijuana. Didn't think this was going to pass, but hoped it would. Now, I don't smoke pot personally but a lot of my friends do and or had smoked it. I just see no reason to not legalize it. There is really nothing that bad about it if you compare it to other drugs out there.

Voting is only one part of the process and in a political system which was bought by major corporations a long, long time ago voting is practically meaningless. It's a feel-good gesture that makes you feel like you're doing something. What we need is fundamental change in the system which requires accountability that can only result from riding politicians long after they've been elected to office. If there's enough of an outcry they will move regardless of who's in office-they're more concerned with keeping their power than they are staying true to their "principles".

Even if you vote, if you're not part of a movement like that, if you don't stay politically active even when there isn't an election, you're not accomplishing anything.

I'm not from California, but I did forget to vote for my state's stuff. >.<; Worked on my van, did some job hunting...forgot to ask around where the poll was being held -headdesk- I'm not actually registered either...even though I signed a petition over the summer and filled out a registration to make that signature count. I left it at that because the person who had me fill the registration out told me that she'd get it in. Guess it got lost. Or maybe I should be looking into my credit scores and seeing if I don't have credit cards I've never heard of.

But I do have to agree with most of the people here, didn't vote, not a lot to ***** about. You ever hear of an Absentee Ballot? You can ask for one. They send it to you. You don't have to go anywhere near a poll booth. Washington State is almost completely Absentee now. But hey, making a stink about it helps a little. Might generate more voters for the next attempt. Make more stoners aware. Then again, U.S.A. does boast being the land of the free and having a bit about free speech. Doesn't matter if you didn't vote, still an exercise of the right to bitching. And considering people like Fred Phelps beat that right like a dead horse to spread HIS mindrot of an opinion, why can't non-voters complain of the outcome? They're just told to stuff it because you feel like they've been lazy and not put in the work. Big deal. We all still have things to whine about.

if i voted that would mean my vote still didn't matter by..... 528896 votes against me

yeah, i TOTALLY would have made a difference
Now imagine if 60,000 other people who would have voted yes thought the same exact thing. Then what?

i also have every right to complain just as anyone else who's not registered nor able to vote

are you saying anyone under the age of 18 has no rights? are you also saying people who have no way of registering to vote have no rights (i have no way because i can't drive, can not learn how to drive because i have no teacher, and have no car or money)

anyways, this thread was SUPPOSED to be about discussing the results, not trolling on me for not voting. seriously.
If you don't vote you have no right to complain, I hate that about my "fellow" Americans you cry and whine about the government but you never vote. Let it be known, "Vote or shut up".

ive never heard of an absentee ballot... shows what they teach us in school these days.

you know, no one ever told me how to register to vote, besides, this thread is about discussing the proposition, not the fact that i didn't vote

people really missed the point.

That wasn't sarcasm, btw. People made a decision. It may or may not be the right one, but it's A decision
you also have to look at it this way...if pot is legal...you have to DEAL with pot heads ALL THE MORE....and to be honest...people who constently smoke..really get dumb some times...we've all seen it

Yeah, I got to get in on beating this dead horse, it's not quite pulpy enough yet. A couple of you mentioned/linked George Carlin's anti-voting rant. Very amusing. Fails to mentions, though, how apathy is how the system got bought in the first place. If the American public REALLY cared, actually PAID ATTENTION to the process, it wouldn't come down to whatever corporation was able to buy the most air time for attack ads. It's our lack of education on these matters that makes it so easy for us to be fooled. The nonvoters among us make it even easier on the powers that be, as they don't even have to bother trying to sway your opinion. It's a win-win, as cynicism and lethargy set in and the ranks of the nonvoting grow even as the means to prevent 'undesirables' from voting (Jim Crow, etc) evaporate. So, by not voting, you're making it easier for them to fuck us all. Thanks.

As far as pot goes, I understand that this was a poorly constructed piece of legislation. I've heard many potheads rail against it for the vague definitions of 'space,' or the fact that it would essentially bankrupt NorCal's booming illicit ganja trade. I'm for soft drug legalization, as there's a big difference between cocaine and herb, in severity of physiological and psychological effects. The 'spiral' everyone seems afraid of is already kicked off by alcohol, which history has shown us we *can't* get rid of, so I fail to see how a less harmful and addictive substance will cause the destruction of civilization.

All that said, I'm quite glad I don't have to listen to people argue it was a bad proposition because it only legalized it for 21 year olds. Damn kids...

Wonderful! Now kindly turn your attention to the number of people who said the exact same thing as me! Picking out one person because he was the first to say it? Cute. AS I mentioned, 50% of the US votes for a new president, then those who didn't vote say "I wouldn't have made a difference" who knows, it might have gone a different way, but he didn't put the effort in to vote, so why does he have the right to ***** abotu what heppened?

No, it's not juvenile. Read the rest of my posts. I voted for a democratic party I knew would lose. They only get 7% of my country's vote, but I believed in their cause. Some people can say "Well if you ***** it's because you voted in a losing party" But atleast I voted, atleast I spoke up, and atleast I sided with what I believed in. This man did none of the above. He sat on his ass, and then bitched about the outcome.

TL;DR: Don't single out ONE person out of conveniance, read the rest of my posts, and too bad if you don't like the opinions of most of the people in this thread

EDIT: ON the note of pot I'm apathetic to whether it gets the green or the red light, since I don't smoke up. I would have probably voted no, since dealing with the open pot heads being idiots under the viel of "Hey man, pot is legal" would get annoying. I'm looking at it in a short term sense though, as the moment pot became legal, every stoner in montreal (ALOT OF THEM) would be smoking up 24/7, going to work stoned, going to school stoned, and I don't really wanna deal with that, thought I'm sure it would calm down after a bit
