Oh boy. More milking of a franchise. I really liked the Spiderman movies, but I had enough after the 3rd one, not because it was bad, but it just seemed like the series had run its course. Sure there's a lot of other villains and storylines they could use, but it doesn't mean that they SHOULD. I'll reserve judgment for now, and I know movie makers are really in it for the money, but I'd at least like it to not be thrown in my face like a dirty tampon..

I'd be happy if Spiderman 3 were remade. That thing was horrible. =(

Hmm. Adding Black Cat would restore a romantic interest, but after Spidey 3 I'm not sure how well that would happen.

My votes are for the Lizard and Electro, though I have no clue how it would work.

Carnage and Lizard would work best, in my not-professional-at-all opinion. Mainly 'cause of Connors' involvement in the last two movies, and Carnage 'cause he's awesome.
Because Venom was handled sooooo well... /sarcasm

I hate Carnage, too much of Todd McFarlanes fuck headed "XTREME!!!!!!!!"ness in that character.

"NOT ONLY IS HE A SYMBIOTE BUT HE'S A CRAZY PSYCHO SERIAL KILLER OMFG SO BADASS XTREME!!!!! HE ALSO MAKES AXES AND KNIVES AND KILLS PEOPLE, XTREME!!!!"

Yeah, I fucking hate Carnage...

I prefer the villains that, had circumstances been different, could have been heroes. They're a lot more interesting than "XTREME BADASSES" like Venom and Carnage.
In all fairness Venom only became Venom because Eddie was desperate. In a different universe he could have been a hero.

Bring in Carnage, revive Venom, put in the story of a young man struggling to choose between using his powers for purely selfish goals or taking responsibility and using his powers for the good of his fellow man, and I'll be happy.

While I don't expect Spiderman to be as dark as Batman or Watchmen, we need to have a growing up story for Spiderman. Spiderman 1 was his introduction, Spiderman 2 was his grand challenge, Spiderman 3 was his cocky emo time, and Spiderman 4 needs to be about him finally wrapping things up and becoming a full-fledged hero, with his personal life perfectly balanced out with saving the world.

Then Marvel can drop the Spiderman movies (at least for a while) and get to work on making sure Iron Man 2 is actually good (looks shaky at this moment).

EDIT- changed some wording

to be fair no matter how hard they try they'll never get the real gist of the comic book series

i mean they killed off venom which was stupid cus he has a whole series of comics (anti-venom anyone?) and he also has his offspring

to be fair i really couldnt give a flying duck who they add, just not hammerhead, shocker, rhino, electro or scorpian 'cause they really get on my moobs

and if they even attempt the gwen stacey saga they're are purposefully trying to end their film making careers

Well, the villain is quite obviouse

[spoiler/][img/]http://www.screenhead.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/spidermanx-lizard_bio.jpg[/img]
They've been setting him up for the last 3 movies.

But seriously, I don't think they need to make this movie. They've already used up Spidermans best villains. Hell, they used up the two best villains by Spiderman 2.

You have a really good point about Spiderman's development in the films so far. I mean when Spidey had on the blacksuit, that was a low point for him, I doubt they made the film intentionally crappy to symbolize Spiderman's downfall during this time, but it is an interesting possibility.

I just don't know how they would put in the Lizard. I see how it works in theory, but he would basically be a smaller scalier version of the Hulk, (and completely CG at that) maybe they could pull it off, I just don't know. Hopefully Spiderman 4 will be good. I'll be sure to give any trailer I see of it an extremely skeptical look after what I experienced with Spiderman 3.

If they follow the last movie, they'll do two villains in one movie. (Venom and Sandman)

So, it looks like Lizard is a likely candidate, but who else? Rumours were flying around for awhile that Chameleon was next. There is a logic there, of a kind, since he was sort of Spiderman's first super-villain encounter. (Issue #2, I believe. Please correct me if I'm wrong.)

Personally, I'd like to see Mysterio in there. He was awesome. So much you could do with that character.

Rhino isn't smart enough to be a standalone threat. He always worked for someone. (Kingpin is out, since they used him up on that stupid Daredevil flick.)

Shocker, likewise, was more of a follower. Could be done, I suppose. You'd have to find a way to tie him in to the Lizard plot if they occupied the same screen, though.

Carnage is too obvious. You can't do a Symbiote movie right after a Symbiote movie. Wait a couple films first. (And yes, there will be several more.)

Vulture? Could be. It would be possible to tie that in with Lizard. Same goes for Scorpion. They were sort of a team, sometimes, anyway. (Vulture and Scorpion, that is.)

Hobgoblin would be, in my mind, a bad move after so much exposure to the Green Goblin. If the filmmakers have half a brain (no evidence to support that they do, mind you) they would know that Hobgoblin and Green Goblin were too similar to play them so close together.

Black Cat....yeah, no. We don't need to complicate the romance subplot any more than we already did with the last one. Sheesh...

Admittedly, I have nooooo experience with most of these, besides what I've picked up. I've read one story with Carnage in it, pretty much. But where you enjoy the moral dichotomy-style villains, I love psychopathic bastards. I just don't see enough times when a character looks at a field of bodies, with one person standing in the middle of it, a huge grin on his face, and the character asks the villain, "WHY?!!?!", and the villain simply replies, "Because I could!"

Although we probably both want to see the Lizard.

My thoughts:
1)Not surprised
2)Probably be average, but better than Hulk at least.
3)Bruce Campbell cameo, what will it be?
4)Wait is it Raimi again? If not, then no Bruce :(
5)I need a coffee..
6)That Kraven(?) guy was fun, I liked him.

Am I the only one hoping for a clone saga movie(s)?
(If you don't get the sarcasm in this comment than let me make it obvious. I am being very sarcastic).

Actually I didn't see anything wrong with spiderman 3. It wasn't quite as good as 2 but it was still good.
For villains though they should either have the lizard or carnage. (Carnage is like venom but he's sort of orangish yellow, and way creepier.)

Spider-Man 1- OK

Spider-Man 2- Sucks

Spider-Man 3- Sucks Ass

Spider-Man 4- Epic Levels of Failure

I heard he's actually trying to get the Vampire guy (forgot the name) to be the new villian for it. Which is annoying, because there are so many more iconic baddies like Rhino, Mysterio and having Lizardman would make the most sense especially since they have his character already set to go.

Carnage and Lizard would be awesome villans. However, the series has been run into the ground already by Spiderman 3, so I hope it isn't obliterated by SM4.
