Everyone else has summed it up quite nicely. Didn't vote, too bad, moving on.

I'm not bothered by this either way, and I'm not surprised by the results.

Drugs should be illegal everywhere, altogether, no matter what kind it is.

And this comes from a guy living in the Netherlands, where the dumbasses who actually get legal weed and such waste their time on the crap.
"drugs" is a broad term, narrow it down before arguing your point next time.and why the fuck do you care about what others do in their free time?

that really isnt that big of a gap between the yes and no percents. Meaning that in a few years we may see marijuana be legalized

More people just need to warm up to the idea and be more informed on the nature of Marijuana. People are still convinced it can kill you.

I don't really care. What's gonna happen, all the addicts are going to whine about not getting their fix? "Get the government out of my marijuana, I deserve the right to smoke it." Oh, please, even if they do care about those rights, it's rarely the principle that they are arguing for; they just want to get high. Besides, those who really want it will find a way to get it anyway. The laws in place only keep it from getting ridiculously out of hand.
Uhm, you realize you sound like a retard?
Marijuana isn't addictive...at all....someone just failed hardcore.
Edit: You should go watch the movie The Union, should clear this up for you.
Wow, I guess you're right - I'm a total retard. I forgot that there was no such thing as a "stoner".

But honestly, you realize that YOU sound like a retard? You're actually going to tell me that marijuana is not addictive at all? Even things like television, video games, sex, and food can be addictive. In fact, literally everything can be addictive if you have it enough times.
Okay bro
Stoner: someone who smokes weed often. smoking often =/= addicted.addiction is a dependency of something,be it psychological or chemical.

seydaman, you are a fool.no,no weed is not addictive.yes those things are addictive, but you don't see people going through fucking withdrawal every time they don't eat a cheese burger,do you?no,because it's a DIFFERENT KIND OF ADDICTION!those addictions are psychological,or they're just habits people just worked into and didn't work out of!it's not the weed,it's the PEOPLE using the weed, just like it's not a burger but the person eating the burger,or playing the game,or having sex!the type of addiction that comes with weed is PSYCHOLOGICAL,not CHEMICAL.

Yet people who smoke it will still smoke, and those who dont will continue to not smoke
Except now those who smoke can be taxed and maybe get it a bit cheaper.

I wonder what the result would have been if everyone voted..? They really should make it mandatory to vote for you guys. I can't understand why people would just sit at home rather then take an interest in who's running the FUCKING country?!?

this is why i don't vote, the masses are stupid and to vote against them is stupider
And this reasoning is stupidest.

If you don't vote you don't get to moan about the outcome, simple as.
Not at all, I don't usually vote. I can see the problems with every issue. Therefore I moan regardless of what happens, whether or not I vote. Negativity for the win!

Seriously though, to me democracy is the most overrated form of government. I'm not saying that the others are much better, but it sure is irritating reading these guys saying "I don't agree with the verdict, but I agree it's the way it should be because majority rules".
So just out of curiosity, where rank do you rate democracy?
I'd rank true democracy quite high, but we don't have a true democracy, and here in the UK it's even worse. I've never really put one above another, but I think that we should either be told what to do, or choose what to do, but not this charade being being led to believe that we are asking for what we are being given. I digress however, this isn't about governmental structures, this is about me moaning regardless of the outcome. A very British attitude :)

To everyone who keeps whining that he didn't vote - get over yourselves. His choice only affects what he does himself. Voting or no, it makes absolutely no difference to anyone else. Hence, his vote is meaningless. The "well, if everyone thought like you..."-argument is a straw man and is also plain bullshit. His choice to not vote doesn't influence anyone else. You can go through your life voting or not voting but neither will have any impact at all on any democratic decision. If you want to make a difference you go out and talk to people instead of deluding yourself into thinking "oh, my vote counts!".

Marijuana should be legal and regulated, as should alcohol. As long as it's still illegal to be intoxicated (in any way) while doing something that requires a person to be sober, such as driving or working as a doctor, fireman etc. The taboo will drop eventually, but it's impressive that it happened in the US this early, being that it's one of, if not the most, bigoted western country(-ies).

It's a self fulfilling prophecy; things will never change so there's use in trying to change them.

Apathy is the enemy of democracy, yet it manages to win every democratic election.

Alright, here's my argument.
As many have said, legalizing marijuana will significantly help the government reel in money by taxing it. Secondly, it takes the power of dealing away from criminals and reduces organized crime. And, honestly, a lot of the bad changes of marijuana (such as modern strength of the drug) was caused by its illegality. It's similar to the 18th amendment, banning alcohol. People will still drink, you can't stop that. And through that, the proof of alcohol often increased, and organized crime as we know it began. Hopefully, it's just a matter of time until government officials and voters realize that.
The main counter-argument is that it is a "gateway drug," and that it leads to harder drugs like cocaine and heroine. Yes this may happen, but that is to the fault of the customer. You're not going to stop people from smoking marijuana. It happens everywhere, and in fact is basically legal in California, you just need a cannabis card. Whether it leads to other drugs is up to each person. So, why not take advantage of the money and the reduced crime?
If anyone has anything to add or argue, I'd love to hear it.

I like the cut of your gib.
Ban everything! People can become psychologically-addicted to them.

The reason this is seen as a "Gateway Drug" is because their dealer usually will ask if they want to try something else after buying weed for some time. It isnt really that Weed is an actual gateway drug its just that people who deal in weed usually have something more then that in their pockets.

Well, it wasn't a landslide loss so there's still some hope. Marijuana isn't a particularly important matter, anyway.

i guess California is still as ass-backwards as ever, especially since it was SHOWN that this would generate tax revenue for the government that they could have given to schools or to fixing roads.

EDIT: Removed some stuff to force people to discuss the ACTUAL ISSUE and not troll on me.
im from california. i voted against it. and im not ass backwards
