If the 4th installment hopes to win me back it's going to have to have epic levels of awesome. Too many villains and an unnecessary emo binge made the 3rd one a thing of nightmares.

I don't have high hopes for this if Carnage is involved. Quite frankly they're out of 'epic' villains now that Doc Ock and both Green Goblins are dead. I am completely against bringing Eddie Brock back, especially if you gave him a complete face-heel turn and made him good just so that he can 'help Spidey save the day'. I'd say the classics are the way to go here, like Rhino, Vulture, Shocker or Lizard. But if they can somehow pull a good Kraven story, that would be worth watching a million times over.
I don't care. It's gonna suck. Period. There's no way it can be even slightly good after the mess that was Spider-Man 3.
I personally want to see Ezekiel and Morlun in the next one. But if that's not possible..........KRAVEN!!!! And they could end it like Kraven's Last Hunt!

Seriously, It will either be average or will kill Spiderman, which may not be a bad thing after that terrible/hilarious scene from 3 where he gets the emo haircut and acts all cool, specially when he dances outside of that store. It was hilarious, but the dignity was gone.

I reckon Lizard will make an entrance, and Peter will have to deal with his mutations (where he mutates into the dreaded MAN-SPIDER!!!)

This is where I'd usually go on about the milking of a franchise and that if any of you want to make a statement about the film-maker's mentality, you should NOT GO and see it.
But, I expect the usual list of bull-crap excuses like "I'm going to see it to see how bad it is/to laugh at it/nothing better to do."
Paying to see the film and hating it is THE SAME to the industry if you went and enjoyed yourself. You've paid your money, filled their pockets and given the impression that this lazy way of film making is the way forward. And people wonder why they studios keep churning this shite out.

I think they should bring Joel Schumacher in to direct, camping it up to balance out the emo crap of the third one.

I have to agree, id love to see carnage brought in as i never really was able to grasp carnage's story, i never actually found out how he came to be, maybe the episode where carnage and venom work together
Then getting spidey and the xmen etc together to stop them, a combination of marvel characters in a film would be interesting to see pulled off, granted how effective it would be i couldnt say, still the effort to do it none the less would be apeasing

Apparently its also in a symbiotes nature to hate and want to kill its offspring, which is why Venom has an overpowering urge to kill carnage, even if it means working together with Spiderman.

lol, it seems carnage has become a favorite, as i mentioned before though, i think the next big marvel hit would be an alliance of some well known marvel characters, also, i think in the 4th one a good badguy would deffinatley be lizardman, or the kingpin, maybe not so much the kingpin though, as he was just a fat man with a big tower... lol
