On another note, heres my opinion on how a proper symbiote movie could have gone down:
In the opening we see the venom symbiote crash land in the park (as happened in 3)
Spiderman early in the film has to confront a new villain in town, The Scorpion, who Spiderman, being kind of a jerk with his newfound fame (pushing Mary Jane away), utterly trounces and publicly humiliates... We see the scorpion's life crumble around him because of this and as he hits rock bottom, the Symbiote we saw earlier attacks and takes over; while at first fearful, Macgargan begins to revel in his new power and chooses to humiliate Spiderman by using his powers and skills as a private investigator to uncover his identity. He does this after a rematch with Spiderman, unmasking him and pointing out how he has pushed Mary Jane away by thinking that with his power he does not need others, and how even with his great power, he is weak. In his weakness the symbiote jumps from Scorpion to Spiderman and taking the form of the black suit.
Falling under the same spell Scorpion did, Spiderman revels in his new power and becomes more and more brutal in his crime fighting and becomes much more animalistic, meaning though he is spending more time with Mary Jane his strange behaviour actually alienates him as he becomes more spider than man and breaks up with him. It is now that Peter realises the truth, the Scorpion was right, he had become weak but it was not his power in the first place that made him strong, it was Uncle Ben's death that made him take up responsibility and become a man, and maybe in his glory he has forgot this.
Forcibly removing the symbiote makes it bitter towards Peter, now calling itself Venom and wanting revenge, without human infleunce it is pure beast and as such begins wrecking New York, seeing it as it's territory. As such, Peter does the right thing and realising he can not stand up to Venom on his own, asks for Scorpions help to take the villain down, thus saving the day and ending Scorpion's arc by making him a hero in the end (perhaps before death, as they did awfully with Surfer/Paintball mask Goblin in Spiderman 3).
I understand I did not mention Eddie Brock but imo, the MacGargan version would be a way better choice for film as he is anundoubtably more complex and allows for two villains in the movie while keeping down the number of plot threads, though I'm sure one could find valid reasons to disagree, as I said, this was my take on the symbiote movie.
