If they can keep from making the plot too confusing and stick with telling a good story about one villian instead of throwing two or more villians in there, then it might work. What made Spiderman 1 so good was the strong story between Spiderman and Green Goblin. Spidey 2 was a little less focused but still good. Spiderman 3 was a total mess with Venom, Sandman and Harry pretty much taking up the mantle of his dad as the new Goblin (some call him Hobgoblin as I remember). It was a relief when that movie was over.

I've heard that the new movie is going to be a Venom story with the focus on that villian. I've also heard they may try to sneak in Carnage too.

I'd rather see Spider-man go up against a lesser known and less used villian like The Lizard as Melancholy said. That would be cool.

I think that's what the movie remakes of super heros should be about: reminding the fans about the more obscure villians that you don't see in almost every new comic for that hero.

The problem with 3, aside from shitty writing, was that there were too many villains with not enough screen time. If they insist on making a fourth movie it should be limited to one villain.

Why oh why? As if the third as not bad enough. I mean, Venom killed with noise and vibrations? I expect most action movies like Spider-Man to be mindless and all about the action, not the science and tactics. Where was the massive explosive fight sequence? That what I saw Transformers for. Mindless action.

Um, most symbiotes are vulnerable to loud noises or strong vibrations. Spiderman has beaten Venom before just by ringing a church bell.

Carnage would be an excellent Villain, though they kinda screwed up number three because they blew up the symbiote along with Eddie Brock. Carnage was always meant to be a more agressive development of the symbiote, and Venom was it's rival so to speak...The only way I can see Carnage being in this film is if somehow it links back to Dr Connor's labs. That's gonna be a difficult one to pull off.

I'm not sure whether the Scorpian would be a good idea, it'd give JJJ some more screentime.

I think they should have the scorpion guy in the next one, I don't really know about him but I assume he has the abilities of a scorpion or something, I just want to see some guy get trapped in a sweet scorpion mech suit and go nuts.

I have a great idea for implementing the Sinister Six!

Like this: The AI in Doc Ock's tentacle harness take control of Otto's body after he died. The AI realizes without the human host, the harness will die soon, and the AI seeks revenge against Spider-Man. The new Dr. Octopus, who knew he couldn't defeat on his/its own, joins forces with 4 supercriminals Spidey faced in the time between 3 and 4, Electro, a former electrician with the power to control electromagnetism, Kraven the Hunter, who seeks to tame Spider-Man, "the ultimate prey", the Vulture, an elderly man who uses magnetism to fly, and Mysterio (rumored to be played by Bruce Campbell), a former actor who uses his illusions to commit crimes. Dr. Octopus also blackmails Flint Marko, the sandy shapeshifter Sandman, with the destruction of his ex-wife and sick daughter, Penny. And thus was born the Sinister Six.
